I'm curious as to what some of you are doing to prepare for retirement. Some people have 401k's, others buy Real Estate, Some have many children in hopes that they will take care of them when they get old. So i'm wondering what some of you are doing now to prepare.

If Witnesses had new light not to shun anymore....
by JH inif the witnesses received orders not to shun df'd ones anymore, would you want to talk to them, or would you shun them in return, just like they shunned you, just to show them how it felt like.

It's been over 6 years since I've seen my sister who shunned me. If they change the rules on shunning and she sought me out to make amends, I would tell her to that I wouldn't want anything to do with her until the same length of time went by for me. Then in a little more than 6 years....all would be forgiven.

I'll always shop at Walmart. Hats off to Sam and his company for supplying and sending dozens of trailer loads of relief supplies to the victims of hurricaine Katrina before Fema got their head out of their ass.

Would You Like Some Bible Based Literature?
by Apostanator inthat's what she asked me as i was putting my laundry in my car at the laudromat.
she was parked right next to me and she rolled down her window and had the awake and watchtower in her hands.
i said i use to be one of jehovahs witnesses but because of the pedophile problems as well as the societies involvement in the un, i left.

It's funny,,,,,I am a little more bolder now than I was before. Not caulkie but more comfortable in my skin. I know what I believe and why I believe it so it's easier for me to engage a witness in conversation. Maybe they'ill remember some of what I say and hopefully made a difference for them in the future.

I turned around and said No, I don't think so. I'm turned off by how the Pedophiles are protected in the congregation as well as the JW's involvement with the UN. I also said, "I researched the Organization and I encourage you to research it also, you will be shocked at what you find". Maybe I planted a seed.

What did you take with you when you left the organization?
by coffee_black inleaving the organization, it is like packing for a journey you can choose what you take with you, and what you leave behind (other than people).
there are things i chose to take with me.
for example, i have used the sales training to my advantage over the years.

You know,,I lost my mind while attending meetings. So on the last day I attended, I went to the Lost & Found section of the Kingdom Hall looking for it to take with me. It wasn't there!! I found it later after I left !!!!

My Dad's story
by coffee_black infreedomlovers post about her dads letter got me thinking about my dad, in fact, it sounds like it could have been written by my dad.
every once in a while it really hits me that he is no longer here to talk to.
unlike most of you, i wouldnt have been afraid to approach him with questions or doubts.

Hey Coffee,
I remember your dad. He always carried himself in a way that commanded respect. As a young kid in the congregation, I could see that the other elders had a healthy fear for him. He was a very smart man and you had better known what you were talking about before you spoke to him about any biblical counsel or mis-counsel. I really didn't get to know him that well. I was just a kid doing my thing but there was one Tuesday night when me and my family walked to the hall for the book study, when we got there, there was nobody around except your dad. He told us that he was having the book study at his home and then gave us a ride there. Our book study was conducted outside in the backyard and later we had goodies. Your mom was very hospitable. I remember one time in the kingdom hall parking lot she pulled us kids aside and brought us to the back of her car and then opened up the trunk........Man....we couldn't count all the chocolate chip cookies she had in there. She was awesome. I have good memories of your parents. They were good people. You have a lot of the same qualities they had.

Would you help JW family members?
by greendawn inif your jw family members were hurt by someone physically, or financially (ripped off), emotionally or otherwise would you feel sympathy for them and help them?

No........I wouldn't !!!! Let them get help from those who they spend 5 meetings a week with !! For the past 6 1/2 years of shunning....let me see, that equals 1690 meetings. They're probably real close to the friends now, seeing how much time is spent with them on just meetings alone.
