  Thou shall not kill? Makes no sense?

  i always thought, when reading the bible, that the commandment "thou shall not kill" made no sense.

  after all, the god who supposely gave it commanded his own people to kill.

  so i wonder, did that god actually mean, "thou shall not murder?

So I wonder, did that god actually mean, "thou shall not murder?" As history of the Bible and even real history have shown that killing is sometimes something that has to happen (Hitler, etc.) to prevent worse events from happening. So what do you think, should it really mean "kill" or "murder" as it seems to be a topic used against religious people a lot. Namely Witnesses, when they used it to show the evil of worldly religions, when they also studies the wars and killing of the god Jehovah.

  Cross or a Stake - which was it?

  we were always lead to believe, when we belonged to the jws, that jesus died on a "stake".

  was this really true or did he die on a cross as all other religions appear to believe.

  if it was a cross, what on earth did the jws get out of saying otherwise.

  I really enjoyed it. Although, I think that Jesus was a product of several myths coming together and perhaps one of the supposed Jesus of the time did have children and that is the grail. Who knows??? There is a movie coming out soon, I hope it is as good as the book.

  why is it, that when ever there is a war, the liberal part of society seems to always side with the enemies of our nation?.

  just saw a saw some old footage of jane fonda in vietnam, and spent the afternoon listening to a talk show on the radio while i painted and this just seems like the way it is.

  Another marriage bites the dust because of JW beliefs

  i know very few people who have been successfully married where 1 spouse is a witness and the other is not.

  i know there are a few examples on this board.. a couple that i know irl have split after nearly 25 years of marriage because of the stupid shunning shit.

  one of their 3 children got df'd 6 months ago and that is when everything fell apart apparently.

  Met my spouse as a Witness, we both left the religion, and are still together. The religion is often an excuse for breaking up marriages. If you want to make it work, you will, religion or no religion.
