i'm curious ~ has anyone noticed how young elders are these days?

in my old congregation, 6 of our 8 elders were under the age of 30, one of them 23, unmarried.

the father being the p.o...ironically.

Armageddon & end of World religions

i was just wondering that in the bible it states that at a time that you do not expect is the time that the end will come.

do you think that for as long as there are end of world religions then there will always be some expecting it at the correct time?

or maybe the religion or the belief that it is near will peter out due to the constant disapointments?

Do you believe that Jesus' words are true in the Gospels? I think sometimes that if at least those are true then I can concentrate on them. I don't think I believe the story of Noah is literal anymore but my hubby says neither is the story of the good samaritan, its just there to learn from so it doesn't have to be real. It would be nice to know what is literal and what isn't, sometimes I don't know how we are expected to know either way.

No, jesus is a myth. Even if he existed he was not the son of god. Believe in god but don't count on salvation. Every century has had its dooms sayers and end of times prophets and we're still rolling along. Live life, every minute, because this is quite possibly the only life you will have...

Can anyone explain WHY christianity worships a jewish sky god?!?! Why not worship the Greek god(s) or Roman or islam? I find it very humurous that we say, "Oh, those are myths", without even looking at christanity. Could it be that christanity took off because it happened to be a jewish religious sect at the time of rome that grew tremendously because of the "hope" offered? Because Rome found that there existed a rift in its populace (beliefs) they had no choice, under Constantine, to merge religion and government to get better control of the masses (religion has been very powerfull, ie government, for centuries). Since western society is based off of roman culture we naturally adopted the religion of the romans - christanity. So, lets say rome had massive problems with the muslims and they lived in the area instead of the jews, does that mean then today the accepted western religion would be some form of islam?

As I was mentioning this to a JW I explained to them that I do not need to show whether there religion is right or wrong, all I have to do is go to the root or core which is christanity. If that can be shown to be false and pagan in nature than it makes no difference which "christian" religion you subscribe to, they are all false. The same goes, IMO, with all religion.

Robbed Again!

thursday morning 2am cst i got a call from the garland pd my shop was broken into again 3 times this year i am so hopping mad because this is going to put me out of business i can't claim on insurance not that much only a few hundred dollars but the clean up and disruption of business i am at the point of buying a gun.

i had one of the guys replace the window again and this time put heavy duty cage wire over all of the windows.

any suggestion on how to deal with this anger?

You need to buy and install the roll down metal security covers that go over windows and or doors. They take a lot to break into and are not that expensive.

i talked to my mom yesterday.

she just had to vent about some "brother" in her car group this week.

he had been in the hospital and racked up a $25,000.00 bill but had no insurance to pay for it.

What an ass wipe!!!!!!!! I was in the hospital with over a 100K worth of bills. I do have insurance but I still owed a hefty co pay. Did I shirk it or BEG from some charity? No! I made arrangements with the hospital who reduced my bill slightly and offered me a monthly payment plan with no interest. So the hospitals DO work with you. What a worthless piece of SHIT!!!!!!!!!!
