  Published life story of Australian ex-Witness. An absorbing read.

  there are a number of books available on amazon giving the life stories of ex-witnesses.

  i've always been intrigued by one called "i'm perfect, you're doomed" by kyria abrahams, which sounds like a witty read.

  one day i'll buy it!.

  i was wondering if anyone is aware of any recordings of the convention as of yet?

  i know its relatively early, so i may just have to wait.

  What has the WTS EVER "predicted" that has actually come true?

  you'd think they could point to something right?

  obviously we're the one true religion".. i can't fathom how anyone of any intelligence would be willing to join up with this org after doing even rudimentary research.. for years they have taught that it's wrong to seek advanced education or to plan for a "worldly" future by trusting in this system of things and then this past sunday the watchtower article rips on people for not planning for the future in regard to their elderly relatives.

  maybe if they hadn't been teaching for 100 yr's that the end was "just around the corner" and telling us we'd better believe that fact...or else, we would have planned better for a future that you said without reservation would not even occur.. what mind blowing prediction can they point to that would convince someone "oh yeah..these guys have it right"...?.

  Good point, until you mentioned that I thought last weeks wt study was one of the better ones, no self promoting or use of the word evidently to tell us something thats not bible based. Also now looks like they could be thinking that the end is not just around the corner anymore.

  Great campagne in Portugal (ex-JW)

  i like to tell you what we've been doing these past few days here in portugal (ex-jw).

  we create a brochure and printing, so we can send to the maximum of congregations in portugal.

  some individuals were also covered in this campaign.. the title of the pamphlet is: "when will the kingdom arrive?".

  This leaflet looks great, very easy to read and understand. This is the very subject that first revealed the cracks in the Watchtowers protective shell to me 14 years ago. But reading this leaflet with the mindset of a JW, and knowing what other strong minded JWs will say if they were to read it, I would make some small changes to it.

  1: I think that each years quote needs to have the WT publication reference from where the quote was taken, otherwise too easy for a JW to dismiss these as simply made up lies.

  2: JWs are now pushing and promoting the website JW.org has the only website that witness's should use, the mention of any other websites outside this will sound off warnings that could lead them to apostate websites, And they most certainly don't want that. Most JWs I know (maybe all I know) would not go any further into reading this leaflet upon seeing all those other website links under "Want more Information".

  How many active JW's use this forum as a source of information?

  the numerous comments and experiences from this sites contributing posters add a real flavour to a persons overall knowledge of the society, both present day and historically.

  i can well see how even many, many dyed in the wool witnesses skim or even study this site.

  if i was still attending and seriously supporting the society, i would be fascinated to read these comments.

  Most Damning Publication?

  of all of the watchtower's many publications dating now to all the way back to russell, which one publication is the most damning in showing they are a complete crachpot of a religion?

  and i course, i mean which original publication before they changed a few words and reprinted!.

  personally, i think it is probably russell's the divine plan of the ages.

  For me it is the “Evolution Creation” book published by the IBSA in 1927. This book is what first opened up my eyes to the deceiving lies that the WT of today are telling us about their so called wonderful 1914 date.

  Today's wt study! Notice the faults?

  did we all notice the way in which this weeks wt study (how to maintain a positive viewpoint) was all about keeping the flock positive even if they feel they are not doing enough in 'service'?.

  the irony is that the very reason they feel stressed or worthless is because of the pressures the org puts on them to perform!!!.

  "About 1914", and only mention about Satan being cast out? And its under the page heading of Gods rule? Is this a form of future proofing this Bible version for another 20-30 years? Maybe they have already realising that the kingdom rule did not start in 1914 and this will be the next BIG change…

  i found on another thread a quote from awake 1967 aug 22,page 27-28. it's from an article where the wt proves that women should acquiesce to their husbands.

  within the article i found something that suggests more intellectual dishonesty from the wt writers.. that it is in the best interests of both.

  sexes for man to take the lead is also supported.

  CO Special Meeting with MS & Elders

  when the co visits a cognregation this semester, a special meeting with elders and mss is sceduled tuesday night, right after the normal meeting.

  does anyone know what this meeting is about?

  this special meeting is held at the beginning of the co-week, and is different from the standard meeting with personnel which is held friday evening.
