If you are not happy in your current place of dwelling, leave. If you can get an ancestral visa (love that term), go for it. Life is too short to live anywhere and be miserable...

Immigration
by Princess Daisy Boo inloubelle has started a couple of threads about the really bad situation we are living in here in sa.
they are no exaggeration - things really are not great and people around us all seem to be talking about whether to leave or not.
and for the first time, we are amongst those talking about leaving - debating whether or not we would be able to give up life here and start over somewhere else.

I like all people regardless of race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation and I dislike people regardless of race, ethnicity or sexual orientation. I have no right to judge someone by whom they happen to love or whom they want to cuddle with late in the night. Love is hard enough for one person, I don't need to try to figure out what someone else is doing.
I have yet to hear an educated reasonable reason to mistreat or dislike someone who happens to be attracted and involved with the same sex. It makes absolutely no sense. I am so happy I am free from that judgmental nonsense. Live and love how you want and I will treat the same as anyone. With decency and respect.

Your funny stories of being a JW
by Layla33 ini was just thinking that maybe to lighten it up a bit and we could talk about our funny stories about being in the jw religion.
i thought it would be fun to read.. some of my favorities:.
running a block and a half from dogs when i was about 8.. letting all my note cards when i was giving a talk fall to the floor.. tripping over the stairs as i participated in a demonstration.. laughing out loud in a talk and not being able to stop until i went to the bathroom.. having a fit of coughing that disrupted the entire meeting.

I used to really like Oprah and as a woman I think it is great what she has accomplished in her life.
However,
She has become a "guru" and it is dangerous grounds to me.

by orbison11 inbut i am thinking of going to church,,,,a rather large one,,,over 1000, chwk alliance church, i think i can hide quite well in a cong.
that big.
have a spiritual need, but so hate organized religion,,so i am so confused,,yet i use to love studying the bible,,,,dont ask me why.

Going to a church is not a big deal and I truly think it can be a freeing experience. When I first left, I went to just about religious organization to listen to what they practiced and ask questions. Trust me, the world will not fall in, demons won't come from the vents, if nothing else you are breaking the barriers and experiencing other belief systems on your terms.

Breastfeeding not allowed.
by The Scotsman inshocker at the group last week..... i was at the group last week (1st in about 4 weeks) and the conductor (the p.o.
) takes a sister aside and tells her that she was not allowed to breastfeed her baby before or after the book study because "someone" found it awkward.. hmm, i wonder if it was him that found it awkward.. anyway the twist in the story is that the group meets at her house.
the sisters husband was far from happy but is to reserved to do anything about it.

Totally ridiculous. I would have had the meeting moved out of my house immediately, better yet it would have been the catalyst to wake up to this silly little collective "society" I belong. The nerve!

How many of the 144K anointed were in your congregation
by MOG ingrowing up in the spanish congregation in chicago - i knew 4-5 of this supposed anointed.
all of them no longer are jw, 2-3 of them started their own religionthe other 2 was a mother and son.
they never went house to house, never raised their hands in meetings, never went to the book study we held is our own private homes.

I knew of one in in Levittown, PA, I forget his name, he had a big head and was so full of himself. I remember when he got married and asked the elders and a few brothers to show him how to have intercourse. The way it was retold is that they were pulling their pants down and everything. I knew this man was completely and positively insane.
I met this older woman one time at a "special talk" that claimed she was annointed. She supposedly didn't figure it out until she was in her 60's. I remember talking to her and feeling like she was lonely and wanted attention.

I could write a book on this topic alone, but I learned my lesson early because I was 16 and learned the rules hard and fast.
Here's a few rules for coworkers and work in general that I live by:
1) Always be on time. To be early is to be on time.
2) Mind your business, don't get involved in gossip.
3) Trust no one because at work, anyone could become your rival and backstabber.
4) Be nice and respectful to all, but keep your personal business to yourself and don't get drawn in to other's personal business. Try not to sermonize or give unsoliciated advice. Avoid the happy hours and office parties - if you go don't stay over 30 minutes.
5) Do you very best, make yourself an asset to the company you are working.
6) Avoid being a complainer.
7) You are not there to make friends, you are there to do a job. Occasionally you may make a friend, but keep the overall purpose in mind at all times.
