I sort of prefer the fluff topics myself. One can only take so much WT bashing at a time.

What exactly is a beer belly?
by sonnyboy inthis probably sounds like a stupid topic, but what's in a beer belly?
i've always been on the thin side, but i've been drinking too much beer lately and notice something happening above my belt.
it's not really noticeable and is easiliy sucked in, but i'm not happy.

It happened over the period of about a month. I swallowed a few "seedless watermelon" seeds. Do you think one could have been fertile?
The swelling is in the entire mid section, and I haven't really gained any weight. I may have gained a couple pounds but my weight has always fluctuated between 5 pounds or so.
I think I'll stop drinking for a few weeks and see what happens, then see a doctor if it doesn't get back to normal. I've been getting pains in me liver bone from time to time.

If I ever grow as big as those pictures I'll give up more than beer! Luckily you can't notice mine unless I totally relax and then it pops out.
The strange thing is there's no fat that I can feel; it's sort of hard, like it's being pushed out from behind the muscle. Is that where beer fat is located?

I just don't understand what causes it. There's no fat or flab around it...it's like a hard swelling. Will simply giving up beer make this go away?

City person or Country person
by JH in.
i travelled alot recently and i passed through many major cities, and i saw the contrast between nice small quiet towns and huge cities with so much traffic.. so, where would you rather live, in a quiet small town where there isn't much to do,but where it's quiet and there is not much stress, or in a big city with lots of traffic jams, where life is more expensive, but where there is more to see?.
i like the smaller town life.

I'm with Vassago.
I also grew up in the country, surrounded by corn fields. We had goats, two horses, a few chickens, and I don't know how many dogs and cats. I now live on the outskirts of a small town which feels sort of confining, but still comfortable.
I get extremely paranoid when I go to any city, and looking up at the buildings gives me the worst case of vertigo. I refuse to drive within city limits, so whenever I go to Baltimore I take the light rail. I also must look very much like a tourist, because homeless people will pick me out of the crowd and ask for change or a cigarette.
I'd say the worst part of being in the city is dealing with crosswalks. I almost got splattered 3 times in one day! Doesn't the little green man walking mean that it's safe to go across?

Gasoline / Petroleum breaks the £1 / Litre barrier
by LittleToe inyes, it's official!
my last fill-up cost well over 50, at a cost of 101.9p/litre.. even having been accustomed to paying 10% more than in mainland scotland, this is a new all-time high.
it was bad enough when it broke the 1 / gallon mark, but this is outrageous!.

Can anyone explain exactly why gasoline prices skyrocketed after we captured Saddam?
If anything I thought they'd go down. Is this happening to pay for the war?
I need to watch the news more often.

or shop for something and know that if one store doesn't have it, I only have to go a mile or so and another one will.
Well, the good thing about small town life is that what you're looking for is almost always in stock. I hear that many sought-after new releases (like books, video games, etc.) tend to sell out quickly in cities.

How long is too long?
by Insomniac injust a question, for those who might know.
how long should you hang onto a relationship, when it's becoming undeniably clear that it's going nowhere?.
i'm so in love, with the most wonderful person i've ever known.

If someone else feels that living together is ok, then for them it is ok. But it gives me a sick feeling in the pit of my stomache to think of doing it myself.
Why is that? Does Christianity have that strong of a hold on you? This is just another example of how the religion makes people miserable.
You seem to be very much bound by tradition. Why hold on to your traditions if they're controlling your life? You can't even ask him to marry you? Come on. Some women need to accept the fact that chivalry is dead and take control of their lives. They want equal rights but still look to the man to hold their hand and walk them through life.
Well, if you won't ask him to marry you, you won't move in with him, and you're not happy in your current situation, I think you know that it's time to start looking for someone else or stay on your own for a while. 36 is far from old.

Do you prefer fake or real.....
by Dimples inwomen do you have real or artificial nails?
men do you prefer real or artificial nails?.
just wondering... .

I don't mind falsies as long as the woman knows how to put them on.
I've seen ladies with glue on top of them, one crooked nail, and nails that were WAY too wide for their fingers, hanging over the edge of the natural nail, appearing to be suspended in mid-air.
That just looks silly.
What really gets me is women with nice hair who prefer to wear wigs. Nothing's worse than a bad wig.

Best of luck to you. I had a similar scare myself.
This is why white people aren't supposed to live in such sunny environments. We can't take the UV rays. ;)
