Perhaps there was not supposed to be a sacrifice? After all the parable of the vineyard and the workers killing the owners son is what was foretold. In the parable the son does not get resurrected but the father kills them all. Maybe christ was NOT SUPPOSED TO DIE and we humans killed him, so god had no choice but to resurrect him. No ransom, etc. until later when christians started changing things?

The plain facts about ANY religion
by sinis inlately, i have even been questioning my beliefs in christ.
lets face it the ransom just does not make sense.
regardless of this, religion is soley a chronological and geographical entity.

People have. It is a personal choice to believe them or not.
That still doesn't set right with me. I mean how can 1 out of 6 billion people say god talked to him? Does that mean god doesn't care about the 5,999,999,999 remaining? I just don't understand the religious cloak and dagger effect. You would think god would make it clear beyond a doubt what his intentions are for man. Yet, on the flip side these intentions AKA religion has caused more problems than anything else in human history.

Sinis,
With all due respect, my question is just that, a question: If you really do not understand religion and feel life is better without that poison, then what is disturbing you? Why pursue it? Just live your life without religion.
Warlock
No probs. What disturbs me is the relentless promises of a better life, when there may not be one outside of the human life span. I guess I'm really torn. Religion teaches you that a better life awaits, what if it doesn't? I believe in a creator but if this life is it what a travesty that is. I live 80 years if I'm lucky and thats it. Bottom line is when someone, such as myself, is truely trying to find some answers in life, a thousand more questions arise.

I understand what you are saying, yet IF jesus was the son of god and healed all those people why are there no historical records? How do we not know that it was some fundi group (like we see today -> WTS) that wanted something better and eventually it took off into christianity and wrote a Ron L Hubbard classic (dianetics -> bible)?. I guess what it comes down to, is perhaps as humans we desire to believe in the positive and be optimistic yet religion and the amount of historical records paint a pessimistic future. Why has no one seen from or heard from this supposed god for over 2000 years?! If I cared about my creation I think I would spend a little more time with them...

Lately, I have even been questioning my beliefs in Christ. Lets face it the ransom just does not make sense. Regardless of this, religion is soley a chronological and geographical entity. Had I have been born in babylon before christ (christianity) I would have beleived something completely different than being born in the west in the 20th century and yet all religions are different but only christianity is correct?!?!? I really do not understand religion. Ultimately what disturbs me is that within my limited life span I will probably not be able to accomplish all that I want. Yet life without the poison known as religion is far better.

Has anybody successfully quit using caffeine altogether?
by DanTheMan inmy anxiety and stress levels are really bad lately.
i think i'd be doing myself a favor to quit caffeine, as it has become a real catch-22 for me, where i need it to stay awake, but it causes me to lose sleep, so i need more of it to stay awake, etc.. i've learned through experience that i'm very sensitive to any sort of chemical substance that affects neurotransmitter flow, and, given my general propensity towards depression/anxiety/paranoia/add, i think that at least one thing i could do to give me a calmer, more stable neurotransmitter mix would be to eliminate caffeine.
i've tried to reduce before, and i've found that i just start making excuses to have a little more, a little more, until i'm right back where i started.. so, i'm just wondering if anybody else has had a similar experience where they felt the need to not just reduce but eliminate caffeine altogether, and if so, how did it go, did it help, how long has it been, etc.

Hell, the GB at one time was entertaining the idea of banning caffeine and was shot down since the felt the R&F would split.

my story
by jaberwalkie inthis is a difficult thing for me to do, i used to be a jehovahs witness 20 years service as a pioneer.. last thursday it was announced from the platform at my local kingdom hall that i was disfellowshiped.. it was a bit of a shock.
i still have a deep sence of anger at what happened to me and its so unfair.. it started 3 years ago when i began to feel ill and i missed a couple of meetings.
the elders were wonderful and came round and cheered me up.

If you want to make the WTS squirm I would suggest that you file and appeal and then contact the WTS legal department and explain your situation. I would also inform the appeals committee that they are not doctors and unlike "will full" sins you have no control of this. You are seeking medical help for your condition and that what they have done goes completely counter to WTS policy, ethics, and the bible. I would venture to say that you will get an immediate response if you call HQ.

Well, we had a BBQ at my bro-in-laws, who used to be a DUB until I helped him see the "light". So my friend was asking him why he does not go back to meetings and my bro-in-law says that he does not see or feel the love that the preach. All he saw was festering and rot while in the kingdumb halls. My friend said that men are imperfect and the jehovah will take care of it in time. My B-I-L said that was a weak excuse to condone actions and that if these were men of god, should not god see fit to reveal it immediatly? Why would god allow others to become stumbled and leave while a sinner goes about his business? My friend would not answer him but I'm hoping it woke him up.
I mentioned in conversation that Bethel was dumping all of its workers and he said he heard about it and praise jehovah since they will be going to where the need is great. I told him it was very loving to "employ" a toilet cleaner all his life and then kick him out in old age and expect him to care for his needs by getting a job - oh, I forgot that they have no marketable skills. He agreed with me on that and said he would never want to go to bethel as it does not prepare you for the future.

So, my friend from texas was visiting this past week. He still goes to the KH and is a MS. So he wanted to know why I have not gone to meetings. I tell him that I am upset about the NGO thing (explained in detail). He wanted to know if I was looking at apostate websites. I then turned to him and asked him is there apostacy in TRUTH? Was not Jesus an apostate to the Pharisees and Saducees? He would not answer me. He just said he would have to do research on the NGO matter.
I then asked him if the catholic church is or was ever approved by god. He said no. I then asked him then why do you accept the bible? After all the bible was compiled by men of the church with an agenda. Same answer - will have to do research.
Finally, he just said the "Truth" is getting brighter and brighter, and that there are imperfect men in the org and eventually god will take care of it. I tried to explain the many beliefs of Charles Russell (1914, etc.), hostile take over by Rutherford, etc. and he just listened. He's a very smart guy but I can't for the life of me understand why he believes this crap. He asked me what I currently believe, and I told him religion is based on time and geography... I believe in god or a creator but will live my life the way I want to, since god has not seen fit to clearly instruct me in the path he wants me to take.
