YEP - I hear ya and never have worn political items myself in past (or opened my mouth in public - I've still been verbally attacked in art group settings more than once by not participating in their strong political opinions and another human merely discussing her views to me - that's radically wrong. I actually lie low even in social settings (dinners) with other couples, but when I have an opportunity in venue without being harmed (big assumption today) I take advantage of it. Hopefully, there's no dictator-thugs hanging around the assisted/memory care facility and I enjoy the Vets and special events on their behalf. I can't believe what human beings have encouraged/promoted in this country - it's sickening especially to many who have never been strong right or left.

Everyone is clearly entitled to their own opinions and it's good to be able to discuss and learn from one another. I thought I was quite liberal - WOW - still upset about Viet Nam and my cousins.

Why not enjoy wearing (if any venues exist that are safe from dictators/left extremists - obviously caps can't be worn fashionably other than very casual/mundane attire) if one feels so inclined. Who needs the approval and fashion advice of others. I 'heard' no one criticizing/physically harming anyone wearing Obama/Ole Hil paraphernalia -- forever pink Hil t-shirts and I've friends who still wear them but around the house -- fortunately. Many were shunned by the Obama worshippers --even while remaining silent and undecided Dems! Quite a training program re/attack&shut down anyone not ra ra for their candidate and quite eye opening.

I doubt JWs care to mention what religion they're affiliated with at the door (I've heard this more than a few times - word is out re/the cult) so doors won't be slammed immediately, and they aren't going to blow a potential study/convert revealing the daughter's possible interest in the religion. I don't like the JW's aggressive behavior re/the mother's phone but he could be upset/angry in the event the daughter lied and put him in this negative situation and now he's dealing with a big issue. Regardless - he's the adult and she is just a young girl -- he could have used self control and conducted himself in a cultured way or just lost it if the mother was accusational, crazy/whatever.

I commend the parents being protective of their daughter especially if aware of the WT cult. They've hurt/scarred too many innocent people and haven't cared a bit about the victims or their welfare.

I was surprised today by what I saw a JW driving

i was out thrift shopping where my sister lives.

before i went in to the store, i went to donut shop a few doors down.

as i walked up, there by the window was a family and others eating donuts.

rickroll - You are right re/the "leftist liberal hippie cult type." However, these were far from educated elitists other than the 'same as college education reading the WT rhetoric'. The left wasn't so 'elitist' nor 'academically credentialed' back then. There are a few here but they snubbed anyone not in same economic circle of poverty and lived in gov't housing when they could have afforded to pay for normal housing. Taking advantage of dirt cheap situations and wouldn't budge.

I think they left because of family and they wanted to start their own fam - I loved them - he's the nicest guy in the world and so balanced. Couldn't have an enemy in the whole wide world. I'd open my home to them anytime!

I could be all wrong why they left (or booted out/lol) but hard to imagine they'd kick people out for porn - I assumed it was common at Bethel -- but not back then when they were here.

for example, when puerto rico was devastated by a hurricane, wtc directed a large number of congregations to donate $1500 each in supplies that would be used for relief purposes.

it is not known how many congregations took part in this effort but the feedback suggests it was in the hundreds.

I saw through it but couldn't believe -- assumed (stupid) it was my test -- that and everything else! I clearly wasn't on my toes like you were LHG! You win the prize - I got tough in the end, believe me. Also, having a child and nephew/niece posed another set of problems. Mostly my own child dealing with them at school and the evil -- some messed up JW kids - worldly parents even had issues with a particular hardliner's brat(s) and co-JW friend. It wasn't the kids' fault -- bad parenting. Real mucky mucks in the cult - the cult parents fighting - cussing, yelling, screaming and the kid(s) go to school and jealous messed up crazies. Oh my - you get into situations w/people at your home because of your family.

Funny story - one time we had an ex-bethelite couple staying in our home and it was night time -- my husband (never a JW!) went downstairs to check on something in the house and one of the TV sets was on in area other than area they were in w/TV. He returned upstairs and was laughing (I can't stop lolol now!) and said, 'I don't want to say anything, but I think I just caught the brethren watching porn'! I didn't even know we had a channel for that but found out it's part of the whole cable package. I couldn't and DIDN'T believe him -- really!! I was laughing and I asked my husband 'how can you say something like that'? I thought my husband was kidding around but I could tell he wasn't and I asked him if he said anything to him -- he said nope - he just ignored. I couldn't imagine at the time - (naive) nor believe I'd ordered a cable package that had porn.

Good points re/materialism - the scripture about a showy display of one's wealth comes to mind but they boast about all the cult's properties -- even how many cranes the cult owns and word it like 'we own ? cranes in this country alone' -- I couldn't believe my ears.

It doesn't matter if you drive an old Hugo and wear a wardrobe from Walmart -- the nosey cult members make it their plan to get into your home - your fridge, your vacay home, scrutinize every piece of clothing on your body - go to the stores to check out the price tags (FACT) complain to the elders about your materialistic life -- (I could care less but did try to dress like a vagrant) beg for this/that the other -- everything from furniture to asking to look through your donation piles and trash. I'd even switch cars when necessary driving a big ole 4 door boat - I hated it and dumped it as soon as I could. Ones working at the high end malls (oh gawd) hound you w/selling - calls to come into the store when it's slow for their superior's commissions, try to find out your credit limits - unreal. You might as well drive a Rolls Royce because they are haters (no matter no matter) except when they need money and then the stage syrup gets drippy. I get the class divisions in this country but where's the common decency (forget about love, kindness, thankfulness or the Jesus xtianity story) after the gift/check is signed.

Ahh, yes, another McCarthyism puppet -- I do hope her career is solid otherwise she might have competition with the younger/pretty ones for commercials, etc., who put their bucks (for enhancement) with the renown, plastic surgeons, of Beverly Hills.
