Hand sanitizer isn't just for outside - hospitals, doctors/nurses use it all day long and the healthcare facilities, hospitals, are receiving all these days except a few extras they drop off at stores for the consumer. The drug stores/grocers sell out of it within few minutes after on the shelves. It's crazy. That hopefully will end now that big liquor cos are manufacturing. Can't wait. I carry it in my car, in my backpack, in my handbag. I carry the small, individual, Purell wipes, also. You can buy a big box on Walmart or Amazon and lasts long time - not as convenient as the liquid but nice to have.

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

LHG - I buy hand soap/body soap like crazy and have plenty - Softsoap or something that is an antibacterial - for hands - tons of Dial. I wash hands constantly (and did previously) but this is beyond plus use hand sanitizer if if think I touched something and as insurance.
I use clorox spray cleaner on counters - Softscrub with bleach in kitchen sinks and straight bleach down in drains - daily and long before all this. I really like the clorox spray with bleach - I don't have many backups. I've got Lysol spray disinfectant cleaners and several others for counters but the clorox with bleach spray is out of stock - of course.
I know what you mean about the hand sanitizer feeling gross - I think I'm use to it now. I use to buy tons of hand sanitizers to clean my acrylic brushes and get some paint medium out of my painting clothes. I never liked for regular hand washing just the fact it wasn't as good as soap. I don't like wearing hand lotion around the house but have to use now and then because of condition of my poor hands and wrists.
I keep isopropyl (alcohol) around (I'm low but not out) around and had ordered sprayers that I place in the top - so convenient and I don't even have to pour the alcohol into another container.
This is hilarious -- a girl can't own enough disinfectants, right!

It's not amazing -- we all know soap and water does the trick but hands get a tad less irritated using the hand sanitizer a few times a day to give them a break. I wasn't using hand sanitizer much before COVID 19 (since it's only 99.999% antibacterial or something) and my hands were already in trouble. Hand sanitizer seems to be less harsh. I use the hand sanitizer much less than I use the soap and water. Also, only use certain soaps - many liquid soaps don't indicate 'antibacterial' although they claim to be but have had some chemical removed. Dial shower gel was one that had something removed but read somewhere it's still anti-bacterial - don't know but not taking chances. I still would like to stock up on hand sanitizers and rubbing alcohols. Hopefully, it will become more available to the public.
Yes - I know water is available in the tap, also, but yuck.

Yes - lots of variables that the Stanford 'experts' panel haven't figured out. I don't think NY was half as strict about stay at home. Many socializing on the public transportation at night - one doctor reporting on as she returned home late at night. New York even has wet markets - unimaginable!

All or nothing - How can California have twice as many people and gazillions of Asians were arriving daily (thousands - was it 8K) yet not the negative COVID 19 stats like NY! California is the #1 destination for Asian flights. NY shut down 2 days after California - seemed like they were much more lax about it but who knows. Weird.
I think I heard Dr. Birk indicate the elderly are in the top 97% that die although not safe for younger ones - what is the 'experts' definition of elderly - over 50? I haven't been able to listen much past few days.

I believe the 'cough' illustration - thx for the share. I'll have agoraphobia before this is over/lol. I can't imagine how slammed with business shrinks are now and once this subsides.
I think the mask biz will be quite lucrative for several mos - maybe indefinitely. People complaining they've no comfortable ones but I think it's because the comfy ones aren't available to the pubic yet.

Fall Guy - I don't have the facts but know many people who contact flu don't run to the ER gasping for breath and placed on ventilators. I hope I'm wrong and wanted to believe it was just the yearly flu episode -- horrific enough for the elderly - but when they say it's 10Xs more contagious it's alarming. I hope the populace continues with their stay at home efforts and other precautions. We certainly didn't classify Swine, Ebola the previous Sars, etc., as normal flu - (media ignored/concealed info from the public under Obama's terms until 6 mos after the fact) nor did we wreck the economy but 'experts' are in scary territory.

Do You Feel Your Rights Are Being Trampled On By Government Regarding Coronavirus?
by minimus ini support local and state and federal government’s power to safeguard the public.
i wonder is it getting to a point where we will be told we can’t go out anymore, can’t use your phone or computer anymore because of the viruses that we can get, etc.
are we prolonging this virus at all ?

I don't think so but this is one mean virus killing medical personnel and I can't imagine the toll of anyone/everyone without stay at home rules. I have friends who've daughters that are RNs and thrilled they work at hospitals that are slow and laying off - both out of state. I've not heard of any layoffs here at hospitals. My family members - 2 at different hospitals and still working - babies still being delivered and the other one is in radiology.
Hahahaha - WTWizzy - I just looked up while typing and read your first line on your last paragraph. Oh you make me lol. Love it.
I do know our golf course (all in the state) is on lock down order from the Dem governor and there's some very unhappy golfers. Too many tattle tales with too much time gawking out their windows then posting all over the place and calling complaining about them standing right next to each other. What's hilarious is the Asians who live in here who pay no country club fees (just residents in community) out walking across the course pushing their $10K baby strollers along with their other children - it's hilarious. The course is supposedly patrolled - must be patrolled by the teenage blondebomb shells that drive the beverage carts. Some people are so disrespectful and there's some people that use it as they're walking course in the wee hours -- now they'll be fined/yeah, right.

It's time consuming to say the least. I'm panicking about running out of rubbing alcohol and have gone through hand sanitizer, gloves, liquid soap, etc., paper towels, like crazy, but my supply of alcohol is limited. I'm trying to use bit less each time but probably end up using more.
I think something has been going around since fall. I've never been around more sick people in my life - the dentist, cleaning gals, manicurist, the bakery gal, hair stylist, etc., etc, family, etc. Know JWs were very ill (couldn't kick it with rest) - all that bunker hall enclosure w/germs not good. I know people who've been to ERs and quick cares more than once within a few wks. to a month (before the COVID 19 horror announced) and it's strange and have heard this from more than a few people. Couple of my friends in so cal sick for a good month - one of them is a big marathon runner and she's never sick. Good thing they cancelled the NY marathon. I did have a sore throat for a week - strange one. I didn't do anything - other than the scrubbing rituals which is inundating. Something weird out there.
