New Light - July 15, 2008 SE of the WT - Sower and Seed - another angle
by independent_tre ini've seen the topic where they try to explain invisible growth, but something else about this wt magazine stands out.
if this isn't adulterating the word of god, i don't know what is.
the wts has done it again and managed to usurp jesus' position and interject themselves into his place.

isn't it funny how sisters could be called upon to read scriptures, surely more important than the paragraphs from a book, but only read the actual book if there was no alternative (no qualified brothers) available.

Notice that in 1922 they “knew” that the resurrection of the anointed had at least begun if not come to completion. And yet in 2007 they are in discussion about when this took place. *** re chap. 26 pp. 172-173 God’s Sacred Secret—Its Glorious Climax! *** Jehovah Takes Power 6 Christ enthroned in God’s Kingdom—what joy this announcement calls forth! John reports: “And the twenty-four elders who were seated before God upon their thrones fell upon their faces and worshiped God, saying: ‘We thank you, Jehovah God, the Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and begun ruling as king.’”—Revelation 11:16, 17. 7 The ones that offer these thanks to Jehovah God are the 24 elders, symbolizing the anointed brothers of Christ in their heavenly positions. From 1922 onward a remnant on earth of these 144,000 anointed ones got busy in the work that was set in motion by the trumpet blasts. They came to realize the full import of the sign at Matthew 24:3–25:46. Even earlier in the Lord’s day, however, their fellow witnesses who had already ‘proved faithful even to death’ had been resurrected to take their positions in heaven, so that they could now represent the entire group of 144,000 in falling upon their faces to render homage to Jehovah. (Revelation 1:10; 2:10) How thankful all of these are that their Sovereign Lord has not delayed in bringing his sacred secret to a climactic finish! *** w07 1/1 p. 28 pars. 11-13 “The First Resurrection”—Now Under Way *** What, then, can we deduce from the fact that one of the 24 elders identifies the great crowd to John? It seems that resurrected ones of the 24-elders group may be involved in the communicating of divine truths today. Why is that important? Because the correct identity of the great crowd was revealed to God’s anointed servants on earth in 1935. If one of the 24 elders was used to convey that important truth, he would have had to be resurrected to heaven by 1935 at the latest. That would indicate that the first resurrection began sometime between 1914 and 1935. Can we be more precise? 12 At this point, it may be helpful to consider what might be viewed as a Bible parallel. Jesus Christ was anointed as the future King of God’s Kingdom in the fall of 29 C.E. Three and a half years later, in the spring of 33 C.E., he was resurrected as a mighty spirit person. Could it, then, be reasoned that since Jesus was enthroned in the fall of 1914, the resurrection of his faithful anointed followers began three and a half years later, in the spring of 1918? That is an interesting possibility. Although this cannot be directly confirmed in the Bible, it is not out of harmony with other scriptures that indicate that the first resurrection got under way soon after Christ’s presence began. 13 For example, Paul wrote: “We the living who survive to the presence of the Lord [not, to the end of his presence] shall in no way precede those who have fallen asleep in death; because the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice and with God’s trumpet, and those who are dead in union with Christ will rise first. Afterward we the living who are surviving will, together with them, be caught away in clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and thus we shall always be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17) Therefore, anointed Christians who died before Christ’s presence were raised to heavenly life ahead of those who were still alive during Christ’s presence. This means that the first resurrection must have begun early in Christ’s presence, and it continues “during his presence.” (1 Corinthians 15:23) Rather than occurring all at once, the first resurrection takes place over a period of time.

qualifications for readers are spelled out in the "elders" book and the best are used for the tower study. In the bookstudy itself the best readers were given preference. And yes sisters would be used where necessary.

Notice the admonition to follow the FDS. You might think they would have said to follow the biblical counsel, but oh no, it's follow the counsel of the FDS. The cut and paste follows.
(Just a side note on the last comment. I know of a brother that was inspired to accept a bible study because a brother decided to respond with kindness when the householder was very mean and insulting.
After he demanded the brother to get off his porch he stopped the brother and invited him back. He apologized and told the brother he was looking for someone who really demonstrated the fruitages of God's "personality". He said he felt anyone who's religion taught them to return kindness for evil must be sticking to the Bible.
Remember, you NEVER KNOW who is watching or who you are talking to. Follow the counsel of the FDS and you will never go wrong.) -

Does anyone remember the big 6 month Bible study push during the mid 1990s?
by neverendingjourney ini was a regular pioneer for a while during the mid 90s, about a year or two after the knowledge book replaced the live forever book as the primary bible study manual.
around that time the society began to spew a bunch of b.s.
about the end being so near (hadn't heard that one before) and how there were waiting lists for bible studies in many former soviet countries.

I can remember the assembly when the truth book was released and the six month study explained, and yes I can remember the queasy feeling that know the end had to be imminent. What a fool I was, but as has been pointed out it was not long before it was dropped as being important, because as has been pointed out, if you dropped a study, then what. I do wonder if partly it shows how out of touch the gb is with the real world. Did they possibly think that this would push the pubs to find new studies, studies that just did not exist?

The only thing that bugs me when I read things like this is the rhet·o·ric from the podium that they are "better" than anyone else at everything including comforting those who have suffered a loss to death, whereas the reality is that they are often less prepared. Couple that with the fact that they have had numerous Watchtower articles teaching them as well as a tract for special use in this regard, the elders in particular being trained, and it just shows that in real life they are not what they claim to be; better than anyone else.

My experience has been that most are totally clueless when it comes to dealing with persons with those type of challenges unless they have a family member. I think that it is the rationale that you are dealing with numbers more than people.
