I'm sorry, I mean really, they took it out of the Bible. They aren't the only bible version to do that in the NWT, btw. Just FYI.

I would say the OT version because in the NT, John 8:7 has been removed.

Please be super careful. Mixing drugs and sex (any kind) is risky legally and medically. That is just not a road you want to go down. I have lost three gay friends one at 22(suicide after arrests on prostitution charges/drug problems) one at 25(AIDS) and one at 47 (liver failure). I also know people (gay/straight)who have rich and productive lives-but drugs are not a part of their lives. Take care of the substance abuse and learn to deal with your sexuality in a way that you can live with yourself. Keep working hard to improve your situation. It can get better-it can be GOOD, even GREAT. Make great your goal. No matter what. The JW thing is a no go. The LDS thing-not working. If you need spirituality, find it in a place that you can work with who you are, where you are.
Good luck, best wishes.

Why remove John 8:1-11 in the NWT if these verses speak highly of Jesus
by I_love_Jeff ini understand these verses were removed in the nwt as well as some other bibles because they were added later & considered uninspired.
jesus protected an adultress so why remove it?
it fits in nicely with his teachings, does it not?

There were others I knew of that were spurious, but I had always accepted that without question as to whether it was supposed to be there. I DID wonder at some of the explanations about it though because while "go and sin no more" was nice and all, it doesn't really fit with the strict understanding of the OT which Jesus always supported (abeit in a kinder gentler way-that was VERY lenient considering the LAW was clear about it and there are not a lot of extenuating circumstances to think that her adultery was somehow excusable. (not like a mercy on a missing sheep on the sabbath or anything)

New Handbill Campaign
by NoRegrets inapparently the jws are doing a new handbill campaign.
they were just at my door and offered it to me with one of their heartless and scripted presentations.
the religion has just become so dumbed down.

They have now been to my house 3 times since July 6 when I moved here. Every time they asked if we spoke spanish (well, not natively) and they just asked who did and went on their way.
I'd like to ask SFPW why they did not speak to a person who opens the door and DOES speak their language. 2 of the women were English speakers natively, and one was spanish speaking. While I "get" that the spanish one was probably in training or something, isn't finding people at home pretty rare?Should that time not be used to minister rather than just get (pretty cold) leads? Seriously, we all speak the same language, you are right there in my face and you won't speak with me because I don't speak the right FOREIGN language? 2 out of 3 people spoke English perfectly! Why not just TALK TO ME??? I can't imagine that there are so many polite householders opening doors that you should just walk away from even leaving a message only because of language-specially when you SPEAK their language!
Can you explain this?

Its funny, it was only recently that I learned there was any question about those verses. It is kind of interesting to consider-would Jesus have said such a thing when there was a biblical injunction on her behavior already?

I think it was a parental mistake. You blew it and I do think you owe him an apology. You also owe it to yourself to learn some language that puts him in his place as your minor child without reducing him to dirt. He is bone of your bones, flesh of your flesh. You don't want him to feel crappy about himself, just to develop a sense of worth that comes from accomplishment, not entitlement. Help him to accomplish something he can be proud of and let him know YOU are proud of him. I think he is going to need some extra reinforcement there. That speck of dirt comment may be hard to wipe out.
If this was monumentally out of character-then it will have hit him harder, but he will also not be permanently wounded if you remediate it a bit. If you do that all the time, you are going to have a crappy life as a senior citizen.

Effect of family life (me, wife and young boy) if I am df / da and wife zealous jw
by Daniel1555 ini have a question and hope to hear some experiences of you who went or are going through this situation:.
actually for several reasons (blood policy, disfellowshipping policy and some more) my conscience is telling me quite strongly, that i should not anymore be a part of that organization.. my wife and even elders know about my doubts (except blood policy).
however i continue to join the meetings actually just to please my wife and to be together with our baby boy.

Take all the good advice, decide how you will proceed and do your dangest to make sure your son/children are not assimilated. I came from a divided family (dad was never in and only studied briefly before 1975 and recognized it for the BS it was). I wish my dad would have put his foot down about our involvement and insisted that my mom kept it to a minimum, let us be normal in school and with holidays or family events. My mom allowed us sports and I was a girl scout, but the disapproval from others in the hall was palpable. DO NOT LET YOUR SON GET THOSE MESSAGES. Don't let his heart be touched by any of the WT insanity. Please. I wish I had been spared. I know my dad did not allow it so as to harm us, but it did.
Basically-take the advice and BE STRATEGIC. Dont be blindsided because you just do things haphazardly. That is how you keep your son close and hopefully, your family intact.

Feb. 2014 WT , whats this all about???
by Crazyguy inread this in another thread,,,,,,,,,feb 2014 wt.
there, they cast doubt on the application of daniel's 70 weeks prophecy to being fulfilled with christ.. "could the first-century jews have calculated the time of the messiahs arrival on the basis of the prophecy of the 70 weeks recorded at daniel 9:24-27 ?
while that possibility cannot be ruled out, it cannot be confirmed.

Man, I was looking at this thread and trying to be interested, but my eyes kept crossing and I thought-how cool is it that I just don't give a crap about this nonsense anymore!!!!
I used to get into these arguments/theories/teachings-I used to be so invested in proving (something). I just don't care anymore.
Happy, Happy, JOY! JOY!
