....I used to believe in the resurection after death....either to be found worthy of everlasting life or for judgement. However, today I do not really care what happens when I die, and I am not scared either. I don't care about my mistakes from yesterday nor do I worry about tomorrow. I live my life each day to the fullest and try do do good. Maybe the dead can communicate with us, I would not necessarily doubt it, but it has not happend to me yet and it is not important to my well being at the moment.

pack a pillow, some dishes (or are they being supplied?) maybe a small box you can look up (you never know)
go to the meetings with regular clothes and change there.....(use late classes excuse).
get the used Honda, but have it checked out first....at carfax.com, you can get a report on the car, if it has been in an accident, mileage and so on, how many owners.....cost is 19.95

Back To School--School Uniforms, Good or Bad?
by horrible life inwe just got back from texas'.
they had their annual tax free weekend.
with hotel, gas, food, and shopping, we spent $1000.00 easy.

The thing with school uniforms is, that if you need to replace something in the middle of a school year, you will find it hard to find anything. Even before school started, my friend is running from store to store and they just don't have hardly anything left.
Sure, it might be cheaper for families to clothes their kids for school with uniforms.....but they still need other clothes for after school. So you really need two sets of clothes, which is more expensive in the end.

How are your marriages fairing after leaving?
by 24k injust a little bit about myself before you answer:
i was raised a jehovah's witness by my mother, who got "the truth" by studying with inlaws who were already members.
my father had been disfellewshipped for joining the army a few years before i was born, and has nevered returned to the organization.

I was already married when I got baptized....actually I was 7 years married. At first my husband took th ekids to Grandma's for birthdays and christmas celebrations, I joined them the day after.......at times I was not even allowed on their property or in their house, because of my JW religion.
Later my husband stood by my side, denfended me and even studied for many years, never to the point of baptism though. He came along to all conventions and assemblies.....never gave me a hard time, really. My daughter wanted to get baptized at age 16 or 17, but I told her to wait.....good thing I did.
When I deceided to call it quits after 13 years, he supported me just the same.....and we are now happier than ever. Nobody forcing you to attend Sunday meetings if you would rather go to the beach....it is wonderful.

I am NOT going to smoke a cigarette today
by DanTheMan in.
so there.. i have been smoking on and off since about 1999, and i'm tired of it.
it's time to quit for good.. i will be revisiting this thread before i go to bed tonight, and i will at that time be able to post that i made it through the day without a single puff of tobacco smoke.
-
sunshine2
Hey Dan,
hope you make it through the day and continue to do so.
I quit smoking twice for 7 years and it seemed easy for me.....don't ask why I started again.....but both times I did it "for Jehaovah", or better said, once to get baptized and once not to be disfellowshipped. This time I guess I started because I COULD!!!! Got out of the organization, so.....Hehe......
But I set the date for September 16th...that will be my new quitting date, hope to be able to keep it up myself. It is not so much a physical addiction as it is a habbit. Whenever you get into the car, whenever the phone rings, after dinner and with a good drink.....
Well, got go and smoke while I can.

What's Your Status? Christian, Pagan, "I Don't Know", "I Don't Care"??
by minimus injust curious......
-
sunshine2
I would consider myself christian, but only due to the fact that I believe in Christ and always loved the scripture where Jesus said to love God and our neighbor, and that on these two commandments the whole law hangs......
but I have realized that I really do not pray anymore and I do not attend any churches, though I have been to 2 or 3 different ones just to see. So am I christian? I don't know.
I celebrate ALL the holidays now....so am I pagan? I don't know.
sometimes I doubt the whole Bible ....so am I atheist? I don't know.
I'm me, trying to be a good person.

I talked about this with a disfellowshiped sister who wants to go back eventually......she had no clue that literature was being changed, and not just quotes. She was pretty surprised. I printed out the page from the net and hope to be able to give it to her next time we meet.
And today and the doctor's office I confiscated an Awake and a Watchtower....haha.

Another letter from WBTS re: UN Scandal
by Gadget inquite a while ago i mentioned to my parents about the un scandal but they didn't seem too interested, but when i called in the other day my mother mentioned it to me again.
they had a elder and his wife (family friends who i was previously very very close to) staying with them for the convention and discussed it with them.
the elders wife is a very strong personality and super-spiritual but when she heard of the scandal back in spring she had a huge problem with it.

I had receiced a similar letter to my UN questions.....but it said in part:
We had been using the library for many years prior to 1991, but in that year UN personnel on duty at the time told our representative that it would be necesssary to register as an NGO to have continued access.
So when I called in Brooklyn and said that surely the brothers did not just take someones word for it and asked to have this new rule in writing.......I would like to have a copy of the new rule.
But the brother said that they did not keep paperwork from so long ago....lying straight into my ear! Disgusting!
