Holding a grudge
by LongHairGal ini read something recently on reddit (not sure what thread) where a person related how some jw told them that ‘they hold a grudge’.. this reminded me of something an old jw acquaintance said to me some years back when i related my bad experience in the religion.. so, apparently, jehovah’s witnesses feel they should be forgiven for anything.
people should forget all about it and act like nothing happened and be charitable towards them, etc… when i read in james and ephesians i got the sense ‘holding a grudge’ was referring to the things average people do to offend each other.. i don’t see it applying to a religion that claimed to speak for god and who engendered hateful and unchristian attitudes towards people.. i know because i experienced this.. in addition, some people’s lives were damaged by listening to faulty teachings and interference in things that were clearly none of anybody’s business.. one case in point: them knocking worldly careers and now there are thousands of destitute jws in senior years with nothing.. then in 2023 the religion does away with a century old teaching about counting hours in the ministry.
meanwhile, i got judged over this.

Longy -- you're right -- they treated the non 'born ins' as 'less thans' with an attitude non-BIs were so fortunate to be around them - gag me! I felt sorry for them -- what weird people.
You caused FEAR among your insecure associates and we newbys are expected to conform to their comfort zone. I had a few of them approach/inform me they checked out the lines of clothing I purchase and the amounts. I dressed conservatively - nothing provocative but attire was not from their allowed stores. One even told me to shop at 'X' like everyone else. As you know, it would not have mattered what we wore. I had a skirt, jacket, blouse on with boots (flat/very low heel boot - cold, windy, weather) and a CO glared at me like I was a harlot. I didn't know he was the CO -- assumed some gawking misfit so I snubbed him. One of the do-gooders informed me he only liked low-heeled pumps -- all were trying to accommodate his desires and not happenin' in my world. The next meeting I made sure I wore boots with the higher heel - not sleezy boots!! My fave 😂 were a couple of JWs (one older and how she rocked spike heels at her age is beyond me) fashioned with textured hosiery -- now that's a tad on the trashy side at a place of worship in my book -- she could pull it off okay. The ole goat must have lost his vision checking them out.
Congratulations you're a free woman -- WOO HOO! If you lived near by we could visit a hall - oh my.🤣 No, we could commiserate and have FUN.

Longy -- I think it's great you let them know how good you're doing. I'm sure some have a lot to think about after bumping into you.
Halls are big cliques plus it's much harder for single women and those with unbelieving mates. I heard more than one JW wife w/believing mate make derogatory comments about single JW women -- unreal. I'm sure they're more than happy to omit inviting them especially ones with lucrative careers - not like there's many in that category.🤣

Thank all the gods/stars for your upbringing and common sense. You had a career they could only dream about and most only accept ones on the same level - thus all the haranguing. Those oldies with comfy lives were clueless how the disadvantaged live. It is quite an attraction for irresponsible misfits who do not want to work and be slugs - I couldn't believe.

Longy - you must be on a constant high knowing you stuck to your guns and bailed that evil cult. It would take 100 yrs for them to act loving/accepting of non-JWs no matter what their MO is this month.
I was shunned but too busy with my own life to cave to their demands. My life - I smiled and did the opposite of everything the hard-liner 'conductor' demanded. Our basketball team was hot during my cult-time (5 college teammates going pro and the town was on fire w/b-ball fever and I don't even get too involved with anything that bounces!) 'association' and I was too busy jetting around to the various games w/husband/friends and if games were local I attended instead of meetings - priorities! Assumed there'd be plenty of meetings after the season. I missed a memorial when out of town and the hardliner went ballistic. I did everything wrong -- yeah!!
I always appreciated the scripture re/being loaded down/come to Jesus (something like that -- not judgmental, lazy, non-working, begging, WT/people!) -- that did it for me. Actually, lots of eye openers and I was so happy to avoid all of it.
Celebrate your retirement/freedom from WT daily!

What would happen if the religion just straight out gets outed as bad? The ORG admits to it and all the members get told to disperse
by Starlight.vee inlike the org just gives up and comes out saying that all of what they are saying is untrue and that there is no armageddon, nothing.
how do y’all think the the members still in it would react?.
there be a mental health crisis i perhaps.

Perhaps WT's conventions are more Bible-based w/Jesus being interspersed - good thing for religion. Interesting to know if more scholarly interpreted.

Is it possible JWs are doing better in UK than US? Seems many transplants ('come-heres'😂) are JWs around this neck of the woods and cali - Greeks, Asians, Phillipinos, etc.
Why would WT pull down the tent when there's so many adherents' homes/estates to snatch up. They're fishin'/hounding my 'friend' who returned to the fold about her property.
This country would never clamp down on WT -- they aid in keeping population down and lockstep to gov rules/regs.

Beth Sarim -- ahh, the ole 'we're not here to debate' line. Heard it frequently when studying from the clergy-class, dictator, conductor, re/their door to door experiences.
