  Episodes of Craziness

  over the last ten years or so i`ve seen and heard things which when.

  looked at objectively can only be termed `craziness`.however, in some.

  cases these episodes of craziness might be viewed as wonderful testimonies to a strong commitment to jahovah.

  Had one seriously crazy one given to me as an example of what a good wife should emulate.

  Sister B, who was married before she became a witness, had a husband who turned abusive when she began to study. Sometimes he would be very violent, but Sister B, being the spiritual person she was, decided she should stick with her husband. She put up with his abusive behaviour until one night he shot her, killing her, in front of their children.

  It was about then I began to realise and question and ..... you know where that leads to!

  On "The New System"

  "you can live forever in a paradise on earth".

  in my years as a witness and even after, i've thought about "the new system" and everything i was taught.. during the thousand years, there would be millions coming back from the dead.

  during that time we'd all learn one single language and reach perfect physical health.

  Barring disease, old age and murder, how else can one die? Unexpectedly, right? Drowning, fire, falling from a cliff, etc. So what is this all of a sudden? An OSHA paradise? What about non-fatal accidents? Breaking a bone or loss of a limb

  – being 9yo when we were first contacted, I was still rather curious. I asked about this stuff – and I was told that because we would be perfect, these little accidents wouldn’t happen.

  Now imagine telling a Witness teenager to remain single in order to devote more time to spiritual things, then turn around and spring it on them that come the New System, you're single forever. "Millions now living will never die!" Yeah, or get laid either!

  yeah this one used to get to me. The standard answer – once again – was that we’d be perfect! That way, we wouldn’t miss it. Like hades!

  I’m glad they didn’t have all the “answers” (??!!) [8>] – helped with the boredom at meetings. I used to have all sorts of fun working out ways to get all that power, take care of waste, what we were going to build our houses out of etc – what else was a girl to do during lectures…er sorry, loving instructions from the platform?

  I hated the fact that stillborn babies wouldn't be resurrected to paradise - never did get an answer to that one. I knew a few couples who had miscarriages, imagine how they felt?

  Thanks Wolfy - yep, just the same bunch of rhetoric. guilt and paranoia as there was before I stopped going. Reminds me what I have been missing all these years LOL [8>].

  Get this...We have to be alert at all time...Can we trust what our mate or family member says?

  is this a new age form of divide and conquer, or just another "red under the bed" thing? Could they be alarmed at the fact that people can actually find out some real facts from the internet these days?

  The bits about not murmering against the elders goes very nicely with Amazing's post on elders and sins.

  WTS SAYS ELDERS SINS DON'T COUNT!

  sometime ago i posted a discussion on h20 about the nov. 1991 kingdom ministry school for elders / ms held at woodburn, oregon.

  during that school session the co stated that elders who commit a serious sin, even a gross sin, did not have to be removed if the event took place two or three years prior, and the elder continued to be respected, giving evidence of jehovahs blessing.

  the co stipulated that this only applied to elders and ms and not to regular publishers.

  Note that all a brother has to do after he commits an act of adultery, or murder, or pedophilia, he simply holds out for three years, give good counsel, and by hiding the sin he can keep the respect of the congregation, then like magic, he can continue to serve

  A good summation of the evidence, IMO. It sounds like any other patriachal "old boys club" to me - all looking after each other and the riff raff treated like peons.

  Position on College Changed?

  several have made outright statements and others have suggested that the society's negative position on higher education has changed.

  'the society does not discourage higher education where i live.

  ' worse, 'apostates have made it all up--the society has never discouraged education.

  .......because it is something that many on this board feel strongly about?

  .......because it is another of our lost youthful dreams?

  .......because so many of us wanted to take our education further, but the WTS let us "know", without coming right out and saying it, that we couldn't?

  .......because the hypocracy of them, sheltering behind the "we never actually said it" pose really gets to us?

  Many have gone on to further education after leaving dubdom, but it is not easy. It is hard to go back to studying -family responsibilites, lack of time or resources can make it difficult or impossible. We know that it would have been easier to do it straight from school, IMHO.

  a friend lost

  on thursday, the 21st, i lost a dear friend.. he was an older man, some 25 years older than me.

  he was not a dub.

  we became friends over 10 years ago because of a mutual hobby, that of ham radio, or amateur radio if you prefer.

  I'm sorry for your loss Zev. It is hard to lose a friend, they are so precious. Being relieved that he is not suffering anymore is not horrible. A true friend would never want the other to suffer.

  Hi Tracysdad, welcome to the board – hope to see more of you. Clever guy, staying away from dubdom. Gopher has it right, the “love” at the memorial is their yearly recruitment drive thing. Its like voting day – driving to pick up anybody who shows the least bit of interest, and making sure they “see” all the “love” there.

  Hello Disengaged – welcome. You will find many here who feel the same way you do about the WTS. I also did a term of about 25 years inside, and have never regretted leaving it all behind.

  Francoise – so now we know some of your story. Being with the dubs causes a lot of pain, doesn’t it. Make people try to squeeze into moulds that are not humanly possible, then make you feel guilty because you can’t. It is definitely a no-win situation. I could never understand the beard thing either (a non-issue with me, being female) but just accepted it like everything else they keep shoving in your face.
