I think the issue of immigration is changing the landscape all over the world. There are people with similiar issues in the US. People have been migrating all over the world for thousands of years, I don't think it will change.

My home Town
by Peppermint inthere was a time when i understood where i came from.
most people from my hometown would have similar goals and aspirations.
it has always been diverse and welcoming to outsiders, but now i feel like the outsider and not particularly welcome myself.

I think 12 years old it too old to have a boyfriend. 15 maybe, but still a little too young. I can understand liking a boy at that age, sending notes and having lunch at school, but other than that, no I would not endorse it with my child. I think 16 is a great age to start dating, going out but once you have had "the talk" with your child and have spent enough time nuturing them, so they make good decisions in the dating world.
There are just too many young women out there that get caught up, get pregnant, etc. I also believe healthy honest communication is key. I remember a young witness girl I grew up with, her JW family told her "don't do it", no discussion, no dialogue, just "no, only for marriage", so they girl rebelled and got pregnant at the ripe age of 10 YEARS OLD.

Memorial conundrum - "So good to see you. Where have you been?"
by Meeting Junkie No More inok, gearing up for the memorial - our annual have to attend.
this is the first year that we will be showing up without having been to meetings in months.
on the last meeting i was cajoled into attending, i was bombarded with the above question.

I am amazed at how many adults still go to this, who otherwise, don't attend. Maybe it's me, but I find it surprising...

"KNOCKING" LEGAL ACTION AGAINST WATCHTOWER COMMENTS
by V inthis notice was emailed to a third party who embeds watchtower comments videos on his blog:.
"my name is tom shepard, co-producer and co-director of knocking, a documentary about jehovah's witnesses.
you have violated u.s. copyright law by not gaining permission to use footage from knocking in the opening sequence of your series of short videos "watchtower comments" archived at the url: http://jehovahswitnessesvideo.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html .

Wanted to add this:
Fair Use.
Fair use or fair practice is utilization of a portion of a copyrighted work "as is" for purposes of parody, news reporting, research and education about such copyrighted work without the permission of the author. Use of copyrighted works, or portions thereof, for any other purpose is not deemed fair use, so be careful! That includes copying text or scanning pictures from postcards, magazines, books or any other work. Scanning a photo of the Amazon Forest printed in National Geographic, and using it without permission on your personal web site where you write about your family trip to South America will most likely not be considered as fair use. However, if you republished the photo on your site to comment on the photo as it was published in National Geographic, this would most likely be considered fair use. You still have to credit your source by naming the author of the work on the same page. If possible, take the time to contact the owner and request permission to use the owner's work, and more likely than not the owner will be very appreciative and give you a favorable response.

Is what they are discussing considered "fair use"? I happen to deal with copyright issues all the time. Before using any material from another source, go to this site www.whatiscopyright.org and be informed about it.
If you have specific question, feel free to PM me.

Ex-JWs... feelings of isolation, agoraphobia...?
by Moxie inhi all... :) sorry for the novel.... i'm just wondering if there are any others out there who share similar experiences as me or have any comments and insight.... when i was a jw i was very, very social and active with friends and family in a wide range of activities.
i would even have considered myself the party-starter ;).
i used to plan events and social get togethers for all kinds of situations.

My heart goes out to you, I think there are some many ex-JWs that can understand what you are going through.
The issue is that your entire support system has changed, for many people that were rasied in this religion or have stayed in it for more than 10 years, have their friends and a lot of time family all interconnected, when you walk way it challenges you to start over and for many it is incredibly hard.
I truly wish there were therapists that specialize in this type of tramua and I think there may be some, I would have to look it up.
Things that can help is getting involved in activities, possibly taking a course at a local community college or college. Getting involved in a book club, etc. And when you are feeling very closed off, just force yourself to get out, even if it is a bookstore, or library.
It takes time, but this is a great place to come and make friends and share in your experiences, there are a lot of people that go through this and it does take time.

ok so who exactly is going to the memorial this year....and why?
by Cordelia ini am, my dad is doing it, i'm going to their hall theyve just moved there (to 'help' out).
i figured its the one meeting i can't miss as i upset them by not going to any others at all, also ive made a point of not going to my hall and i won't let anyone know i'm at my dads.
my dad is actually worried i might 'be apostate' about it, as i once said surely passing on the bread and wine is like saying 'no thanks jesus!

Yes I'm going, but I'll be dressed up as Jesus Christ complete with long hair and beard and a crown of thorns on my head and a blood stained robe, just to freak them all out
" But I'm telling you I'm Jesus Christ ! " as I am being escorted out of the hall by two burly attendants.
ROFL! Please take pictures. I would pay money to see that.
