My take on that scripture is that Jesus was speaking of the holy ones or those chosen to be co rulers in that kingdom. I do not believe that they will go to heaven or even a 144,000. I believe that they will rule on earth in a similiar fashion as the priests/temple service of ancient Isreal. They will serve the people and will not be married so that they can devote there time and energies to the people as was in the case of temple services in ancient Isreal.

Resurrected state?
by MidwichCuckoo in''for in the resurrection neither do men marry nor women be given in marriage, but are as angels in heaven'' (matthew 22 v 30).
i was taught that this scripture means that the resurrected will be unmarriageable.
(i state what appears to be the obvious, as i have since heard that god would be cruel to disallow the 'reunion' of a happy couple separated by death).. as i understood this scripture to mean the resurrected would be celibate, it made sense to me that they would not have the appearance of 'survivors'.

The right way to disfellowship - the wrong way to keep rapists.
by stevenyc inwe know where jehovah's witnesses get the rules for disfellowshipping, matthew 18:15-18, from jesus.
nwt:matt 18:15 "moreover, if your brother commits a sin, go lay bare his fault between you and him alone.
if he listens to you, you have gained your brother.

The other thing the society fails to see is that Jesus, in verse 16, was not saying take two or three individuals who had witnessed the event (as the WTS likes to say). Rather, if your brother did not listen to your counsel than take a couple others who may be able to reason with him. After that take him before the cong so that they may reason with him. If these all failed than the admonision was to cast them out. The WTS interpretes the two witnesses as being observers of the offense - not true. These were brought in to kindly reason with a person and offer assistance if required.

How can the WTS mix the mosiac law with the principals that jesus was trying to set that would eventually lead to a new covenant? You CANNOT mix the two. I don't understand how they even pull this stuff out of the hat.

Where to find the "complete" bible
by sinis ini have been looking at some different sites and doing my own research regarding the modern day bible.
it becomes appearent that the catholic church had a huge say in what cannons were adopted and the ones which were not.
does anyone know where i can get a bible that would include the original texts that the jews considered to be sacred?

The sad thing is that the WTS seems to push that one day you will wake up and the world will be ablaze. If if, when, the big A comes in my life I am sure that you will be able to see strange things in the world that indicate a storm on the horizon. I also don't feel jehovah judges on works or in other words whether I go to meetings and fieldservice. I thought the new covenant destroyed the jewish system of works. The new covenant is based on faith. I don't understand there whole education thing as it can actually help a person reason critically on bible passages and assist in helping a person do research (instead of relying on someone else to do it for you). Then and only then can a person convince themselves. To me it just is not practicle. Luke, Matthew, Paul, etc. were all educated men and I am quite sure they continued to practice there trades, which took schooling. The key is that they were balanced, school/job and preaching. The WTS almost insists that a person cannot be balanced, which I think is a great fallacy.

They wonder why they are losing people???
by LongHairGal ini have to laugh at how hard they try to bring people in by knocking on doors and rv's - but once the people are in they are pushing them out the back door with both hands!
we all remember how hard it was to stay there (even if you believed it all) - let alone the head-trips they put you through!!
listen to this.

Damn, if I had it all over to do again I would have bought a $2.00 bottle of Jergens and saved my money (and mental health). Count your friend fortunate that he has not been "chained" down. There is something to be said of those who are free and single...

