Judge Bans Shunning
by Farkel intoday i spoke with a former jw i've been in touch with for several years and discovered what i think could be a major bombshell for the wts.
as we all know, shunning is the most powerful weapon the wt cult has over its members and for decades the wts has been able to get away with practicing it at their whim.
the us and other courts have permitted them to to use it, even though it destroys families and has ruined countless lives.

If your happy leaving the truth why continue.............
by angel eyes injust want to know why some of you,not all, please dont think im meaning all of you because that truly isnt the case, claim to be happy for leaving the truth, being df etc yet you continue to speak about jehovah or attack him or the organisation??
even for many years after.. this would show that your hurt by them df you.
when someone we love hurts us its natural to want to hurt them back because we have feelings for them.so im thinking that many have love for jehovah still??

Hi, the WT raised me up to have all kinds of opinions about other religions, based on JW accounts of all the evil that supposedly happened in them. They also reported to me all the misdeeds and sins committed by what they called "so called christians". Now, how could they do this if they were happy being JW? Was it necessary for the WT to report the issues that plagued other religions?
What's the difference between a JW reporting on facts and anecdotes about the WT when they had years of being dredged in such things regarding other religions?
Happy or unhappy to be out, we may still have some happy or unhappy consequences as a result of leaving-often involving the people we love the most. That is what support groups are for-to vent.
Why do alcoholics discuss their alcohol issues? Most have a physical link still to drinking-the disease. My physical link is my heart-my mom is in the WT org. still and spouts it at me. So, it is like someone on the wagon who has to live with an alcholic drinking in front of them, offering them a shot and well, you know where I am going.
thats why.

How could have Rutherford been a 'drunk'?
by wholewheat ini feel that the apostate's claims that rutherford was a drunk to be far fetched.
on the one hand, they claim that he was so drunk that the brothers at bethel shipped him to san diego to beth sarim, where he stayed drunk out of his mind, then on the other hand, they claimed that he ruled the society with an iron fist, that he was a dictator.
no drunk could have ruled the society like a dictator.

I think this is kind of silly-you are parsing words over the difference between alcoholic and drunk. When your spouse leaves you and your own child has nothing to do with you there may be some indications of the 'drunk' who has serious life issues over the drinking. Add to that, you can read some of the nonsense he wrote and viola! You have a drunk megalomanic. Because the alcoholism seems to be undisputed. The nutsy thinking is undisputed.

Hear It For Yourself
by sammielee24 inthis is an interactive database of people around the world telling stories about their healthcare.
uk, australia, france, canada...people in a variety of systems - universal, social and single payer - talk about their experiences using their health care services.
people in the united states need to start listening to these stories instead of the media lies and political misrepresentations or ommissions of facts that only serve their needs...stop being afraid and start educating yourself for yourself.

I don't have a strong ideology about this healthcare thing(much to my husbands chagrin.) However, I do have the experience of meeting people that come here for medical services as I live in NW WA state, about an hour from the border and in the area where the first major medical services are to be found-particularly in the Children's Hospital where I met a few Canadian families getting medical care for children that was not obtainable in canada, for whatever reasons. In one specific case, I got the message that for most things it was great, but if you have a really sick kid and time is of the essence, maybe not so much.
I have also recently had a really good experience with my greedy, money grubbing health insurance (Blue Cross) that paid for a child's surgery that I had forgotten to get 'pre-approved' and which was not life and death, but ultimately, necessary. They(ins) called and asked me if I had preapproved it, and I gasped when I realized that I had not. She said she would check it out and a couple of weeks later I got the EOB stating it had been PIF. They had to have known it was coming, but if they were as evil as portrayed by some media, they would have refused pmt. and bankrupted us.Of course, I could have continued taking my son into the ER for the next 10 years when he is peeing blood and dehydrated . . . . So, he was all fixed up by expert surgeons and a robot and has remained symptom free since the end of May.
Maybe I am lucky-I feel lucky. Not so much because of my insurance. I take it for granted. But I am totally blessed in that I live in a place and time where his illness could be corrected and him home the day after a 7 hour surgery. I know that the US govt. funds a lot of the advancements that have happened in medicine. I am concerned that if they are paying for this 'reform' that advancements will no longer GET funded. I also know that one of the biggest issues in this country health care wise, is access. There are places that rarely have a doc w/in driving distance or that can't get a doc to serve in the areas that are filled with poverty. I think there may be better ways to solve the 'crisis' than what they have planned at this time. There definitely needs to be changes, but that new enormous beaurocracy is not going to fix what really ails us.

Ending the Disfellowshipping Arrangement?
by sammielee24 ini was reading this on the forum for bible students where there seems to be some elder training that will focus on conscience issues and disassociaiton instead of disfellowshipping.
this makes sense from a legal standpoint because there would be no jc but interesting enough, how would someone become disassociated and then shunned?
if shunned would this then place the legality of it all back onto the family members instead of the elders?
-

I don't know how this removes any legal repercussions when JWs are instructed to treat DA'd and DF'd folks the same. Unsubstantiated accusations are now considered substantiated simply because a person doesn't respond to a summons? Sigh.
It's one way to force people to choose-they are on to the 'fading' technique. Shouldn't have bragged so much!

The “Organization” is paramount to worshiping Jehovah himself
by Leprechaun inwhen one says i am worshiping jehovah and respecting the organization it is one in the same, and it has always made me sick to see the god of the holy bible dragged to a debased human level, way too much honor is readily given to the quote organization instead of to the great and wondrous god jehovah and his son.
i would not want to be in the shoes of the governing body of the jehovahs witnesses when that time of trouble comes upon this earth in the form of the great tribulation, for they have misguided many sheep like people to worship an institution a publishing company a cult of personalitys rather than our maker..

Huge development concerning Watchtower.org and "apostate" comments.
by DT inwouldn't you love to comment on the watchtower.org site so that other visitors can see what you think about their doctrinal flip flops, false prophecies and dangerous medical practices?.
it's no surprise that watchtower.org doesn't allow comments.
they know that "apostates" would point out the embarrassing details about their religion and history.

Renaai, you just made a direct comarison to the WT and Jesus Christ. As if speaking the truth about one was the same as betraying Jesus. If people speak the truth about the WT, how is that betraying Christ?

Reniaa would perhaps LIKE us to be like Judas and cower in darkness and then kill ourselves.
YES, some apostates are agressive, but frankly, NONE are so agressive as to go door to door annoying people with their beliefs regarding the WTS. Personally,I only speak to those who show by their PRESENCE on a discussion forum that they are willing to discuss the subject. Hopefully reasonably.
