My parents didn't bring me into the religion until I was around 5 or 6, and I don't resent them because they're genuinely stupid.
If they were intelligent people I may have a little resentment.
for those born into the wts, do you ever feel resentment towards your folks for forcing this upon you?
i went through a stage of strong resentment and anger, but no longer feel this way.
i think they sincerely believed they were acting in my best interests.

does anyone have any secrets that work?
i looked on the internet and saw a few tips, but nothing's working yet.. these little bitey suckers are all over the place.
i've gotten rid of every bit of trash and wiped down the entire kitchen, but they're still swarming.
Well, I think I've finally found a solution.
I put a cup of cider vinegar with a few drops of dish soap in my sun room. A few hours later, the glass was filled with fruit flies, and there were hardly any left in the main house.
I'm so relieved! I feel as if I've been cured of a plague. I'll have to remember to do this every summer since I always get these little buggers during warm weather.

Maybe they're not biting, but they're running into me a lot which is irritating and makes me feel itchy.
I don't notice as many since I scrubbed up the kitchen, but I'll try some of your ideas to get rid of the rest. I think they were attracted to my brother's collection of beer cans.

i am of the "born into it but got out of it before baptism class"......listening to so many of the horror stories on this site, i often feel like we are the 'lucky ones'..... we realized at a very young age how wrong and absurd this belief system was and ran away before making the psychological investment of baptism while simultaneously avoided the disastrous consequences of getting df'd......are we the minority here???
just curious!
I had no desire to get baptized.
The main reason for me was that there are too many requirements for baptism, and I thought something was seriously wrong with that. Who are they to decide when I'm ready to be baptized?
A scary cult, this is.
...................if you believe the bible or not???????
in defd thread i couldnt think of one i liked except jesus, but loads that i disliked...eg king david, cos he got away with murder, literally, besides other things and he was consistantly quoted as an example, until in the end i felt like pulling my own head off.
then there is paul, who in my opinion, cocked up everything jesus said and stood for.
My most favorite is Jesus. If all those stories are real, I don't believe that he and God are one in the same. Jesus was a good guy who didn't judge.
My least favorite would be God because he's depicted as an evil, cold-hearted hypocrite who kills to strike fear into the hearts of his followers.
how do you use the board?
do you bother reading people's posts when you start a topic, and acknowledge their response?.
do you read all the posts on a thread when you post to see if someone has added more details, or already posted what you would have said?
Do you bother reading people's posts when you start a topic, and acknowledge their response? - Unless I forget about the thread, I do. I don't acknowledge every single reply, but I read them.
Do you read all the posts on a thread when you post to see if someone has added more details, or already posted what you would have said? Or just respond to the original post and ignore the rest? - That depends on how long the thread is. If it's a 9 page thread, I read as many as time allows and skim over the rest before making a post. Then when I have time I go back and read the rest and usually discover that someone has already said the same thing. Meh.
Are you an old thread reviver, bringing 3 year old threads back to the top? - I've done it before, but don't make a habit of it.
Do you feel it is very important to type a response to a troll that made one post three days ago and hasn't said anything since? - I don't feel it's very important to respond to trolls at all.
Do you find that you get very little feedback to your posts, or that you are generally a thread killer? - Yes, and yes. I know that few people respond to my posts, but I still feel it's good to get things out in one form or another. I've found that caricatures usually get the most responses on message boards...people who try to make themselves seem surreal or beyond reproach. I'm still not sure what happens when threads are killed. Does the poster say something that's inarguable?
i want to officially retract the opening statment of my "does anyone else not care about katrina?
" thread.. i've been watching coverage like a hawk all day, and it cannot be compared to the homeless problem in our country.
i still stand by what i said, which is that we should always support and feel compassion for those who are less fortunate, even when cnn is not involved, but this is definitely different.
Thanks to the info, guys.
I'm going to check around today and see where I can drop them off. I believe it would cost more for me to ship the clothes than they're actually worth (clothing is heavy!). I probably have close to 100 lbs. to donate...I knew I was a pack rat, but sheesh. The Red Cross would probably know where I can take them....
Sonny
i've never posted here before, but i've lurked patiently for a few weeks, debating on whether or not to tackle a new message board.
i guess i'll make at least one post and see what happens.
anyway, a little background about myself.
Michelle,
If you have something to say, why not be more direct? I sometimes have a hard time following Biblical mumbo jumbo, but I'm dumb like that.
I'm not sure if you're trying to send me a message or freak me out.
