apologies to Violia but - We ( all) also learned public speaking. Not "all", many of the public talks were/are not examples of good public speaking. When I was still in the public speakers were getting more and more pathetic. Oops! this is sposed to be positve. Well then the public speakers are "positively" awful.

they accept your money - any denomination, any currency and will not insult you by collecting it with a fish net.

thetrueone interesting you mention mormons. I just recently have been talking with two of their "missionaries" and the similarities with the witnesses thinking is scary. Although the doctrines are different the mind set is so similar. The one young man went through a bit of a doubting or rebellious phase, but after a serious prayer session experienced a warm feeling in his chest and now is totally back on track. When I reasoned that every Pentecostal has a similar experience and that even the supposed anointed of the witnesses do it just goes right over his head.
Brotherdan http://www.centralprint.net/talks/ is still active, but yes I think you are right. He tried to soften the truth by saying that he was considering not renewing his account due to cost. You used to require a password, so I am not sure if I can log on because my computer provides it automatically or if that has changed with his new arrangement. I think if you have overlapping web addresses it becomes okay right down to the conclusion of the internet or witnesses, whichever comes first.

There are some similarities - both were young (around 14) both ended up challenging what other religions, ancient and contemporary, were teaching. Joseph was considered a prophet and Russell, inspite of suggestions to the contrary, was too. Joseph had his golden plates and Russell his watchtower. Russell was influenced by other religions and religious men of the day which leads me to the query. I have never heard or read that he looked into the Mormon religion, but it seems strange considering the time factor and the time factor.

Comment on CA from JW
by purplesofa inhad my ca last weekend.
it was interesting, here what i got out of it, without giving spoilers, because i know they are not all the same.
but it seems to me, that due to the new understandings a lot of friends are letting their guard down.possibly thinking, "well, if they change in doctrine once, who knows they might change again".

So then they were "guided" by the holy spirit to say/print countless errors. Even Russell said that new light or expanding light = expanded knowledge, cannot and would not go back to previously taught truths. Today's witnesses/gb are apparently guided by holy spirit to do that on a regular basis.

Many jw "sisters" have many "lofty" privileges in the org. They must however keep them "invisible" like the parousia. Many sisters compose the talks for their husbands who might be as they say 'not the sharpest knife in the drawer' and it is often apparent. The same is true of many assignments that the men carry out. as long as it is the behind the scenes part of said assignments. We had an elder in my congregation who could make flubs in his talks and if you were in the audience and able to see the looks he sometimes got from his wife it was both humorous to watch and cringe worthy at the same time.
