this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.

latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

Although the corrupt media won't report the facts there are a couple of drugs saving lives here and other countries. Thankfully, the governor of this state backtracked and is 'allowing' its use. It's the hydroxychloroquine combined with Z-Pack for 5 - 7 days. Saving thousands from ventilators - unreal. NY isn't going to admit it - it's all about politics and the election - but they're definitely using it saving lives and releasing patients daily.

The med is 55 yrs. old and also highly effective for Lupus and Lyme disease. There's been no 'control trial' to date but there are a gazillion clinical trials. Thank gawd - even the Democratic politician in Michigan had to fight for the med in her liberal state - it literally saved her life and she is not unique. She's more than thankful for President Trump's information and production of millions extra on behalf of the American people. Check out the experts for facts who have been prescribing the med. All the hospitals should have it now - perhaps not Michigan.

It's not the dark ages and women are going to work out in the world. I'm not saying it's good to leave children with strangers or child care facilities. I don't know how popular the new idea/construction of generational home is going to be - time will tell.

waton - the elderly care institutions here contract with professional physical therapists, RNs, etc., that visit several facilities. I'm not so certain they spread viruses and seem to take every precaution. I understand the corporate owned places are out for a profit and cut corners but the pricier ones seem to keep employees for yrs.

There are many group homes - family run and they have a negative stigma. I've heard of a couple of good healthcare agencies and most families here have such problems with caregivers showing up, theft, the elderly resident(s) wanting them off the property - many issues - it's easier to place in professional institution which is actually more expensive unless it's an inexpensive, low-rated, one. These institutions also contract with the gov't and accept a few residents on Medicaid.

I don't understand why the institutions and gov't want residents to drop their great insurance programs and sign up for the state insurance program at the facilities other than to cut down on regular medicare costs. Ratings are horrific for the state/gov't insurance programs offered via the senior institutions. I wouldn't trust the gov't to provide anything much less be in charge of protecting the elderly. It's never been a priority.

I don't understand what is paid for by the government?! Individuals and cos. pay gazillions for health insurance.

I can't tell you how many people I know in Florida who don't even leave their homes to go to shelters during storms. They do worry about their airplanes and want them moved and out of the area as a precaution but some feel safe in their homes - crazy. People will fly them out to safer areas. They're use to damage to homes and can't pick them up and scat like a plane or jet.

Perhaps when snare returns he can set the vaccine vs. flu shot matter straight. I've never heard seasonal flu shots were same as vaccines from a doctor - they always explain the positives/negatives. Vaccines certainly proved to be a positive thing in past although there's a segment of society who endangers others (and themselves) by refusing to get them - unreal.

I think the liberals need a heads-up call to reality at some of the measures taken in this country re/their illustrative leaders who make the GB members look like choir boys. People being monitored in their own yards - golf courses, parking lots. Better to deflect onto a conservative radio talk show host/hilarious. Certainly glad most here aren't judges - oh my more of the same. Even the liberal judges have to check out the law, facts/evidence and consider justice - difficult, of course.

I certainly fear the herd immunity transition and can't imagine how people can be couped up and maintain proper distance, wear protective masks, gloves, etc. Oh my. Vaccine time-miracle is critical.

Makes sense - nothing better than soap and in this case "hot" soapy water. Interesting re/the virus covered with layer of fat. So weird. I always wash with soap and then feel if the hand sanitizer is on my hands shortly thereafter it protects me - at least it helps add something 'softening' (the aloe vera/Vitamin E/whatever). I'm trying to omit the hand sanitizer part and just slather lotion.

Thx for virus info. I've not heard that but haven't even watched news updates past couple days - I'm so behind and would love to be bored for a day and forget about COVID 19 - wouldn't we all!

LHG - Forgot my fave and it's one of the best soaps I've found (seems to be out of stock these days because it says 'Hand Soap' on the front) is the Dawn Ultra Antibacterial Hand Soap (the Green Apple one). Some use it for dishwashing liquid soap (not in dishwasher, of course). It's the best in my opinion but I always keep good ole Dial around - antibacterial types, only.

I've only heard him speak on news clips but know many liberals who all have views like on here so it's a political preference more than anything else. I've heard he's changed a few viewpoints.

I've heard couple doctors say it's hit and miss with vaccines for yearly flus. They're not down to a science like for diseases as polio, small pox, etc., etc., unfortunately. They might help one not have such a severe case - they're always saying the flu vaccine was ineffective this yr. etc., but the elderly should not miss getting one in my opinion.
