Not wanting to give away too much much about my age but,
the Buzzcocks and My bloody valentine were the ones I got into trouble for. Julian Cope and Billy Bragg bring back a lot of memories of being at home as well.
I see I wasn't the only one to listen to alternative music as a way of avoiding snooping parents from editing my music collection.

Instead of doing the obvious, Mayor Nagin (with no positive contribution from Democratic Gov. Kathleen Blanco, the other major leader vested with responsibility to address the hurricane disaster) loaded remaining residents into the Superdome and the city's convention center. We know how that plan turned out.
I agree with happyout's comments especially regarding economics having a lot to do with the problems in black areas. I've lived in black areas and asian areas and the problems I have seen are all economic problems.
I would also like to add regarding the quote above, It's very easy with hindsight to criticise someones actions but doing something is always better than doing nothing which is exactly what bush did. It might be interesting to find out what the author of the article did to help during the disaster.

Caedes,gawd Im so old I actually have the "Strange Times" VINYL album!!! LOL. The lead singer of the Chameleons (or one of the bandmembers) actually did all the artwork. A great album! I remember buying it on import when I was 16 !! LOL
Yeah, Reg did the artwork on all their covers and on some of his own bands releases (the Reegs) I have got most of their stuff on vinyl and cd as well as most of the spin off Albums as well which must make an old git as well. Probably the Reegs stuff is the most interesting but the Sun and the moon stuff was pretty good. Did you catch any of the Chameleons reunion shows? I know they played quite a few dates in America but I don't know if they visited Canada.
Sometimes when you cast it lands in the deep. Other times it snags in a tree.

2) The Chills - bit of a toss up between them and straitjacket fits for my favourite NZ band but the Chills probably have it.
recommended track - Effloresce and Deliquese
3) Godspeed you! Black emperor - Fantastic canadian band very similar to Mogwai.
recommended track - Moya from the slow riot for new zero kanada ep, over seventeen minutes long!
4) Cocteau twins - Liz Fraser has the voice of an angel - a truly unique talent.
recommended track - throughout the dark months of april and may
5) Belle and Sebastian - twee english indie pop

My son is in a funk because his psychiactric nurse told him that "self hair cuts" are a sign of symptoms returning.
