  The Story of Uncle Malcolm

  this is a great story and its totally true.. peter kay says that when you are a kid you have loads of aunties and uncles, your uncle bob because he once borrowed your dads orbital sander and your aunty mary because your mum goes to weight watchers with her.

  i thought it was a witnoid thing, or maybe a north of england thing, or even a 70's thing.. uncle malcolm was (is) an elder in my childhood congregation, a little wiry bloke in a flat cap and painters overalls.

  lived in a council house opposite my nana's with the ample aunty jean, two large shiftless sons and lots of budgies.

  Thank you so much for your kind words. I only write to make myself laugh really - I love a good belly laugh, and what better way than taking the pi$$ out of the people who robbed us of our joy! But in fact I dont even need to take the pi$$, these guys are real.

  Hope no-one thinks im on an ego trip, I just want to share the fun and its such a total relief for me to laugh it all off now, rather than going home every night after a meeting wanting to take a bottle of tablets. I think ive got a couple more stories in me, thanks to my congregation who bore a scary reseblance to a bunch medieval bunch of village idiots.

  I will pace them out a bit so I dont bore anyone. Thankyou all for letting me get this out, its my way of ranting!

  A question for my UK cousins: What are the different British accents?

  since i have so many brits and uk types in one place, i was wondering if you all could classify or tell me the names of the different british accents.

  i think most in the states could be grouped by region and then each region divided into regular folks and folks with cash.

  for instance in thestates, you basically have north east which is can be characterized by your classic new york or boston accents.

  apparently the good old BBC have a site where you can listen to all the regional accents, but I cant find it. My dad keeps telling me about it - he misses listening to english as he lives in Miami (I think they only speak Spanish there??!!)

  being a baby dub in the 70's

  im from a small backward industrial town in the north of england.

  in the 70's when i was a kid no-one had a car.

  we used to meet for field service on the street corner and have a pep rally right there, then stand in a circle and say a prayer.

  you are right really. I always thought Benny Hill was right out of order, as well as not even being funny. And all those pussy jokes in Are You being Served! But I supppose we make allowances for our own smut, so that we can feel righteous about someone elses.

  I loved American TV so much i was unable to realise as a child that the accent was american. I thought that was just how everyone spoke, except me!

  Consolidated Guerilla Apostasy Tactics for 2005 District Conventions

  we've had several very interesting threads going on about how those of us who are still on the inside can work to open the eyes of the witnesses at the district conventions this summer.

  since people have been making scattered suggestions on scattered threads, i thought we should start a consolidated thread here that lays all the options out on the table for those that want to be a part of it.

  Thats a GREAT idea about a staged argument with an apostate. People certainly would listen, I know I always tried to get a sneaky peak at what was going on with the placard boys.

  What about going for the Speamint Rhino approach, and having two or three drop dead gorgeous models in cat suits and infeasibly high stillettos carrying handing out postcards with the website address on? The witnoid mums would be peed off but the bethel boys would be salivating openly.

  Now all we have to do is find ourselves some models...

  Well done girl.

  At least you thought about it first. I got so excited about being able to make the computer put a picture on (im pretty low tech) I forgot to worry about being recognised until after it was up there - DUH! Now its too late, but I had no friends in the troof anyway, so what the hell...

  Clearly if the sausage has been strangled and hung up for its blood to drain properly from it neck, then there is no reason why we cannot eat it. I think the real ethical problem here is knowing exactly WHERE the sausage neck is. What if a young untrained butcher strung the sausage up by the wrong end and failed to realise that rather than draining the blood, it had all collected and congealed at one end? For this reason I always cut off both ends of the sausage before I eat it.

  I dont think we can have sausage transfusions though, or take them intraveinously.