I know exactly what you mean. ; The WT has these people so brainwashed, ; it's hard to believe we could've fell for their line. ; The trials you're having with your wife mirrors my own. ; After telling me that she wanted to go back to school and actually making plans to, after the DC my wife came home and announced that she's putting it on hold in favor of meetings and a couple of studies she set up. ;
I was red-faced livid.
My ;wife also claims to be looking for a job, but has yet to find one. ; She refuses to plan for the future beyond the next convention or assembly because she's so sure this system is soon to come to an end, but she looks around at all her older female relatives in the troof and whines about how their husbands control them since they have no jobs, money, and none ;of their own retirement money coming in.
I've told her of my plans to set-up IRA's for both of us but, get this, she wants me to put money in ;a stock and mutual fund account ;she can control and play with at will. ; WTF ; She can do that with her own money when she gets a job. ; Or, better ;yet, if she's so sure the "end" is coming, why bother.
My god that sounds like the crap I used to see here! I probably got a year or so to go. I hate to admit it but I really feel bitter when I look back, knowing what I know now. I had scholarship rides, etc. and I remember to this day that a pioneer/bethelite told me to burn the acceptance letters as they were from Satan. I never destroyed them because I felt I EARNED them, piss on him. Anyway, I pioneered full time, eventually became a MS and literally worked my a$$ off betwen work, meetings, parts, literature, on and on... I remember when I was not making my time (no one to go out in service with) that one of the elders had the balls to tell me that I should go out by myself (and that he did that when he regular pioneered). Needless to say that was the final year after 4 straight years. I wish my wife would go back to school. Before I met her she was attending school but found the witness and hence there was no need. As of lately I have been reading my bible and can see the true light. Whether I'm right or wrong in my new "beliefs" I don't know but I continue to study and do research and FEEL FREE. Something I never felt when going to meetings. Although I do feel bitterness for the wasted years I am glad I can look back and say I did it and found my way. I just wish my wife would come around. I really feel her biterness/depression (sometimes towards me) all stems from the CULT as they instill in your mind to feel guilty if you are not doing x, y, and z. Currently my father (used to be a PO) is out and I have been "enlightening" him with the WTBS "truths". He is very appreciative and realizes now, when looking back, that there was something inherently wrong with the whole picture. My mother on the other hand is a different story. I actually got into with her a few weeks ago (father was an idle bystander) about doctrine. I showed her proofs for the 607 fallicy along with other things I have learned. The end result: she felt right or wrong (she admitted they are wrong in many things) that was how she was going to practice her faith. I was blown away that someone could be so blinded. yet on the other hand I can understand that sometimes people need a sense of belonging and hold to beliefs, although wrong, that seem to bring some sort of inner peace. I'm not really sure. Well at least I feel better knowing I wasn't the only sap...

God!!!! It just frys me that they brainwash these fools and they believe. I'm out but my wife still straggles behind. I have no feelings of guilt but feel free. Finishing my degree etc. Anyway every time I ask here to go back to school she gives me the same lame shit that the society preaches on how that materialistic. What!!!!! Recently she has been looking for a job (unemployed at the moment) and cannot find one. All of them want a degree of some kind. Man I look back and see how they have fucked so many people (excuse my language, it just burns me up). I keep telling her to plan for the future because this system "might" just keep going. What will she do for retirement? She keeps claiming the system will come to an end. I feel like beating my head against the wall...

YOU NEED TO CONTACT AN ATTORNEY - this will eventually go a lot deeper than it currently is. The elders work like government, slow but consistant. They are probably waiting for a full recovery and then you will be called in to an elders meeting. If you told the hospital that you do not want to be listed as a JW, the elders (who probably are aware of this as well) will interprete this as DA'ing yourself. It is up to you but I personally would not put up with this crap. Let me tell you of a story that just happened not too long ago:
A friend of mine who USED to be an elder recently was involved in a relationship. The girl was basically phsyco and trashed his car after he told here it would not work out. He got mad (can't blame him) and basically told her the next time she came near him he would beat the poop out of her (idle words, but it gets better). She than goes down to the courts and files harrasement charges against him and gets a restraining order. He gets called to court and foolishly represents himself. He admits what he said and what transpired but the judge (who appreciated his honesty) had no other recourse than to fine him - end of story, right? Wrong. He works for a lower court system as a temp worker. He recently got on as a full time gov worker. His probation was for 9 months and he was already 8 months in. He gets a call from his supervisor on one friday to come to his office. He shows up and asks whats going on. The sup tells him that he received orders from above that he was terminated. Sup had no idea why and neither did this brother since he is a good worker. To add injury to insult, he gets called into a JC by the local body of elders. He asks why? They tell him that they found out (annonymous person of course) he is not irreprehensible because he was called in before "Ceasar" for breaking the law. He acknowledged that he did go to court and that he payed the fine and that he fullfilled his obligation to the law of the land. They said that was not enough since "others" knew of this occurance and it gave a bad witness. He asked who and they would not tell him. They removed him of being an elder and all his previlges.I told him he needs to seek legal counsel, which he said no, it must be gods will and Jehovah will correct it in due time. Well he later found out that the higher ups at his previous job were witness. Somehow some of the women in records (witnesses) had read his transcripts and contacted the elders. Then someone (admin) at the job (witness) found out what had become of his removal and canned him. HE NOW HAS AN ATTORNEY and last I heard he will literally be suing the crap out of his previous job, the people involved and the elders. The people involved WILL be losing there jobs so that they cannot pull this crap in the future. He may also be getting his job back and FULL pay.
IMHO YOU NEED TO GET A LAWYER NOW!!!!
