  I'm new...and heartbroken

  i'm still up early hours in the morning, because i'.

  so upset with what my mum said to me on the phone today.

  she told me she got the sack a week ago because her boss didn't agree with my mum being a jehovah's witness and that she lets 'children die' because of the no blood rules.

  Jehovahs Witnesses are not treated like scum. And your mum has a case for unfair dismissal based on religious discrimination. I am sure DiamondBlues PM will point you in the right direction.

  When I was a Witness I found for 30 years that people generally, though puzzled and sometimes repulsed by my beliefs, never treat me like scum. At worst they just couldnt understand, for instance, the blood issue. And now that I am not a Witness I can see how puzzled they must have been and in general how very restrained they were in their treatment of me.

  Good luck to your mum. She may well be better off not working with people who feel free to flout the discrimination laws of our country.

  Thank you Jeff, that was a very kind e-mail.

  I really dont see the connection between being at Hillsborough and inventing a cancer victim wife over a 2 year period.

  I guess he needs professional help. Hillsborough was ages ago. He should have recognised his therapeutic need and dealt with it more appropriately rather than spending 2 years inventing a fictional marriage and deceiving a group of people who would have given him any amount of unconditional support. IMO.

  i have been in all my life, im a fader, father, elder, i was ms for 5 years, raising my 3 boys alone for 4 years , single, brought many people in jw, all of my family in, i know its fake, but i went to my sons game and when the anthem came on, i wouldnt put my hand on my heart, and then looked around to see if anyone saw me, when will these guilty feelings go away?.

  Plus - In My Opinion - I think theres as much pressure and guilt to do the national anthem thing from non JW's as there is not to do it from JW's.

  Its your choice, no-one has the right to guilt you either way (sorry if thats not very patriotic of me). If I learned one thing from being a JW its that regular people are under as much pressure to conform as JW's are, but they just dont realise it.

  I dont know when, but I can promise you it gets better eventually.

  After a while, it might be a few years, you start feeling like a regular person, and you suddenly realise you have the freedom to choose what you think about things. Sometimes you even decide that you agree with something you did as a JW - like I probably still wouldnt want blood if I could at all avoid it, but this time its my choice not a religious one (and also I wouldnt be overwhelmed with guilt if i was told I had to have it or die, id just have it and think 'you cant win em all').

  You are obviously a devoted dad, and nothing can take away that. Dont let the guilt spoil that fact.

  i've been searching all over for pictures of governing body members engaged in "unscriptural conduct" and i still haven't found any.

  i thought that in this day and age with cell phone cameras and spy equipment, at least one person would have something grimey.

  i want to see what really goes on after hours in the borg.

  Dont hold your breath for real pictures, it may well be that all they do is read the bible and watch daytime soaps.

  Why not use real demons in movies?

  why does hollywood use special effects for demonized movies if demons are supposed to be real?

  that has bothered me for years.

  Because they hate being typecast as the bad guy ALL THE TIME. Its not all twisting peoples heads off and making ugly dolls with knives come to life you know. They have a whole range of emotions that just dont get an airing on a standard demon film - compassion, regret, confusion, unrequited love.

  Give them a good part, darling, and they will act their little socks off for you.

  The good old days and the "smart people" thread.

  i also think that some long-time posters that have met over the years feel like family and see some of the more "junior" members as interlopers in their "home".. comments are often made about the "good old days" when jwd was full of smart people.. it is often lamented that it is currently inhabited by a bunch of idiots that pale in comparison to the glorious ones of yesteryear.. " these brothers today just aren't as zealous.

  remember when we'd be out in service till dark?

  alot of these newer ones quit at noon.

  This is the best forum I have been on. The people are really nice and genuinely supportive.

  I havent been on loads of other forums, but, for instance, I sometimes go onto a teachers forum because the issues are relevant to me. But the teachers, who I would imagine to be supportive and helpful are more often bitchy and childish and I havent made friends with anyone else over the internet like I have on this forum.

  And I can honestly say that as well as being nice people here, MOST of them actually exist too!!

  In fairness we gift wrapped the first three penalties for you , and that disallowed try......will go down in history like Pele's hand of god

  But theres no denying you were the better team, and its unbelievable that we got as far as we did in the first place.

  We still have the best looking rugby player in the world though - good old Poster Boy Johnny still has a pointy nose and small ears!!!
