I raised my hand...I was the only one who hadn't smoked
by crazy2try ini was with a group of my co-workers.
we work with people who have addictions.
one woman in our huddle was going off about how everyone in the room as tried weed.

i don't drink or smoke (have never tried smoking anything) --- NOT raised a JW but a baptist. we couldn't dance or drink and were lectured about dating catholics, among others. i don't recall the older folks even smoking. nonetheless, never smoked, never drank and had no desire growing up in a household where my father smoked continuously. I was raised to think alcohol was the devil (parents were far from being religious) but I think those who enjoy alcohol and don't abuse are fortunate. i don't want the extra calories of alcohol although having a lifestyle of socializing and realize how enjoyable alcohol is to many.

by easyreader1970 inas i see it, there are three looming threats that all have the potential - individually or combined - to bring the wbts to its knees, at least in the united states, anyway.. 1. youth retention.
the young people aren't buying it.
the watchtower will argue that faithless young people are giving in to demonic persuasion and leaving the truth.

Christians: Do you believe Jesus is the only way?
by sabastious ini was walking around town and a guy on a bike comes up to and shoves a cardboard bum sign in my face with "jesus is the only way" written in classy sharpy marker.. check out this scripture:.
john 14: 6 - jesus answered, "i am the way and the truth and the life.
no one comes to the father except through me.. according to this scripture the guy's sharpy message was correct.. do you believe this message?.

Assuming one does believe this scripture (I do believe this scripture) --- what does it really mean, "except through me." Are we to view Jesus as our LORD and not pray to God (but to Jesus) or just have the privilege NOW because of Jesus' or on the merits of him --- I'm so confused. Have read on here that the mainstream churches worship JESUS, (or do they consider Jesus as God in the flesh which I don't understand at this point) and I still believe that Jesus and God are TWO SEPARATE INDIVIDUALS. Religions have certainly caused much confusion.
Appreciate viewpoints or scriptures.

Does Canada welcome the Watchtower's expansion and having all this added free healthcare? UNREAL! religions are, obviously, TAX-FREE, in Canada or they wouldn't bother.
WHY ARE THEY TAX EMEMPT in US (watchtower) since they do not legitimately qualify as a charity --- other than their lame excuse of helping people thru their magazines which our gov't knows is an excuse. They should be FORCED to turn all their properties into food kitchens and orphanages.

i believe various brothers (and lawyers) have pointed out the danger of having a catholic style chain of command and centralized leadership.
