OMG I'm so happy!!!!
by Julia Orwell inyup, the apostate is happy.
i shouldn't be, right, because my life is empty without "jehovah" and the organisation.. but i just got a job at one of the best theme parks in the world, which is so what i want to do, and it's the first permanent job i've had since i lost my government job in 2012!.
the job pays minimum wage but i don't care because working in tourism and entertainment is what i want to do!

JNJBurkett,
I am sorry about your stepdad. You will find that the "options" and "choices" will end once you are a JW. You will find that they will be pushing WT ideas about blood, holidays, EVERYTHING on innocent people who happen to be riding in the same car, bus, train with them. Please don't allow them to start harping at someone going through dialysis. They are facing enough and do not need hear about the dangers of any medical treatments they may be getting or about how they are perhaps violating the WT law (Jehovah's) by accepting certain treatments.

My 70 year old mom has a cell phone (hates texting) and uses the internet. She is a little anxious about printing, cut/paste and downloading, but she functions at a pretty good level for someone whose first home had an outhouse and a pump in the kitchen!

If you want to study the Bible,I would suggest that you first read it, and include a few Bible dictionaries, some books to enlighten you about the culture and background. Don't start with a cult denomination if you are just reading/learning it for the first time.
I don't know where you are from or your background, but if you are attracted to the WT idea of no trinity, trust me, they have an entirely different and weird take on the nature of Jesus than you might imagine. Please message me if you have any other questions.

Why are some of you guys calling this new arrangement tithing?
by neverendingjourney inat the risk of being shouted down, i thought i'd point out that "tithing" means giving 10 percent of your income to a church.
it comes from the old english word teogotha meaning tenth.
i've seen nothing that establishes tithing in the watchtower.. while i'm all in favor of pointing out the watchtower's lies, hypocrisies and faults, the language we use matters.

We know the WT will soon come out with a reminder that this is not a "tithe", so why don't we all refer to it as "the not a Tithe".

I think the WT has done "pledges" before and they have made monthly obligations before (KH Loans). I think that this pledging of a monthly OBLIGATION offends a lot of us simply because they want our promise and our obligation with not only nothing in return, no assurances or what have you of how its spent, but they have acquired from so many of us a DEEP DEEP distrust of their motivations, that it is an easy thing to jump on and (of course) loathe. They want families and congregations to PLEDGE each month a totally charitable donation-which becomes a bill, rather than a gift. A loan for ones own kingdom hall (as objectionable and revolting as that was) was at least tangilble. Congregations around the world have been learning that very specific buildings that they have donated for have been found to be unneeded, while the money was simply kept. No one trusts the Borg and they earned it.

Had an argument with my wife about tinkerbell :(
by BU2B inone of my co workers mother made my 4 year old a blanket with the disney character tinkerbell on it.
as soon as i got it i knew trouble lay ahead.
i wanted to reason with her before my daughter saw it so as not to cause a disruption, but it didn't work out that way.

She is nuts. When I was growing up, my biggest goal in life was to go to Disneyland and the same year my mom (finally) got baptised is the year that we went to Disneyland. I LOVED fairy tales--fairy godmothers, peter pan, wendy, tinkerbell. . . (but hey, I'm now an apostate-so I guess not a good example.)
If you have in laws in the religion who took her(wife) to disney, ask them if they think that she was adversely affected or has since shown any signs of demon possession. Seriously! You need to discuss this in a rational way with people who PERHAPS have a memory of some aspect of the borg that wasn't always so insane. If she thinks Disney is ok, you need to plan a trip soon and give her a REALITY check. Or have her ask the elders if taking the kids to disneyland is ok(might want to ask a likely candidate for her question first yourself in case they have lost all their marbles, too).
Keep track of all the bits of insanity that she shows in a notebook. Just in case you come up with the situation of Katewild whose husband is denying HER her child for doing normal things with him. You want custody if it all goes to crap. Not to be negative, but you are not in a normal situation and its not likely to improve soon by the sound of it.

Don't you hate it when they just comment from the paragraph?
by toto555 inisn't that just annoying?
can people even comment in their own words anymore?
how bad is it where you're at?

I used some independent thinking when I was about 8 and got shut down for it. The thing is, I made more sense than any of them did. It was just a comment on something I had learned about some topic-not even challenging as I recall. I remember being mystified about what the issue was as my mom was trying to explain why I needed to stick to the scripted material (she had been counseled about me). She really didn't know what the problem was, so how could she explain it to me? I hadn't done or said anything wrong or bad or even challenging. And it was topical. I remember my mom telling me beforehand tht it was ok since it was related, etc. Oh, well. If they need to counsel an 8 year old for simply thinking outside their paragraphs, it's no wonder the adults are sticking to the scripts! They know all the rules.

by smiddy inthis article appeared on friday may 9, 2014 in the herald sun newspaper in victoria australia.. matt johnston is a state politics reporter.. quote :" all religous ministers will need working with children checks and a new system will be created for organisations to report alleged child abuse, under a $ 10 million state government reform.".
premier denis napthine revealed the new measures,a further response to the state parliments`s child abuse inquiry report, betrayal of trust .. "many ordinary parish based ministers may not have required a wwc check.under this rule , every minister for religion who has any contact with children will require such a check ," he said.. opposition community services spokeswoman jenny mikakos called for the government to move quicker to "address the issues identified".

JWs say that anyone BAPTISED is an "ordained minister". Any JW at all could be called upon to speak with or work with children, whether JW or not, in the course of their "ministry", so would not every JW (at least any publishers) be required to get one? Iwould think the only ones off the hook would be those confined to a sick bed in a convalescent/elderly care home.
