It becomes really frustrating...you would think they would have common sense....

by Cori inthis past weekend, i attended my family's annual reunion (scheduled a week before thanksgiving, and they served turkey...hmmm) and became literally sick because they are all jw and talked of nothing else.
i finally realized how sad the normal jw's life is.
they really have nothing else going for them, thats why the thought of leaving is so unbelievable.

This past weekend, I attended my family's annual reunion (scheduled a week before thanksgiving, and they served turkey...hmmm) and became literally sick because they are all JW and talked of nothing else. I finally realized how sad the normal JW's life is. They really have nothing else going for them, thats why the thought of leaving is so unbelievable. (At one point, they talked heavily over the territory divisions for the preaching work....)
My Dad took the opportunity to speak to me privately about all the meetings I have been missing. The conversation went a little like this....
Dad: Son, wanted to talk to you a little about your meeting attendance. You have to get your act together...
Me: (I smile)
Dad: The system of things is so close to its end, we really should be doing everything we can for Jehovah...(spiritual guilt trip)
I nod my head.
Dad: If not for yourself, then do it for your daughter...she deserves to live (family death guilt trip)
I look away
Dad: I know you have been through alot with the elders, but Jehovah's org is made up of imperfect men...(sorry excuse)
I smile again
Dad: Jehovah should not pay for these mens mistakes....(I bite my tongue)
He went on for several more minutes, repeating himself, until someone finally interrupted. It pains me to see my folks so caught in something that is lying to them....Sorry for the long post, just to needed to vent.

Did you record your hours in field service correctly?
by free2beme ini always hated the shepherding call where they asked you to try and spend more time in field service, as they saw your hours turned in were low.
at a young age, i learned how easy it was to just write down what ever felt right.
i spent about 30 hours a month in field service as a pioneer for two years and never had anyone say anything to me.

I always did. Even when I was regular pioneer, I fudged the reports....but then felt extremely guilty about it. Recently I havent gone out in about a year, and stopped reporting fudged numbers a few months ago. I dont give a crap anymore!!

How much do you spend on the internet?

over the weekend, the broadband company that i used had a "node" out.

I am constantly online...at work and at home. I have a broadband connection at home, and even have my phone service over the internet (VOIP). I log off here at work and boot up at home...we recently went through a phase without internet, and were running around crazy too.

My One Year Anniversary posting here on JWD.......
by AK - Jeff inthis was basically my second year out of the organization - we mark our leaving january 2004. i came across this site and began posting here one year ago today.
[edited to say this week not today].
i have found many here to be truly a blessing from god - no matter your individual views of him.

Another conversation....
by Cori ini was chatting with my wife on my way home from work, and she mentioned a news story she heard about a mother who drowned her 5 children...we were talking about how that is so inconceivable.
she told how she was talking about it with her mother (another devout jw) and stating how that was just unbelievable, how could a mother do this.
her mom answered, "well you know those that dont fear jehovah, act under the influence of the devil".

I was biting my tongue so hard. I couldnt resist. I told her, "See comments like that upset me. So that means that no JW act psychotic and all of the 'worldly' people kill their children."
She answered, "no thats not what she meant"
I then referred to the story that posted here not too long ago about the JW who killed his wife and then himself. I calmed down a bit and mentioned that just because they are JW's doesn't mean they cant act in a crazy manner. I know of 'worldly' people who love their children more than some JW's i know. She looked at me for a moment, and then said, "your right". I dont know if she was giving in, or actually agreeing. But later on she was asking more of the JW man who killed his wife. More real light her way.
Isn't it funny how JW's believe to be the only sane ones on earth? I remember being that naive. Has anyone else heard similar comments??

I love books! Books on all subjects, big or small!! I have tons of books at home...and have read every single one...
I also enjoy writing, have put together a couple of short stories, write poetry, and have been working on several books for the past several years....hopefully I will someday publish atleast one....
I love movies. But not like a normal person likes movies, I love every aspect of movies, the production, screen-writing, casting of them...I would love to write and direct them. Maybe someday I'll get the chance (interesting enough, Im not into acting...more of a behind the scenes guy).
