If there was a satan and if he cared about (wanted to persecute) jw's do they not think the shit would have hit the fan when they peddled that hate literature brochure "the end of false religion is near!" bullcrap. Not long ago the book study was the salvation, because they could blend in with the landscape so to speak. They even used that scenario to emphasise the importance of regular meeting attendance, because you would supposedly find out where the next meeting would be held at the current meeting that you were faithfully attending "AT A HOME". Now it is teaching them to hold condensed meetings. oh well.

I am Booby. I am incapable of critical thinking. I am incapable of reading. I am poor, and ragged. I am all beat up. Poor me. Jesus did not, nor did I say the end of the world!!! He talked about the conclusion of a sytem of things. To those asking and "listening" it was very real that in their day, their time these conditions to watch for existed. So for them the urgency was to build up their faith and endure that end of a system of things. A conclusion of the world yes, but only in the sense of what they knew. So was the thrust of the discussion anything to do with "salvation" as such. No!! It was talking to them to help them to understand of what he spoke. I don't particularly like to be belittled, however I can take it like a big boy. I can remember one of the public talks I delivered years ago, and although I am sure if I read the talk through today, I would think much of it was bunkum, the one thing it covered well was the numerous times the bible mentions systems of things, referring to different times and occurrences. But anyway I am sure you are smarter and more Knowledgeable and Wise than I am, so I am sure this will be far to elementary for you to see.

I sometimes wish I could just be as smart as some other people, but hey! I yam what I yam. Nobody reads scripture and concludes that what makes sense is necessarily what is being said. The "end" that it talks of is clearly shown to be the end of the arrangement. Read verse three and it is very clear. So regardless of what you "think" and how superior you feel, the scripture plainly says he that survives to the end of the conclusion of the system of things. Not is faithful to the "end" of their life.

brother apostate makes it sound so simple, But as I pointed out the bible is so very complex. Are you then saying that the end that requires a preaching to the whole world is the end of the individuals life. You can see how convoluted it can all become. And yes the context is so very important. This just can't be talking about the end of the person.

I always find it interesting that the more one reads the more confusing the scriptures can be. Maybe the catholic church has it right after all. The bible just isn't for dummies like me. Actually the Witnesses say the same thing, without them you cannot understand the bible, but they condemn the catholics for saying it. Anywho . . . . whereas the witness thought has been - die before Armageddon = automatic pass to resurrection this scripture does give the thought (read in context) that if you don't make it to the "end" your toast. How many times did I read that, or at least follow its reading in the congregation and focus on the survival through the "end of the world" whereas all those incorrigably wicked worldlings round about were snuffed out.

To misguided and the issue of outlaws comments and responses to them. I never said or suggested that outlaw was lying or even misguided in his comments. I too, live in this area, born and raised in the sunny Okanagan, bin here 65 years. Yes I know, to much info about meee. But a dusting of snow late in the spring or early in the fall does not make the Qouk impassable in June and\or July. What I would like to see on this thread is an accurate report of what circuits from the coast if any were assigned to Kamloops. Some have commented on how beautiful it is in Kamloops in the summer and I concur, it is indeed. But lets remember, this is not a vacation to one of the worlds beauty sites. It is an assembly with little time left for enjoying the sights.

Would they ever attempt to introduce tithing?
by Mickey mouse init's pretty clear the wbts has cash flow problems.
i suspect there is a good portion of jw's who feel trapped in the borg due to family ties.
it's likely they have stopped contributing in a material way to the organization.

After his fortune was exhausted, er fathers fortune was squandered. (comment about Russell) and how I see it. Anywho, does anybody else see a contribution box at every convenient spot in hall and constant reminders from the podium reinforced by articles in tower as virtually the same thing as tithing?

NOVEMBER 1 WATCHTOWER - DOES IT SAY THAT NON DUBS MAY BE SAVED?
by BluesBrother ina certain witness, kind of close to me,is insistent that this article confirms her conviction that the wt teaches that jehovah will judge hearts at the "end" and both j w's and non j w's may be saved ....i say that it teaches the opposite.
what do you think?
how do you read it?.

Jehovah's Witnesses did not say Russel was faithful slave, did not say the generation meant something different many times, did not predict 1975 as the end, etc. etc., and yes non dubs may be saved, well maybe, but than probably not. Please stay tuned for further refinements, or not.

Bookstudy out . . . . gas prices to high even though many could walk if need be. Travel Vancouver and area to Kamloops . . . cost of gas no big deal. You have to wonder if they think that longer trips like that can be achieved on the new "holy spirit " fueled engines. Or maybe their Rand Cam engines.

Sorry Outlaw . . . . But I to am from this part of our great big world. Going up over the big ole Coquihalla highway in winter could find closures and lots of snow, fog (depending on what part) but when the conventions are underway NOT. However assigning any from Hope thru to Vancouver, to Kamloops with the myriad of venues down at the coast IS asinine. The Assembly halls are just not used for district assemblies, but there are many other options, all making more sense for the r\f but obviously not for the big boys calling the shots.
