alternative medicine/healing...tried any? is it nuts?
by oompa ini have gone to chiropractors for years...and some are pathetic quacks....some really help me.
i had severe tendonitis in my elbow and tried reg.
doctors for six months...was helped more in one visit to a acupuncturist!
-
Layla33
Well I believe in alternative medicine, especially Asian alternative medicine. Have you considered a acupuncturist? Asians have some of the longest lives of anyone on the planet and their methods of healing are reknowned. It can't hurt, just do your research and separate the real from the fake...

disfellowshiped jw's relationship
by vat152 inhi all i'm new to this so be patient with me please.. i'm not a jw and never will be but my partner is although she was disfelllowshiped some years ago for adultry with someone other than me which jed to a divorce from her husband (who is still a jw), this happpened about 8 years ago, she then went into a relationship which turned violent and abusive, this ended a couple of years ago.. i met her just over 12 months ago and fell head over heals in love with her and i have proposed to her and we are due to be married in july this year, we have a good relationship except for one thing, the bedroom activities.
she tells me that it makes her feel dirty and cheap and refuses to put her arms around me unless i am covered up with clothes or the quilt, any type of skin contact is a no no, we do occassionaly make love but she hates it.. the thing i want to clear up is this, she is devout about the religion and the wt although she doesn't attend any meetings.
i am led to believe that if a disfellowshiped jw shows repent they are allowed back into the kingdom hall, i know that she would like to be allowed back into the religion, do you think that she is trying to show repent by not making any skin contact with me whilst we are out of wedlock?.

Wow, she needs to get into some therapy, it's a by-product of being indoctrinated for so long in the JW ideology and having the ideas of sex warped.
Talk to some people who were non-believers who were married to JW's or JW sympathizers. Think long and hard about what you are going to get into. Honestly.

Thinking of becoming a Witness again and my reasons for doing so :(
by reniaa ini've been a faded jw for 10 years i left because of my failed first marriage, i'm no hypocrite and realised i had left completely so i embraced the world and dived in, only christmas and birthdays i could not get into, they were too foreign to me having never celebrated them, like if i suddenly tried to do ramadan or something like that.. 1/ all the criticisms of the people in the truth you say on here, i've found in the world, warts and all only in the world nothing holds them back from being utterly horrible to you.. 2/ i got stabbed by a worldly boyfriend, i got married 2 times of my own choosing to men outside the truth, the first smoked and was an alcoholic, the second gambled every penny we had and defrauded me out of money after we separated, 2 divorces later i am currently pregnant and a single mum since current boyfriend decided kids was to much of a responsibility and he needed his freedom and i was 'too selfish to expect him to give up his life'.. 3/ parents-in-law!
i have been shunned by them as equal to anything you accuse witness families of and for the silliest of reasons, i had a disabled son and his grandparents said they wanted nothing to do with him because they didn't want to become attached in case he died.. 4/ i miss the honest friendships of the truth, i had friends of all ages from 14 to 80 years old and they genuinely cared for me, many trying to keep me in the faith a long time after i left but i was determined to fade so moved away completely, but i find friendships in the world so shallow in comparison and very hard to sustain :( i've never been a drinker and sometimes thats what friendship means you being a companion for them to goto pub with.. 5/ my recent boyfriend was in a christian religion, i thought why not find out about it, harvest churches if you ever heard of them, unfortunately it still hasn't stop him leaving me pregnant and alone and when i said to him how does he clear that with god, he replies "as long as i repent it doesn't matter" it's like he has a "get out of jail free card" for any wrong-doing in the bible, this is so alien to me and my witness trained conscience.. 6/ i recently out of frustration tried looking into atheism and joined their forums, it wasn't fun, they are as bombastic and arrogant as their religious counterparts can be from any religion, they make a religion out of not believing in god, it's very weird they talk of saving people from believing in god and offer nothing to replace it.
they said to me "be happy you are in reality now and enjoy it" and i thought "well if this is reality i've had enough of it".

Sounds like "battered persons" syndrome to me. Just because you experienced abuse @ the hands of non-jw's does'nt mean that they are not abusive. As a matter of fact, they are. I'd HIGHLY suggest some counseling, and treatment for PTSD.
I was just about to type something just like this, so I just won't type it again. With the sexist, sexual abuse of minors, the lies of doctrine, the incorrect belief of the 144,000, the flip flopping of Armeggedon, the fear and so much more, the only reason I can think someone wants to go back is because it is easier to do so. I can't walk anyone's path, but for a belief system to have harmed so many, not just sexually, but emotionally, I could never be apart of it.

Immigration
by Princess Daisy Boo inloubelle has started a couple of threads about the really bad situation we are living in here in sa.
they are no exaggeration - things really are not great and people around us all seem to be talking about whether to leave or not.
and for the first time, we are amongst those talking about leaving - debating whether or not we would be able to give up life here and start over somewhere else.

