  newbie with a cliche post

  i like many young non-jws i have meet a jw and fell in love,but i think what me different from the rest is i feel special.

  i feel like i have been waiting like this all life from the time i was a kid to know, not a very good description, but i do feel that i a situation where i could win her, i feel that the starts are aligned for this.

  i know that there are 5 weekly meetings, but can anybody describe them, and also the district assembly or something like takes place a couple times a year ?

  Ugh.... ok, grammar and spelling aside.... ***Sigh*** (American Public School education)... What is it with all these young people falling in love with young JWs ? These folks come out of the woodwork every other day it seems.... You would think that there are millions of JWs boys and girls around, and a "wordly" guy or gal can't help but meet and fall in love with one of them

  Any Swiss here?

  i'm doing a whirlwind visit to zurich in mid march and since i wont have much time i'm looking for suggestions and insider tips on how a foreigner can get the most out of a 4-5 day visit.

  the trip is work related but most of my time will be free.

  i'm so tempted to take a few extra days and hop over to italy since i'll be so close but i dont think it will be financially feasable.

  Zuerich, wonderful city.... I am not Swiss, but I was born on the french - swiss border. Only an hour from Geneva. Have fun there. I knew some people there, but it's so long ago, some bank director

  after many years my step father has decided to become reinstated.

  he has recently moved from out of state and lives very close.

  growing up he and i did not have a good relationship, that had changed and we have been very close for many years.

  it's cold in toronto tonight/this a.m. - i believe it went as low as -26c (minus 26 celsius) .

  facts about the JW religion

  i'm putting together a brochure for release in my area - to local churches and bookstores.

  on the first panel i want to explain to the reader why the jw religion is not a "harmless" little church.

  so i decided to list in bullet format a few facts that the average person may not be aware of.. for example, bullet 1 will be information on the number of children who have died because of refusing blood (any ideas where i can find exact numbers??).

  When the JWs visit you, and try to have you come to one of their meetings, they will emphasize that contrary to other religions, they don't pass a basket during service for money donations.... They don't tell you that you have to pay for the magazines and books you are obligated to have as a JW, and those magazines that you are supposed to "place" on you door-to-door service. They won't tell you how often during the meetings they are asked to give more to the worldwide work or the Kingdhom Hall Fund or whatever... They won't show you the annual request by the Watch Tower Society in the magazine to give, and how this can be done (jewelry, bonds, stocks, properties, etc).

  What is there in this guy to be admired? Born rich, never had to struggle with the daily problems most of us have to face, great schools (wonder if he even did good academically). Governor of Texas (because he was a Bush), didn't even win the election but became president nonetheless.... He has the best healthcare anyone can get, and 40 millions of the people in this country can't afford health insurance and avoid going to the doctor as much as possible. He always has this stupid, arrogant smirk on his face, like it's all a game, he's the worst speaker around (in the politic world).

  Schizm : Why ? the JW leadership over the decades have tried real hard to look different from other Christian denominations. Why would anyone join the JW sect if it was spewing the same stuff as everybody else? When Rutherford decided that Christmas celebration was not for "true" Christians, he had to find reasons why it was the case. So, suddenly, it was a feast of pagan origin (which is true, in a sense, but nowadays we do not celebrate the return of the sun, but the birth of Christ). The story of the star being sent by Satan is just another of the JW leadership invention to support their no Christmas celebration rule.
