  Going to Church for the First Time Alone

  i usually go with my boyfriend to his church, but i felt the need to explore this without him.

  so since i liked his church (church of christ) i decided to find one in my area to attend.

  i was a really nice experience.

  but if theirs is the right way, what are all the other ways

  maybe I should have explained it better.......this is what they say to all people, whether they go there or not. God is within you, therefore he is with ALL people, so there is noone better than the other. There is no judging........check them out on their website, maybe I just don't explain myself right.....only been there twice.

  I never realized how many times the Society uses these vage words.....not being sure of anything, but implying they know everything. No proof, just speculation. I wonder how many times they use this kind of talk in their other literature.

  Has it always been this way, and I just never noticed it? Probably.

  talking about churches.......today I went the second time on a Sunday to the "Unity Church"...it was very nice and I feel good going there. I had written about this before. There are no denominations...many attending are catholics or have other religious beliefs - it does not matter to anybody. Their slogan is: "there is one right way - your're on it" .....there is no preaching or anything. The sermon helps to think more positive, to eliminate negativity and to love.

  Today was potluck lunch and I ended up staying for lunch and afterwards helped mail out the monthly newsletter.

  I probably will never be ready for anyone to explain or interpret the Bible to me.....and I don't need it to serve God.

  Who can and can't a JW sit next to at the hall?

  there are so many unwritten laws, but most witnesses know when it's wrong to sit next to someone.. name a few cases, when it's ok to sit next to someone, and when it's not ok?

  What's the deal with the back row?

  the back row was for mothers and kids.....that way they can take the kids quickly to the bathroom if they were too loud......

  i don't know whether this particular song is still in the new brown song book, but the chorus goes:.

  'fear not those who kill the body, but cannot destroy the soul,.

  to the end continue faithful, i will bring you to your goal.'.

  I always hated singing that song, because it made me feel as if we were teaching one thing, and then singing another.......I never understood that song....but never asked about it.

  ....this is what the bible says.......then how is it that the wtbts lays up even more rules and regulations then they had in the mosaic law?

  does this not defeat the purpose of christ's death?

  if the law was the tutor leading to christ, now that he died for us, why all these rules?

  .....so if gifts of prophecying were done away with, maybe the society did not read this scripture.......maybe this is the reason they are always wrong.

  i wonder how a witness would explain this scripture.

  In my view, the core message of the NT is A) Love, and B) Judgement belongs to God. Everything else should be read in the light of these two things

  that's exactly true.....and the Bible talk about unconditional love, just as Jesus had. And you do not get that from the JW's....and judging belongs to God, and yet this is what JW's do all the time. They even speak of bad association within the congregation.....how bad is that?