South Africa is stunningly beautiful and our people are beautiful - not eveyone is a criminal but there are a growing number of those.
This statement baffles me!
You say your country is beautiful, but the criminals are growing everyday. I guess my question isn't it really that the hands of criminality have changed? I mean when was this elusive time when South Africa was such a great place without violence? I mean tens of thousands of black native indigenous people were being killed, imprisoned and beat on a regular basis, so much so that the international community condemned you! The issue I have with your remarks is not that people are suffering in South Africa, but the fact that you are acting like it is new. Apartheid was such a crime against humanity with hate and bloodshed it will be remembered for centuries. These people had no where to run. When you talk about the news not giving a real and authentic analysis of what is going on, pray tell, please tell us? Can you do it without being racial? Can you give an honest analysis of the true extent of what is going on?
What I think is happening is the so-called protected people of South Africa that flourished with the best of the best are now having the reality put in their faces. You "progressed" while people lived in shacks without running water, without electricity, pooping in streets, denied access to certain places, beat/killed/raped, the majority of indigenous people suffered, nothing like you are suffering now mind you, because it was one way, "whites" had the control, had the privileges, lived in the luxury and others had nothing. Shanty houses regularly torn down to shreds. Have your house been bulldozed this week? Do you still have running water? Still have internet access? Own your own company? I want to feel for you and on some levels I do, because it must be a serious wake up call that your luxury of privileged color status is now over. And I wish I could say it started with Apartheid, honestly whites have been creating hell for the indigenous blacks for far longer, you think 15 years is going to undo it? You think some people aren't raging mad to have watched their brothers and sisters generationally broken down systematically? Of course they are. Now yes there needs to be a peaceful solution with all people having a buy in. But this is these people ancestral home, their land, and unlike you, they can't run, they are connected to it in ways that someone who is an immigrant or a child of an immigrant is not. What you need to realize is that your privilege status of color is now over, the native people have to get past their anger and you know what, that may take another generation to do, that's honest talk.
Think about Indians, Asians, South Americans, who have all gone through the same pains. Kicking out colonization and white supremacy and finding a sense of self. If you are calling another place your ancestral home and you have allegiance to it, I honestly believe that South Africa is not the place for you because you have no real connection to it in a way that needs to be for a better future. Immigration to your ancestral land is the best thing. People that really want change, and really are connected to the betterment of South Africa even with the woes are the ones who need to stay. And for the most part that is the indigenous people.

Torn between being Gay and the Truth.........
by ScoobySnax inis there anything worse than this?
sometimes it is ok, other times it sucks.

Scoob let me tell you from my point of view -an active witness. I know many witnesses who believe it is the truth that practice wha they are not supposed to. Many elders drink excessively -that is a "sin". Where does it say in the bible that being gay is worse than drinking.
I know many young ones in the truth , married and otherwise who practice oral sex. They are not suppose to. Where in the bible does it say that being gay is worse than doing oral?
I myself practice things I am not supposed to. The bible condems lying but the GB and others do it all the time. Where does it say in the bible that being gay is worse than lying?
You be happy
Why are you involved in something that is hypocritical at best, and doesn't even stand up to its own standards? I don't know your story, but being aware that this doctrine is basically a lie and not followed anyway, is weird and then giving advice with this as a standard to pick and choose, but follow(?) is also strange.

It's so interesting to hear how other countries are in regards to internet use. Some of it is really familiar to the US and then it depends on the company.
Sometimes I think about Big Brother and the book 1984. When does it become too far? I mean getting in trouble because of a banner is a tad bit ridiculous.

Well honestly I see this as no different than when Indian people in India pushed out the European regime, the Europeans were probably very upset about their plight, HOWEVER, for the many years that Indian people suffered, it was a very different perspective, was it not?
South Africa is going through its growing pains. For a very long time, there was a very very small minority of people who ruled the native indigenous people of that country and denied them their basic human rights and now as they are trying to balance things, there are issues. The party of those very small ruling minority are losing their supreme status and understanding and going through some of the things that all those people (over 80% of the population had to go through), without some type of ancestral visa to use because that was their ancestral land. It is not right or fair, but honestly, as people to right wrongs and bring things to a livable and fair life for all, it is going to happen, unfortunately.
I feel the pain of anyone suffering in South Africa, but it is only fair to try look at it in a honest and fair perspective. If immigration works for some people, maybe it is the best thing.

Has the Org gone witch-hunting those who are gone, but not Dfd?
by cyber-sista inhey it's been awhile since i've left--almost 5 years now!
i haven't visited this site for quite a while now.
i was never dfd, but i have little contact with anything to do with jws.

I have also heard they are supposed to do some kind of once a year meeting on those DF'd, as well. And depending on how you answer, you can be labeled an "apostate". This happened to my aunt and it was horrible. I am so very glad I am three or four states away from where I used to live, no one in this area that is a JW knows who I am or anything and I am so glad. If they came here on some kind of sheparding call, they wouldn't even get a conversation.
