Nephew Readying for Harvard

Jehovah's Witness School Principal a "tyrant and a bully"
by sizemik ina controversial coney island principal has pulled the plug on patriotism.. her refusal to let students sing god bless the usa at their graduation has sparked fireworks at a school filled with proud immigrants.. greta hawkins, principal of ps 90, the edna cohen school, wont allow kindergartners to belt out the beloved lee greenwood ballad, also known as proud to be an american, at their moving-up ceremony.. context: middle correlation photo five classes spent months learning the patriotic song, which skyrocketed in popularity after the 9/11 attacks and the 2003 invasion of iraq.it was to be the rousing finale of their musical show at the june 20 commencement.
the kids, dressed up for their big day, would wave tiny american flags which, as the lyrics proclaim, still stand for freedom.. but hawkins marched in on a recent rehearsal and ordered a cd playing the anthem to be shut off, staffers said.. she told the teachers to drop the song from the program.. we dont want to offend other cultures, they quoted her as explaining.. the curt edict stunned both staff and parents.. a lot of people fought to move to america to live freely, so that song should be sung with a whole lot of pride, said mom luz lozada, whose son, daniel, is in kindergarten.. the song has been sung at previous school events.
last years fifth-graders, including another lozada child, performed it at graduation.. everybody applauded and whistled, the mom said.

sounds like a JW all right! Right down to controlling when bodily functions can be exercised: during the lunch break of the convention-er-school day.
I read one supportive letter-I'd say it was a JW parent who wrote it.

Pyramids and Dates

i don't know that any real bible student of that time had the opportunity to actually measure any part of the great pyramid-as it is in egypt.

Many years ago the WT had written a lot about how many feet there were between certain parts of the pyramid as related to some dates given by the WT organization. I don't know that any real Bible Student of that time had the opportunity to actually measure any part of the Great Pyramid-as it is in Egypt. I thought that after all of these years, maybe if you had the correct measurements, you would be able to more accurately make predictions.
As it is, I live in Giza, Cairo, Egypt at this time and can be there in about half an hour, depending on traffic. If you would like, I could get you the real measurements and I am sure you could correlate them whatever dates will continue to encourage your followers. By the way, the Pyramids are lovely this time of year!
If you are further interested in dates, it is well known that the best dates used to be in Iraq, but the orchards were destroyed during the recent conflicts the last 22 years or so, so now you get the best ones in Saudi Arabia, Medina is most popular in the MENA region. Just FYI

After twenty four years of loyal service, I am about to commit treason...
by CaptainSchmideo inof a sort.. i have been with the same company for 24 years, and the last 5 have not been very enjoyable for me.
i like the owner of the company, but the management team is terrible, and the dept.
i work in (tech service) is demoralized.

A company that I had worked for for a few years recently went out of business. I know of 3 employees that had been with them since the begiining-about 35 years ago, not long after the Vietnam War. The boss ran off with the money, left customers in the lurch and employees without their pay. I am pretty certain that any benefits going to the long timers went with him. Loyalty might be misplaced.

etc they have a lot of meaning to christians yet all i truly remember is jesus being ark angel, the messiah, undeserve kindness, greek and roman scripture, etc.. .

I have to brag about my kid
by JeffT inalex, our youngest graduated cum laude from the university of washington today with a bachelor's in environmental science and a minor in quantitative analysis.
he has a job in his field.
he and his fiance, who also graduated today (biology) are getting married july 1. she's starting a phd program at berkeley in august, so they're moving.

You must be so happy and proud! UW is a great school and an honor just to be admitted-to graduate with honors is no small feat in any subject, but anything with math-I'm just more impressed;)
I hope the USGS pays more than it used to! They used to be like working at McDonalds-only without the uniform or lunch being provided:)

Anyone use to have horrible nightmares as a child & afriad of the dark due to all the Watchtower Society talk of Demons and Satan??
by mind blown inas a little child i used to have horrible, horrible nightmares do to all the satan/ demon and big a talk.
i was also horrified of the dark for the same reason.

SORRY. After all that-I did not fear demons, or smurfs although one JW aunt was convinced she was tormented by them (I think it was the hooch). I remember being curious, but not very interested and pretty skeptical.

The pictures got to me, the stories about children being destroyed because of their parents. You know, even if you are good to your kids, they still know parents weaknesses-my dad was not a JW and my mom didn't get baptised until I was an adolescent. She smoked until I was 7 and she drank more than I thought was good even then. In the meantime, I had visions of concentration camps(that is how I interpreted persecution) and figured I'd be lucky to get my period before the new system. As I am now in menopause, that fear now seems to be unfounded;)
I feared for all of my school friends, knowing they were doomed. I worried I wouldn't be able to withstand them trying to get a confession out of me or whatever they might do to torment me. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I was a great reader and read vast amounts about Nazi Germany/Holocaust, Indian captives and other dramatic things that just fed my fears with jet fuel. I met a few holocaust survivors just to cap off that fear. I remember wondering if we would get tattoos.
I did have a horrific fear of persecution and used to daydream(daymare?) through meetings about what that could entail. I also remember seeing signs saying that " trespassers will be prosecuted". I was a kid-prosecuted/persecuted. I thought that persecution was kind of harsh for mere trespassing someones yard!
It is funny, I really NEVER had the sense that JWs would "win". And how right I was!

it asks the question "what should be kept in mind if we want some or all of our assets to go to jehovah's organization upon our death?".

Is it only important to fulfill the financial "obligations" to "Jehovah's Organization" or is the trustee supposed to be conscientious in all of his actions towards all beneficiaries? Duh, if the person is going to be an executor and they are such an honest JW that they are taking counsel about it from a WT, then why would THAT need to be spelled out in that way? Aiyiyi

Armenia is orthodox Christian and it pretty much tries to vilify everything that it not them. I hate to say it, but their news outlets are often the sole source of scurrilous attacks on non orthodox christian/Muslim/Jewish religion from what I have read the last few years. I have seen stories there that are recounted all over the persecuted christian sites that have NO other source than Armenian News Agency (or something like that). Armenia has been through a lot socially and politically and they have a persecution complex like unto the WT from what I can tell. They likely have a much bigger right the the chip on their shoulder than the WT, but that is no cause to make up crap.
