i don't see anything about washing your hands for 20 seconds, but they did insist on washing the hands.. (there has to be some hebrew or greek word for hand sanitizer).

I keep hearing 20 seconds - sing Happy Birthday song twice/bla bla. I wash above the wrist because of smart watch and silicon band - have such raw hands/wrists having to slather on creams/lotions (day and night) which make hands feel yucky and dirt flying thru air must stick. Can't wear a watch any longer - thinking of removing ring - time consuming scrubbing. I tried wearing thin plastic gloves for few minutes this morning and wash them while on hands -- not good idea.

Hope the planet heats up real fast and miraculously burns the horror out - doubtful it will kill this monster.

this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.

latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

Not all states delayed lock-down measures. NY dragged their feet and encouraged keep living as normal - under 40 or 50 yr. olds to carry on the social/nite life. I understand no one wants to be an alarmist. No special directives for seniors. Even California took a protective course.

Regardless - I think many heavily-populated tourist cities have had this virus spreading around since November. I've never been around so many people with colds, sore throats, red eyes, etc., (housekeepers to service oriented operators - manicurists, dentist, hair stylists) in my entire life. Quick cares stuffed full with people - (more than one visit) younger people (older ones, also) - 20 to late 40s that I'm aware of. Call it the flu - I'm not so certain. This area is crawling with Chinese who travel back and forth monthly/weekly and live both places. Not good odds.

Maybe it was just being pondered but heard everything was cancelled out west. Who knows - I'm shocked the Governing Goons would take measures to protect anyone but the sheeples are their slush fund investment.

having commented earlier on experts' differing views, here's a prominent german physician/politician - wolfgang wodarg - who made controvorsial statements that the coronavirus "pandemic" is not out of the ordinary and that italy's mortality rate (8,215 deaths from coronavirus so far) is no greater than it would normally be from the 'flu virus.

in 2017/18 approx 18,000 italians died due to the flu.. the wikipedia section - controversial theses in the 2020 covid 19 crisis - is worth examining.

Dominelvimus-Di - condolences to you and your wife. This COVID-19 is such a threat to all (other than babies/youth, possibly) and seems health care workers going from home to home and in and out of several assisted living/memory care facilities are a threat to the residents. So sad.

Coronavirus Positive

hey all,.

i'm day six of isolation, confirmed to have coronavirus.

i have been seeing very sick cv positive patients over the last month in my a&e role (emergency physician) it was inevitable i would contract it.. just wanted to give some symptom and treatment advice, it's anecdotal but may help.. started as sore throat and headache, then croaky voice, then dry cough, then episodic transient fevers, all this over the first few days.

Spare a thought for the nuisance callers

up till now i have generally received (on average) one or two nuisance calls a day –sometimes more, sometimes none.

although retired, i was out of the house about 20% of the time, but now that i’m home 100% of the time, i haven’t received a single nuisance call since the lockdown.

is this just me, or is covid19 having a sever impact of their incomes?

I normally get several but notice there's only a couple per day now -- keep the land lines' ringers turned 'off' but the caller ID is full of this junk. They've easy access to my cell nos. re/online shopping - if that's how they acquire numbers. Several calls come in from prison locations here. if you don't answer they just call from normal cell numbers. So annoying. Perhaps many of these prisoners will be released soon (like in other states) and they'll be able to solicit in person.

Yes, caves - it's one of those things that seems to be on our minds and we might as well strap in -- it's gonna be a rough nite - or few weeks. It's hard to imagine - I don't panic but this is surreal although we have much to be thankful for and try to do what we can for others. Our lives have certainly changed 180 degrees. Hope you're able to calm - there should be a beautiful sun shining tomorrow, right.

What the hell do they care what they call it - this is nerve wracking for the average lay person and unimaginable what those in the front lines -- hospitals, health-care professionals/employees are experiencing. It's going to be a rough ride the next 2 to 3 weeks for this country (world in general) as we live through the steep upward trajectory of COVID 19 and it's 200,000 projected deaths here - a living horror. Even when we reach the apex it's a slo-mo downward curve.
