An Old Argument.... does it hold water?

Estimates range from 4 million to 15 million children die from starvation each year on this planet. That's between 500 and 1700 children a day, depending on what numbers you accept. Still, no matter which numbers you use, doesn't this make you arrive at one of the following conclusions?

1- God is evil.
2- God cannot or will not hear and answer prayers.
3- An omnipotent god simply does not exist.

If you are searching for appropriate comeback - can there really be one?

If I were God, or if you were God, would you allow this to go on for hundreds of years without intervention? Come on!

There will be those who will lay vague claims like: "Well, God's plan is better than ours." "God knows best, and since he is superior to us in understanding, it will all work out for the best."

Your view? Please share. Try and stick to the point.

This comes up anytime any religion teaches that a "miracle" occurred to save someone's life when thousands just like that person died in identical circumstances.

The usual explanation is that "god still had a purpose for that person here on earth" - but that "god needed those other children in heaven".

I find this explanation does not hold water - it is just an excuse for what is unexplainable in the context of "god-driven miracles".

So that I might not blame God for all the tribulations I like to believe that if Jehovah can make the stones cry out (the good news) Luke 19:40 so reverse it and know that Jehovah can and does (I am sure) cause the people in tribulation relief from their suffering, as if they were earth stone. Because I know I can not bear too much like some people bear up. And it is human government that cause it. Therefore Jehovah is the least one who cleans up OUR mess. If we will ALL believe the tribulation is our fault, it will be removed. Keep blaming God, why not? Seeing that it is OUR fault, logic is saying we are saying we are god. We are not God.

What kind of "father" would sit by and do nothing while his children are being abused or are starving to death?

What kind of parent promises to make it all better but doesn't?

4-15 million children are starving every year because of our decisions, actions or lack of actions.

WE are starving our children.

This is the same question as 'why does God allow suffering?'

I think I shared my view of that with you on another thread.

(James - God needed those children in heaven is not a reason you willl EVER hear come out of my mouth. Because it is untrue. Suffering happens because we cause and continue the cycle.)

Oh yes! You know the kind of holes that we the people let be at the TOP? Well, they have children (God knows how) and then they do for their children-you know, put them above the law, like we would all like to be-and the children become worse than the holes because they are taught they are not responsible. And on and on. I let it happen, you don't? I don't want to let it happen, and you don't care, because it is God's fault, but that is ridiculous, so then there is no god, but then He is not here to asisst. Some of you seem to want Him to help and not believe in him at the same time. I know Jehovah is working for the Kingdom Come, but I think we have to cooperate, don't you? Oh, can't, that might prove the Society had something going that was correct. THEY MUST BE WRONG AT ALL COST.*

Ask the mothers of those dying babies if He's doing anything, anything at all for them. I seem to recall scripture saying he'll fix it and make it all better. So what's the holdup?

"There by the grace of god go I" is a saying. I say what god would allow it to happen to someone else in the first place? Where is the grace for that person?
