Ever Lose Your Cool

i work in the advertising world - i run the department and have 5 staff memebers that report to me.. 1 accountant, 2 sales reps and 2 layout and design.

my one rep is sluggish, no drive, no umph, does the bare minimum and no matter how times he is warned, encouraged, you name it his attitude doesn't change.

i've lost my cool on a couple of occasions with him becuase he has a total disregard for authority.

Just so that I can follow you, when you say "these people" what kind of people are you referring?

Second, I am not sure how it is there, but as a manager and supervisor, you hire people that are qualified to do the job, you do a background check, get references from other employers and you hire the best person for the job. You then have a three month probationary period, where you access the person's skill level, fit with the company and work ethic, in that case anyone that is not a good worker or has issues, you fire them, it's really that simple.

I have always believed that if one person is giving you a problem, look at the person, but if two or more are giving you the same kind of problem, it's time to do an analysis of yourself...

anyone else have to deal with being herded to the front of the hall before a meeting?.

i recall one cong in particular...west sacramento was notorious for this crap.

i was a large individual and today i am even larger....lol 6'2" and around 250 lbs back then.

Another example of control. As a free person you can sit wherever you want and no one should do anything to force you to sit anywhere else. I recall elders trying to do that growing up and I would leave or just go to the back and sit on a bench. No wonder so many JWs are psychologicall screwed up.

Shocking rules in the past/ present of society...

not a rule anymore;.

1. you couldn't get a divorce if mate cheated on somebody of the same sex or an animal.

2. you couldn't get an organ transplant.

I just think it is really interesting the foolery of these rules, some of them are downright ridiculous.

A bow tie? Buying a box from a garage sale and now you have invited in the exorcist? Please.

I've just become a father

i have been married for 10 years and have two wonderful step kids, 15 and 21. being a jw i did not want a child as life seemed so pointless.

things changed for the better since leaving and i am now the proud father of a big baby boy zac - 9pounds (4.1kg), 52cm long and huge lungs.

my wife is filipino so the baby looks very asian at the moment.

the elder giving the public talk a couple of weeks ago told the congregation that there are more and more.

movies and tv programs, like charmed, or books and movies like harry potter that must be avoided at all costs.

because they are a direct link to demonism and spiritism.

Here's the funniest part of all that, is that there is nothing more occult, more involved in mysticism than the bible itself.

Invocating and talking to dead spirits? All in the bible. Interpreting dreams? All in the bible. Astrology? All in the bible. To me, it is just hypocrisy on end and I am neither advocating or attacking, but religion itself is based on the mystic, just one form versus another.

Yes and Yes.

All it is a big time acting job and little else. Empty promises, polarizations, this group against that group and the only people that are really represented are the 1%.

It's all BS, to me.

New 2008 Rules for A$$emblies?

we know that the a$$emblies have become more programmed every year.

they did away with food service.

I was thinking about this subject last night before I went to sleep, here's some things I found completely faulty about the reasoning of the JW people in regards to not purchasing food at nearby restaurants, mall, etc.

If anyone is staying over from out of town, where in the world do they think these people are going to buy their food? Most likely a supermarket. If they don't go to a mall or fast food place, they are still going to buy their food from somewhere in the area to eat. Food doesn't grow on trees, supplies for food doesn't grow on trees, JW will still 80% of the time still have to give their money to the local grocery stores. So what is the point of trying to control what someone brings in by a certain brand? You don't think they are going to buy that brand when they are not there in their hotel rooms.

Honestly, I feel that in this instance, it is infringing on the civil rights of people because it is trying to control them to the point of their sustance, and it isn't even a logical well thought out argument. It is by far the stupidest thing I have read in a long time.
