Psychic Photography the Visual Proof for the Continuence of Life?
by Blueblades infor the past 100 years, psychic research has painstakingly assembled proof for the continuence of life and has gradually emerge from a metaphysical mantle into the full glare of scientific inquiry.
i read this statement somewhere.
photographs of the dead would make the argument for survival much stronger.

hey i'm new! I've been out for a while now, got kicked out of home at 17 primarily because i didn't want to be a JW .
I always knew it was BS though, even as a kid.
Well hello to one and all, now how do I go about causing problems for my local congregation?! -

Why is chalk white?
by Qcmbr ini was reading some pro flood info and i came across an intriguing point regarding chalk - the fact that it is composed almost entirely of shells.
now i have no desire to start a pro flood blah blah debate.
this is a sincere non religious question for our marine biologists / geologists - why is chalk white and not layered with silt and sand?
-
Caedes
chalk is white because it doesn't absorb any of the colour in normal light, it reflects all the colours so you see it as white. The only reason that there is little impurity in chalk is that litle sand or silt was deposited along with the original material. i would imagine there could be lots of reasons why that might happen.

Bad examples of intelligent design?
by gringojj in.
i am trying to think about examples of animals that would be bad for the intelligent design theory.
i like to use the ostrich because it has wings but doesnt fly.

How about the wasps that lay their eggs inside a paralysed spider, nice choice of reproductive method, god. There is also quite a few examples of creatures with very simple behavioural "programs" that can be easily broken or left in a loop. there are spiders that check their lair before depositing food inside, move the food whilst they are inside checking and they get caught in a loop of moving the food back to where they left it and checking inside again. I suppose any naturally extinct creature is an example of bad design from a perfect omnipotent being.

Question for agnostics and/or atheists
by sonnyboy ini've just recently declared my agnosticism to myself and to one other person in my life.
i don't necessarily consider myself an atheist because i believe there very well may be some higher power or non carbon based entities in existence with 'godlike' abilities.
my question is, do you still find yourself secretly believing in god?

"Rather than a "creator" god being separate from the universe which is "created", or rather than a god which exists somewhere within the universe, could it be Caedes, that the "natural means" is God? Could it be the the phenomenal universe exists within God, and is in no way separate from God? Would this not be the case with a Infinite God, the Alpha and Omega? Perhaps this very moment of conscious-awareness of Life which is expressing right here, right now, is God. Why do we so easily diminish and shrink God down to some object too limited and tiny to be here now? Some Lilliputian master building watching from afar?" From the point of view of my choices that argument falls squarely into option two (which I have attempted to word as openly as possible: feel free to come up with a more open statement for option two) because wether you believe god just got the ball rolling all the way up to we are just a figment of god's imagination or the traditional six day building frenzy, whichever of those options you choose it is a theological diferentiation of a larger choice that the universe has been created and is ultimately artificial. How people choose to see their god and his role (however large that role is) in the universe I would leave up to an individual's personal beliefs.

Can't Americans Understand Plain English?
by Englishman ini watched an interesting film last night.
"a handful of dust" with kristen scott-thomas and alec guinness.. it wasn't bad, so this morning i idly took a peek at the write ups on the net, it being a movie made in the 80's.
to my astonishment, some american viwers were complaining that the movie didn't have any sub-titles!!!

Funniest thing I ever got asked whilst working at Warwick castle, I was standing at the gatehouse when this American came up to me and asked me where the castle was! I then had to explain why it din't look like the "castle" he had seen at disneyworld I was always amazed at the number of Americans who would actually believe you when (in full medievil character and costume) you told them that you din't know where America was, they would even try to explain where it is bless 'em. Of course they weren't all like that (just a worryingly high percentage) Now as for subtitles how about that bush fellow, he could do with one! ;-)

I think that it boils down to one simple choice 1. The universe in its entirety has come about entirely by natural means; or 2. Some form of higher being/intelligence created it or had a hand in it's development. Personally I think I know which is the more sensible option, and it isn't the cowboy builders in option two.

I would have to go with number twenty, the reason is that everyone has to shoot off home quick to catch the football/ big brother/ coronation street/ the wrestling, or in my case 'the young ones' which i could only watch because i would leave the back door open at my parents house and leave the kh as soon as they opened the doors. My one flirtation with rebellion in my youth! well apart from secretly thinking my family were all insane to believe all that rubbish.
