  An interesting side point for me that the many instances in todays study where ifs buts and maybes are used does not elicit great faith in the concept of Jehovah's holy spirit guiding and directing these old guys. Very little confidence is shown for example in parts like this "Early in Jesus' life, Mary apparently disclosed to Jesus certain facts about his birth. Thus, on one occasion when Mary and Jesus' adoptive father, Joseph, found Jesus in God's temple, the young child asked: "Did you not know that I must be in the house of my Father?" (Luke 2: 49) Evidently from an early age, Jesus knew that he was God's Son." Why not Mary disclosed without the apparently and from an early age without the evidently. Not that I agree with everything that AGuest says or for that matter am not a bit uncomfortable with her comments appearing to suggest to much of a spirit directed info but isn't the kind of confidence that she displays what you would expect from the old men in Brooklyn in view of their claim of being spirit directed? They just don't come of as having the confidence in their words that one would expect

  and since it starts out so familiar we at our meeting today sang it from the bottom of our hearts - just as we used to.

  Dear Friends,
  
  The first song for this week's Watchtower Study is song #46. It's an old "familiar" one (song #33 in the "Sing Praises to Jehovah" songbook) - of course with new words. And since it starts out so familiar we at our meeting today sang it from the bottom of our hearts - just as we used to. That throughout the song sometimes a note is a bit longer or shorter than before was not so much of a problem. Only if you are a keen observer (or if you can read music) you'll notice this. But then came the last line on the second page. This line - SURPRISE! - has changed completely! This resulted in us still trying to continue singing it the old way while the piano player on our CD had already stopped playing. Yes, we sang the new words, but tried to match them to the old, much longer melody in our minds.
  
  Perhaps a good idea is to sing along beforehand at home using the Society's recording even though you might think it is an "old" song.

  The Annointed - how do they know?

  to me this is a serious matter as the annointed are the basis of how the organization is set up and operates.

  yet i have great difficulty in understanding how these people know that they are annointed.

  does the bible actually say that they will know?

  Now back in the early 1900's witnesses all thought they were going to heaven so when they learnt that they weren't and only a chosen few were how did they then come to know if they as individuals were or weren't?

  Not an easy answer here, but my understanding is that all felt that calling at first. Later on as many did not have that feeling or confidence what a relief and blessing when the new light (I think it may have been fluorescent) came along so that those who just didn't have that feeling could see a place for themselves in god's arrangement. Life on a paradise earth. As with most of the teachings and doctrines that Jehovah gave enlightenment on, he held out for many years. You know, waiting until their feeble little minds could cope with the things that were required to get them out of a jam. As their numbers grew after not going to heaven in ____ and after a number of schisms it became obvious that they would have to come up with some reason for the magic number of 144.000 losing plausibility. So guess what, Jehovah provided new light. From that time on it would only be replacements for anointed that fell short that would be part of that number. 'as a side note of course some doubt has now been ascribed to that year of 1935 being an actual cut of date for the gathering of those who make up that group'

  When addressing this issue of "I have been told it is through God's holy spirit " there is indeed a conundrum that raises its ugly head. Why is this feeling that only they have any different from the countless born again Christians who insist they too have such feelings. Just recently I talked with a young mormon missionary who insists that after heartfelt prayer he felt a warm feeling in his chest that just proves to him that god is with him.

  Yes, yes, I know. Satan is misleading all but them.

  I think that because they try to cover all the angles that they get themselves into these conundrums all the time. Just proof that they play this game on the fly and don't know there left hand from the right.

  Increasing his horses would show that the king depended upon military might to protect the nation instead of depending on Jehovah, the Protector. And multiplying wives would be dangerous because some of them could be from surrounding pagan nations that engaged in false worship, and those wives could turn the king aside from the true worship of Jehovah. Solomon did not heed those warnings. Rather, he did what Jehovah specifically said kings should not do. He accumulated thousands of horses and horsemen. (1 Ki. 4:26) He also came to have 700 wives and 300 concubines, many from the pagan nations nearby. These "inclined his heart to follow other gods; and his heart did not prove to be complete with Jehovah." As a result, Jehovah said that he would "without fail rip the kingdom away" from Solomon.-1 Ki. 11:1-6, 11. w09 3/15 1:12, 13
