  angus stewart qc, senior counsel, has had a long and distinguished legal career, beginning with his passion for justice in south africa, fighting apartheid, then later working in the truth and reconciliation commission, and more recently acting as senior counsel in the case studies on jehovah's witnesses in the australian royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse.

  The clown factory at Warwick

  it just amazes me how the clown factory at the borgs basilica in warwick could produce 8 clown popes that act like self-licking ice cream cones and the jdubs take them so seriously.

  if the popes said that they were going to have a bible signing session at a king dumb hall 8 hours away that so many jdubs would make the trip the town would be swamped with traffic.. you know what is truly sad is when during jdub public prayers, the governing body gets more praise than the head of the congregation.

  all jesus gets is the final "in jesus name.".

  A recent public talk done at our KH by an MS used more quotes taken from JW broadcasting, quoting from the GB and their helpers to back up what he was saying, than the Bible! I found it to be out of place, strange and just plain wrong, but I'm guessing every JW listening would have lapped it up without question.

  I have never seen or heard of that program, "The Spin Off". Just looked it up and it screens late on Friday nights NZ time. Doesn't look like the type of program I would go out of my way to watch, and I think that would be the same for most people.

  Maybe there will be a part about it this coming Friday night?

  in 2 weeks we will be announcing major changes in northern ohio congregations and there is quite the buzz in the area about it.

  just talked to a jdub from the detroit area that just underwent similar changes, and they mentioned it has been "quite exciting" to get to meet new brothers and sisters.

  so besides the cash benefit of selling a couple kingdom halls in the process.

  I watched some of the Regional Assembly

  i watched about 2 hours of the regional assembly and these are my thoughts.

  the video's and songs did stir my good memories of when i was a jdub elder and very happy in the religion.

  i can see how these two things would make it difficult to leave the borg because of the emotional buy-in.. now getting into the talks, the cults true colors show and i wonder how in the hell was i a part of that for over 40 years.

  I was made to watch Junes broadcast, within 2 minutes of it starting, I was told that there is a difference between a pile of wood and a heap of wood. Talk about manipulating the English language to their advantage.

  The urban legends we heard as JWs!

  how often have we heard some sort of sensationalist urban legend as jws?.

  here is an example i was told as a kid:.

  the experience of a sister who knocked on a door and was greeted by a big fierce looking man- intimidating and mean.

  A father showing his son why gambling is a waste of money and wrong, to prove it he put one coin in a gambling machine and hit jackpot.

  When tragedy hits some country, JW's are first to get in there to give help, usually via some unknown way in that the government officials don't know about. Odd thing this is, that I have heard members of other religions quote the same story about their church being first to get in and render aid to these areas hit with tragedy.

  No one have proven JW's wrong, by the way, don't listen to anyone that could make you question your faith, they are apostates from Satan.
