Where did YHWH Originate?
by cameo-d inseveral biblical scholars have suggested that yahweh originated with a group known as the shasu, canaanite nomads from southern transjordan.
an egyptian inscription at karnak from the time of pharaoh amenhotep iii (1390-1352 b.c.e.
) refers to the "shasu of yhw," evidence that this god was worshiped among some of the shasu tribes at this time.[2].

What happened to the "great crowd" ???
by 1914BS ini noticed the complete abscence of any reference to the great crowd in recent watchtower magazines.. the latest jan 15 2010 wt now calls the "other sheep" rank and file witnesses the ......"growing crowd" i think you'll find that on the last page of that wt.
has the interpretation of the "great crowd" changed again?
it seems the anointed class has now stolen both the titles "generation" and "great crowd" any thoughts on this?.

responding to Tuesday. My opinion only, but having been there in memory of my own childhood and having had two children of my own, I truly believe that "at least most" did not "leave" at that age. They may have rebelled at the control etc. but "I" (realize that this is my opinion) do not feel that they have the maturity to make a decision like that (leaving or blood) . The vast majority of JW kids have not even made the truth their own till somewhat later in life. Why do most challenge the idea of a 14 year old taking on the decision of dedication and baptism? I realize that this is only my opinion and a highly subjective area. I also get a chuckle when reading how Russell did all the adult things (getting into the family busuness, going on buying trips, etc.) Maybe part of the business sweeping up the warehouse, would be more like it. I make these observations as on old fart, with the knowledge of the diversity of people and all, but 14 is very early in the maturation of an individual.

two comments from a yahoo group
I deal with depression myself so I can understand what you and your son
deal with. I have found out that dealing with it can help one to gain a
measure of self control. One time a brother from my call came over and we
talked for a bit. He said I need to put a smile on my face more often when
I go to the hall. I explained to him about the depression and how it makes
this difficult. He replied that other people at the congregation had
depression and were able to put in a happy face when they went to the
meeting. Lucky them. They either don't have it as bad as I do or are able
to get hold of some kind of effective treatment. The self control came
into play when I resisted the urge to say to this guy what I wanted to.all we really need is someone who is understanding and caring and willing to listen to our feelings without judging us. Some don't have that, they just have those who are critical or tell them to "snap out of it". Those kind of people are afraid of "feeling" anything, including Christian love. Christian love involves being empathetic to another's feelings. Jesus, I can assure you, would never tell anyone to "snap out of it" or "put a smile on your face". I so enjoy listening to talks by Bro. Ianelli. His talks reflect such Christlike empathy. "God is Greater Than Your Hearts" "Do You Have the Mind of Christ?""Comfort" ---and more, have been so encouraging not only for those who are depressed but also for others to learn what it means to show empathy.

This has been available as audio download for some time. I'm sure this is a response to (complaints)/ass kissing to have hard copy. Also do you really think they were happy being one-upped by the "apostates" providing meat in due season before they were? Keep the jwy's off the "bad" sites to get the convenience of these files.

creationist: are you trying to tell me that all those plants know where the riverbank is?.
atheist: no one designed the river!

On a more serious note, for me this is a debate that has no solution. I was showing my grandson one of those mud nests that wasps make, and for me it screams there must be a creator. Then I recall the TV image of an african holding her little child, flies buzzing about, slowly starving to death and that screams against a creator.
