About the New WT Logo......
by cameo-d insquare wave in five steps.
gibbs phenomenon.. could "square wave" be a symbol of affinity with another cult?.
every calculated move of the nwo is based on pythagorean theorems.. .

I gues you're right, on surface at lieast Its not that hard to assess WTBS behaviour in terms of Fourier series ("logo") i.e. of flip-flopping, but that would be only one aspect of them. With dubs you always have to account for variable change, including forgetting all the truth that was fundamental in the last cycle. I guess that would require development of completely new calculus lol

What does nicotine feel like?
by Elsewhere ini have never smoked or used any tobacco products aside from puffing on a cigar a few times (maybe 5 times in my life).
even with the few cigar experiences (which i did not enjoy much) i never noticed any real "feeling" from the tobacco.
what is it supposed to feel like?

Share Your Favorite Aphorisms
by Farkel ini'm a great fan of aphorisms.
zen has some of the classic ones.
the moral consequences of doing whatever you do is that you will be the sort of person who did that.. "it's best to ride the horse in the direction it's going.".

Some of mine favorites ever come from The Art of War by Sun Tsu. Though written for warfare no wonder it us used today by top executives, high ranking officers and and of course practitioners or Ninpo :)
Be extremely subtle, even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious, even to the point of soundlessness. Thereby you can be the director of the opponent's fate.
All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.
Pretend to be weak/confused in order to make the enemy arrogant or haughty.
(actually these last two are unbelievably powerful, particularly when dealing with westerners, they basically tell you exactly what hidden thoughts of their minds really are about you. Or if in any kind of business "warfare" your oppenents quickly show their real face. Its almost like 1+1=2)
Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win. -

Funny I should come to the forum and this thread right when I've been thinking the same. Just reading "In Harm's Way" the book by Brian Corrigan the man who led an SAS team into Lebanon to recover two abducted children of Melissa Hawach, successfully did it but in process Brian and another member of his team were detained at the airport and thrown into a Lebanese prison for the next three months facing likely sentence of at least 15 years...
Absolutely a brilliant man. I think unlike JWs and like-minded small minds, those "worldly" worldly people think on altogether different plane, they do good deeds for the pleasure of seeing their fellow man happy again and not for "keeping up appearances" or "being seen" and "admired for it" as the core motives. Nor do they waste their breath on self-promotion, after all if people can't really see their good deeds for what they are, they were a wrong kind of people to start with.Anyway, don't what to steal the thread but if anyone wants to read how far human selflessness can go (especially those who, as it were, 'have been forged through combat, behind enemy lines') read the book its bound to resonate deeply. Here is just a short paragraph to give you taste of it..
He is a man of very few words and is difficult to read, but his stoic facade belies a fairy complex character with life experiences that would make most of what you and I have done seem mundane. Brian is what I would characterize as a 'high idler'. While most of us go about our day at the equivalent of 1000rpm, Brian's baseline is closer to 4500rpm. He is an intelligent bloke, fiercely loyal, and with what I would describe as a degree of calculated madness. What you and I see as just too risky or too dangerous, men like Brian see from different perspective. They have the capacity to divorce emotions from events and engage with risk in a highly calculated and considered way. (Foreword x, In Harm's Way)
Anyhow, that's enough get yourself the book ;)

Being woman in 40's? I don't know that many who are still witnesses. Those around me that I see everyday (non-jw) are often accomplished women, with career and all. Some married some not i.e. single. Usually 40's are time of reflection when you expect to see that you life is making some major impact and things are settled and cruising along. Some find marriage and a partner they can trust he'll will be there tomorrow as the most important accomplishment, esspecially when middle-age crisis hits their men. Some see that in their life's work if they are academics or accomplished artists of some kind. Some want to have it both. As a witness I guess things would still be on status quo, and you'd wait like a donkey after a carrot that there is a chance, however remote, that life might turn out right for you as a gift from heavens for your perseverance and the carrot will somehow land into your mouth. The difference with 'wordly' girls is that they don't like leaving too much to a chance and hopeful thinking they grab that carrot and don't let it go.
But I think it is a wider problem, witnesses in general are taught that nothing is lost and even if you lose something 'for kingdom's sake' or whatever else's sake, eventually you'll get it back in time to enjoy it fully. While things might turn out sometimes like that, generally people need to be proactive about their condition. And again that is where wordly women (and men) are better equipped. -

How "worldly" people REALLY view Jehovah's Witnesses
by HappyGuy inwhen you are a jw it is pounded into your head that the "world" hates you, wants to kill you, runs around saying all kinds of horrible things about you, and would take away all your rights, freedom of religion, etc, if it could.. when i first left the wtbts organization i told "worldly" friends and family about being a jehovah's witness.
not one of them said anything disrespectful, rude, insulting, or even unkind in any way.
i could just as well have said "i'm a baptist", or "i like comic books".. a few people who know that the wtbts is a cult were concerned over my emotional health, but that was out of a sense of friendship.. i have never met anyone who on hearing the phrase "jehovah's witness" got upset or said "those xxxxx".

To put it simply, as a bunch of retards. In fact if you have "wordly" friends they probably think you being a wintess at some stage is just another of your jokes, and can't for the life of them figure out how come you ever got invloved or why you even talk about that for more than a sentence or two while having a beer.
