So very sorry --- if life isn't difficult enough to lose our best friends and, in my opinion, the only unconditional love in the world. I don't think I can go through this heartache again and know I need to toughen up to have the privilege of owning another dog. I lost my turtle of 25 yrs. and my dog within a 3 month period of time (and my Dad -- not a good year!) and maybe adopting more pets that are in dire need of good homes help alleviate pain.

it is so antithetical to their way of doing things, and forces you into a state of mind they hate.
it gets you out of whatever bubble you live in.
you're expected to be an adult, which is the exact opposite of what the society wants from you.. in my english 101 class we have watched r rated movies, talked about religion, learned how to recognize and dissect propoganda and my professor openly states that his goal is to challenge our prejudices and ways of thinking.
I WISH we could spread to the public on billboards, whatever, about watchtower being anti- education and how evil it is. Something to embarrass (impossible) and freak them out. Their dirt needs to be out in the open even though no one really cares but ex-members.

whatever happened to "unconditional love"?.
why is it today so many are willing to shun a friend or relative because they are just too much trouble or they do something that irritates them.... they claim that the other person is "not healty for them" or "harmful to their mental health" be it a relative or a goof friend.
too ready to write them off so to speak.. what happened to the kind of unconditional love that loves in good and bad times..... i don't get it... i guess "unconditional love" doesn't exist anymore.
I recall a professor in psych class (late 60's) spewing out there is no such thing as unconditional love. For the life of me I couldn't understand. Maybe dogs offer unconditional love.

One suffering is one too many --- and anyone w/a degree of mental health would vote for suffering/pain to be immediately eradicated. Anyone who makes themself physically sick is sick to begin with --- mentally sick/ill. Regardless, a side effect of life w/its problems and mankinds' weaknesses/sins.
Yes, AGuest, multiple, repeat, answers on this thread and many of you have exerted much time. I've not read most but get the gist and no wonder it's difficult to feed the hungry children yet alone alleviate much suffering in the world when it's so hard to accept the way of the truth and love our neighbor. Obviously, much effort for mankind in our condition! I know I'm not happy w/the little I've done but perhaps this thread will be a good reminder to join the ranks (credible aid groups, organizations) of those more focused w/other countries.

i can't say my life was ruined because i was a witness.
still, i wish that my upbringing was different.
there's a lot i don't like at all about the witnesses but by the same token, there are some very good people who happen to be jws.. i'm sure some of you hated your life as a witness and i'm sure you have valid reasons..

God has given us this magnificent earth and we are endowed w/unlimited potential to do good and feed/provide medical attn. to the world. We are a miserable failure in my opinion. The "Feeding the Children," is an incredible example (small, of course) but we're too busy investing in our own lives rather than serving others --- we've been given the earth and it's our responsibility. Sadly, I can't say I've walked away from my comforts to help those starving, dying, children. It's a concerted effort joining organizations/groups that are legitimate. Some of the xtian organizations (i'm not endorsing any) are doing much along with groups such as Rotary, etc., but it's time consuming/costly for the median class to be involved and sacrifice.
I see women in organizations slaving (for self-enhancement, power and prominence in the group's hierarchy) to contribute on a local basis --- and some provide tremendous aid, but it's not global and we are to love/care for our neighboring third world countries. Our farmers would rather plow agricultural products underground protecting their margin profit (after all man has to make a livin' and pay for their children's education/country clubs for status) and this is reality. Materialism chokes and is a drug addiction and we can't walk away and follow the Christ forsaking our desires yet we can gather enough tax money to send man to the moon and make our politicians filthy rich but who wants to risk their health, life, possessions, feel-good pleasures (bla bla) and help others if it's not thru this forced avenue (which half of society pays nothing and more cheat & doesn't work and goes into the wrong hands anyway). It takes a drastic change of heart of following the Christ.
