ok, i'm attempting to collect a list of jw wrongs in this thread so i can give it to my parents.
i haven't been here long enough to know some of the inside information that you guys have, so any contributions would be welcomed.
you could save yourself a lot of time by defining what sort of worldview you are leaning towards.
I'm sort of leaning towards the whole package. My parents still believe in God and they still believe the JWs are the 'only right religion', even though they no longer attend, but they don't know that I'm now agnostic. I think I'll first collect info on how JW doctrine conficts with scripture, and then I'll go for the nonchristian worldview.
I don't necessarily want to change their beliefs, but give them something to consider. They need to tell those pesky elders to stay away and quit pestering them to return to the hall. Every Saturday morning, there they are. I can't even go for a visit without seeing them. Now if I see their gold Lexus in the driveway I keep on riding.

so me, matt and alllll of our friends were at the blue monkey (a bar in memphis), and we were just sitting around, munching on pizza and throwing back beers.
all in all, it was great.
i basically just wanted to get the point through that i was perfectly happy and that i didn't need the dubs to have fun and have friends.
They couldn't say too much if they were sitting in a bar themselves.

when i read some of the posts i cant help wondering that things do not go always the same everywhere.

People can now wear beards at my former congretation, men and women.
today we had a nice road trip and visited two cemeteries where grandparents and aunts and uncles are buried.
we usually make the yearly trek on memorial weekend but this year we helped my son move and were out of town.
it's an upbeat day.
We did occasionally, but I never really saw the point. I guess some people do it as part of the mourning process, but it makes you feel even worse when you're standing over the rotting body of a loved one. I'd rather remember people as they were, not as a tombstone.
i have found myself saying this more frequently lately.

for myself, i am just broken hearted by the state of the world.
It's a shame the world rejected the message of the gospel otherwise things would have improved dramatically long ago.
Sadly, people have been twisting the gospel for centuries, using as justification for war after war.
The bad thing about the gospel is that there are too many interpretations. You would think that a god who wants to be followed would have made his directions more clear and to the point. He should not have allowed much of the meaning to be lost in translation.
i watched an interesting film last night.
"a handful of dust" with kristen scott-thomas and alec guinness.. it wasn't bad, so this morning i idly took a peek at the write ups on the net, it being a movie made in the 80's.
to my astonishment, some american viwers were complaining that the movie didn't have any sub-titles!!!
