How often and how long can you repeat the same thing over and over. I truly believe they do a three year circular topic launch. People are catching on and are getting bored.

Public Talks- What do you think about the changes?
by Connaughty inwhat do you think about the reduced time of the public talks?.
i actually find it pleasant, it makes it a lot easier to tolerate some of the boring speakers.
but what about the service.

Start the conversation on a light note and then say, "well how's about that 144,000" and then say, "kind of funny how that has changed, what about three times now".
Then you could say, "well Armaggedon has come and went and we are still here eating dinner". Then say, "can you pass the mash potatoes?"

"This change shows how close the end we REALLY are..............."
by Warlock inaccording to one of my relatives, the co said, on a recent visit, that the offer of "everlasting life" will be brief and to the point.. when street witnessing, if people refuse, do not chase them.
in the door to door work, if someone is not interested, do not persist, just leave.. according to my relative, these changes really show "how close to the end we really are".. why is it that every change is interpreted as "this change shows how close to the end we really are"?.
i have come to realize that the wts are masters at jerking people around, and i really hate it!.

In ten years they will be saying the same thing. I would suggest when that was said again, ask them is that how they talked in 1975????
The entire FS is a joke anyway and there are only a few that follow that nonsense repeatedly chapter and verse.

I think the man was mentally unstable and violent to begin with, however, I do believe that being a JW exacerbated his tendencies because everyone knows how JWs are about intimidation and pressure when one of the family members is not a JW. I can totally believe that he took it too far. Would a religion that is supposed to represent a God of love, do that? When God is not a religion in the first place, I think not!
I hope she divorces him, gets her children away from that maniac and he is put under the jail.

Birthdays are now a matter of conscience????
by sacrebleu ini just heard this.
i can't believe it.
does anyone know if this is true?.
-

The reasons for not celebrating birthdays are ridiculous to say the least.
There is NOTHING biblical written ever that makes even a remote mention to "GOD" condemning people that choose to celebrate their birthday. You don't think that Jesus and the disciples enjoyed a good party, some wine and chat? Please.
This is one of those silly doctrines that never ever washed with me, because even the justification for not doing made absolutely no sense. It wouldn't surprise me in the least that they changed their tune on it, although I doubt it.

Well my mother and I haven't really been talking at all for the past couple weeks just hi and bye. Tonight after meeting again(shocker) she tells me that I need to make up my mind once and for all and not go back on the decision. She keep saying I'm a pretty girl who could get a nice brother. She saying why am I breaking gods law, being rebellious and going outside the circle to the world. I don't know how to tell her that I DON'T THINK I AM. I love her but deep down I would feel like a fake going to meetings because I just have too many doubts about it. I'm thinking about writing down how I feel about the things I find wrong and see what she says but I don't know if that will work on her. I also should tell them that I want to marry him once and for all. They will tell me to go and have very limited contact with me and my dad might try to get "help." But If they make me leave I'm not speaking to anybody about anything! Seems like she wants an answer by the end of the week. Its now or never! Wish me luck, you guys are all I really have for support from ppl who truly understand!
Well I hope everything works out. Have you looked at your campus and on craigslist for a temporary place to say where you can rent a room? (Worse case scenario). Always have a back up plan in case things don't go the way you want. I have seen witness parents boast about kicking their children out of the house, so be prepared.
My advice is to be prepared for your mom and tell her that you love her very much, but you need some time to MAKE YOUR OWN CHOICES, but since you live in her home you are willing to respect her wishes. Tell her your biggest concern is that you don't want to be homeless, so if it comes down to her will against yours, ask her if she doesn't mind you looking for another place to live and moving to a different congregation. Be nice, don't raise your voice, keep emotion out of it - that way you stay in control of the situation. I hope that helps.
Please utilize your school's support system, I am sure they have some things to help, as well.

Crackdown on "sisters" volunteering at DCs
by dozy inthe wts has sent a letter to all convention overseers expressing their increasing concern at sisters "directing brothers" at district conventions.. with immediate effect (ie for dc 2008), sisters are no longer to be used as volunteers in parking and security / watchman departments.
any sisters volunteering in other departments (eg toilet cleaning) must be subordinate & follow the direction of appointed brothers.
this move will put a huge burden on the dcs in my area - nearly half the volunteers for parking are sisters and there aren't enough volunteers as it is.

More of that female gender discrimination going on. Reminds me of another reason I find the JWs really disgusting, the way they treat women like they are secondary to men. Now if anyone were to take a legal battle on this grounds, they may just have a case.

DFs over 18 years ago. But I so don't play by their rules, I don't even use such verbiage in my language. Words like DFs, DAs, apostate don't even mean anything to me, so honestly the only time I even reference it is when I am around other JWs or exJWs who want to discuss it. For example, if I met someone and they said, "I'm an apostate", it really wouldn't mean anything to me whatsoever.
I still talk to just about everyone in my family, just not about JW stuff - once in a while they try to throw something in, I just say "uh huh" and talk about the weather. They hate that. LOL
I think the WTS is a cult, it is stained with hypocrisy, lies and manipulation. It has broken up families, friends and I know way too many people who are wrecked socially, have intimacy issues, have a hard time relating to the outside world, so the religion doesn't ring favorable with me. On the other note, I know there are some good people who just got caught up in something they believed is right, as intrinsically I believe part of man's quest is to understand the world around them and make sense of it.
The WTS is set up to be extremely difficult to get out of, emotionally and psychologically tormenting.

My theory is that there are more than a few and it is because they are so close to the "source" that they become aware of the hypocrisy and lies and deception that can be hidden by being a blind follower.
In fact, I think this is one of the places where by no outside interference, one can turn just by being there.
