No. I just never believed they were as old as the scientists claimed they were.
Come to that I still take carbon dating with a pinch of salt, but thats probably because I cant understand it!

Question for you British Folk
by XJW4EVR inlast night, my wife went to a community meeting, in which a new supermarket is moving in.
this market is called testco (sp?).
according to what she told me, this store is british based, so i was curious what it was all about, and whether or not it was good, bad or indifferent.. please give me your feedback.. thanks..

I sort of dont like Tescos because of their sheer size and the 1 in every 8 pounds thing.
But I sort of love Tesco because they are far and away the nicest cleanest smartest supermarkets around my way. IMO they strike a good balance between quality and value for money. They are not the cheapest (like Adsa, Lidl, Aldi) they are not the most expensive (Waitrose, Sainsburys) they are not aiming for the cheap and cheerful market (Morrisons, Co-op). They are well laid out, well stocked and have a sort of 'middle class' feel to them without being too pricey. (round our area at any rate).
So im afraid they get my 1in every 8 pounds most of the time. THere is a little Tesco Metro right by my daughters school, and a lovely big Tesco a bit further away. Im trapped!

Angels & Sexual urges..
by tan ini was reading another thread and wondered why it was that the perfect angels began to have sexual urges???
i also wondered if the resurrected ones were not to procreate why a loving god would put them on the earth to tease them.
jthey're going to be perfect too, will they eventually have these urges too, just to be destroyed when it's all said and done.

Id love to 'have' an angel. Id be hoping it would be a really fantastic screw. It seems a bit less than holy tho that they were up in heaven, perfect, and leering down at women. Seems nobodys satisfied with their lot!

we got our day in court, and today we are on the front page of the daily mail and the gloucester citizen, and we are in several other nationals and locals, my partner's been interviewed by sky news and the bbc.. we finally got them to listen to us after ignoring our letters and phone calls for months.
and it feels fantastic!.

There has been lots of support from ethnic minorities who have all said discrimination should never happen. I have been touched actually by how big people have been who have undoubtedly suffered discrimination all their lives and resisted the opportunity to say 'about time white people know what it feels like'.
In any case a lot of our anger was directed at how the police treated us afterwards, aside from the initial discimination. They absolutely refused to talk to us on the phone or answer any of our letters until we got a solicitor involved. They dragged their feet every step of the way. But within a week of the solicitors letter they had written to all the 'de-selected' males and offered them a place at the assesement centre, and then argued that we had lost nothing so we had no grounds to sue them.
I said that would be like a burglar robbing you then a week before the courtg date putting all the stolen stuff back and saying to the court ''whats his problem, all the stuffs been put back".

Yes. It was kind of ironic that we wrote to our local MP who is an Asian. He must have felt like saying to us "KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE WHITEY". But he was nice and didnt.

A bit less than $5000.
We could have got a lot more if we had settled out of court, but then we wouldnt have been able to talk to the press. So we refused to settle out of court.
They were really chuffed that they had got away with having to pay so little. They obviously didnt realise how big it would be in the news today.

Every time I write a long post something goes wrong with posting it. I might have to do it in bits, im not sure what the problem is.
Partner got told he had passed first test when applying for police, then got a letter saying he had been "randomly deselected".
Then it got leaked to the press that they had only deselected white males. (108 of them). We sued.

The press got a few details wrong but overall they did us proud.
