Just got my first tattoo - very large celtic cross across my whole forearm, and have also been smoking cigs, and cigars, on and off (social) - DAMN I FEEL GREAT!!! I was hoping that on the way back from the tat parlor a JW would spot me with a cig and a tated arm hanging out the window :)
My JW wife isn't happy but I think she is turning ever so slowly - sort of "lukewarm". My JW mom, who is the only one left, kept telling my brother and I that Leviticus condemns tats. I simply told her two things: First why do JW's ignore the mandate only a scripture or two above that condemn cutting your side locks? and Two, Why do you adhere to an ancient law WRITTEN FOR THE JEWS? Hello, I'm not Jewish!!!

3.9% interest
by indahsempurna indoes anyone else find it terrible that the society is charging interest for congregations to build kingdom halls????
why the hell are people putting money in the "special" box marked kingdom hall fund??
my boyfriend who already hates the witnesses found this absolutely horrible.

Technically, the Society does not consider the 3.9% payback amount to be interest. It is considered an "admin fee". I suspect that they use this terminology so as to not get their tit in a ringer with the government.

Got to love this scene:
Many enjoy healthy activities that do
not involve exposure to spiritismYea right!!! Next article will talk about a competitive spirit and speak ill of soccer, and like games. Or how bodily training is beneficial for a little. So with that in mind those old farts need to get their asses back in the KH so that they can improve on their field service time!!

Would the archeological work of Sir William Ramsey or the legal work of Simon Greenleaf suffice?
Edited to add: sarcasm/ Would not the above request be akin to saying to prove the existence of George Washingto, without using any book that references George Washington? \end sarcasm. Using this sort of reasoning no historical figure could ever be proved. You don't really believe that, do you?
Your example is fallible in that George Washington was not only a British Officer but also the President of this country which can be proven from a myriad of NON RELIGIOUS books, journals, paintings, court documents, family lineage of which ancestors exist today. So with that in mind prove to me that Jesus existed without using the RELIGIOUS books (such as the bible) or the works of Josepheus since there is some question as to certain passages authenticity. No pictures of Jesus in any book, no indication from the Qumran sect that he or christanity existed, and the list goes on...

Christianity.
Founded on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
Read about it first hand in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
Read it from a Bible written in conversational English,
After praying in faith for God's Holy Spirit,
See if what you read about is different than what you were taught.
Then read it again a few times, from other translations.
See if what you read about continues to be different than what you were taught.
Now do the same with the whole New Testament.
Break out the concordances and commentaries to shed light on meaning and interpretation.
If you do so, you'll learn more than you now know about Christianity.
At some point, you'll need to decide to be a follower of one of the many Christian sects, or,
continue to read and research, and most importantly practice, Christianity outside one of the many Christian sects.
I chose the latter.

BA- Good luck.
PS- It's a journey, not a destination.
And we know Jesus existed how? Don't use the bible or tainted works from Josephus...

Speaking of tattoos, anybody remember the Awake "experience"...
by AlmostAtheist inwith all the tattoo threads, i'm reminded of an awake lifestory.
this guy was all worldy with his druggy friends and his military background, and of course his huge tattoos on his forearms.
the article mentions that after his baptism, he poured boiling water on his arms to destroy the tattoos.

Rubbing salt!!! Jesus Christ!!!!
Most tattoo artists use an electrically powered, vertical, vibrating instrument to inject the tattoo pigment. The instrument injects pigment at 50 to 30,000 times per minute into the second layer of skin, at a depth of 1/64 to 1/16 of an inch. A single needle outlines the tattoo and the design is then filled in with five to seven needles in a needle bar.
*** g72 2/8 p. 29 Watching the World *** Tattoo Remover
?
A simple method for removing an unwanted tattoo has been developed by Dr. F. W. Crittenden, Jr., a U.S. Navy dermatologist. He rubs the tattoo with salt. Using sterile gauze pads that are moistened and dipped in salt, he rubs the tattoo until the skin bleeds. The surface skin is thus removed, and the oozing fluids carry away the pigments in the tattoo. The wound is dressed and a scab forms over the wound. When the scab falls off, a picture of the tattoo can be seen in the scab.So you would have remove the first 1/16 inch of skin off!!! WTF!!! Sick bastards! How about just leaving them?

Would you have married a non JW
by JH inwhen you were a good active jw, would you have considered marrying a non jw or was this completely out of the question..
-
sinis
I would not have even considered it. Now, being out of the Borg and married to a JW, I wish I had married an "unbeliever" as my "believing" wife now believes we are unevenly yoked So where it goes from here no one knows, most days I try not to think about it and just live life. In reality its all bullshit, and I wish most JW's would/could wake up as actions/beliefs like this are counterproductive to life and basically is a waste of time! God, knows I don't have a lot of this commodity (time) and with what little I have it would be nice to live in peace. Fucking JW's - I will curse those bastards until the day they put me in a pine box...
