  i guess its time to throw my little story out there.

  i keep reading everyones stories and thinking how brave you have all been, coming out of the organisation and facing all the repercussions of doing so.. .

  i only last august disassociated myself.

  "Why does America always bomb other countries?", my son asked tonight.

  first of all i do not want to turn this into an american bashing thread, that is not my intention at all.. i would like to hear americans opinions as to what my thirteen year old son asked me tonight.. on the way back from swimming tonight my two sons (13 and 11) and myself started talking about wars.

  my 11 year old was the first to bring it up talking about wwi & ww2.

  we had an interesting conversation about it, then the subject got onto nuclear bombs.

  I suppose his questioning was along the line of why other countries never bomb America?

  Tell him to stick around. I suspect America will be recompensed in the very near future.

  I hate to sound fatalistic, but I agree. In the next ten years I suspect every US city will be bombed - most likely by Russia.

  i looked in the mirror this morning and noticed i look somewhat middle eastern with the longish curly head and facial hair.

  then it hit me.

  i was detained for a few minutes by an american (dont know what he was) before bording an international flight back to the us.

  I didn't say you looked like Tim McVeigh, but you do look like the type that would follow his ideology, that's why I said "type". People that are in militia and support his belief look a certain way, I have met a few and they tend to favor your look - no offense.

  I don't think you got profiled because you might be Middle Eastern, I think you possibly were pulled out because you look like the type that may have guns, be in a milita like a Timothy McVeigh type...

  financial connections

  it would not surprise me if there are some people that are still in the "truth" because of financial connections.

  for example, if the jw parents are very wealthy, i am sure the children do not want to leave the truth for that very selfish reason.

  Honestly, not really because most of the JWs I knew were struggling financially, especially those that didn't go to college, worked jobs such as cleaning crews and such to devote all their time to the great JHOVA.

  I only knew of one very wealthy brother, and he was heavily recruited to join the JW religion and he came when he wanted and didn't come when he wanted and he would never stopped giving money to his children regardless of what the organization told him. But that's only my experience. In theory I am sure that would hold true.

  are some enabling jws to treat us like crap?.

  i only present this question because i realized that i was an enabler my whole life and didn't realize it.... this is why i feel this way.... i have heard a lot of "jws treat you like this because they think its right", because "they love you" "there trying to do whats right", etc, etc... these might be very true statements.. however, no matter how much they disagree with us, it is wrong to attack us personally, attack our character even if they do it because they think its the right thing to do.. family members did this to me.

  The apostate is a catch-phrase that is so silly when examined, it makes no sense. I remember when I was young, I was so indoctrinated with this "apostate" ideology that the mere mention of it was something like the devil himself. I remember they used to preach something like a dog eating his own vomit. Such a cult mentality, the seeds of irrationality are planted so early.

  There is nothing wrong with questioning any belief, idea or subject matter that you have issues about and just like there are witnesses who sit around all day long and attack other religions, those that they were formerly, that would make them apostates as well, under their own interpretation.

  this may not be my dumbest moment, but i'm sure it ranks pretty high.

  when i was a young kid, we had a swimming pool.

  i used to swim just about every day after school.

  Well this was when my brother and I were young, maybe 6 and 7. My mother had potted plants all over the house and we were horseplaying when my mother had went upstairs for whatever reason - probably to take a nap. We accidently knocked over one of her potted plants, dirt was tossed all over the floor, so we hurried to get the vacuum cleaner to vacuum it up, not realizing my mother had just watered the plant with a bunch of water.

  I can honestly say I lived through being shocked electrically, my brother and I, but did we stop vacuuming?? Noooo, we wanted to clean it up.
