I'm afraid I'd be single for life

this is quite embarrassing for me to share, but as a 30+ year old single female i have lingering doubts as to whether i can still meet a decent man and get married.. you all know how difficult it is for sisters to find an appropriate partner in the congregation.. and now, all the more so that i've learned ttatt.

i still am bound by low self-esteem, and i do have trust issues, especially with men.

i am very lonely and so i just keep myself busy with work to avoid depression (although it is also a great source of stress).. any other single females out there having similar thoughts?.

ohnightdivine, get yourself in order, enjoy your freedom, do the things you want to, take classes and join the clubs that you did/could not join before. Just live your life, find the things that give you joy and if you meet someone, you meet someone.If you dont, you will be enjoying YOUR life anyway.

Have fun! You do have much better odds out of the org. If you are working or going to school, don't demurr too much if you are offered "blind dates". Don't prejudge, keep yourself safe and just figure that every experience (even awkward dates) adds to you as person. Connections are very important to the exJW as we are limited by our past to some degree. Open yourself to new experiences.

Who Will the Circuit Overseers "Report" to Now???

i still do not understand the new structure at this point.. there has to be something between thousands of co's and the gb.

i know there were zone overseers that the do's reported to.. i have spoken to a couple of elders i can talk to frankly and they both said they have no idea.. rub a dub.

Villagegirl-it was the brand. It doesn't work with any pudding. I tried, trust me. Schwanns fudgesicles are somehow remnicent more than other brands of fudge pops. .. .

I'm so glad I will never EVER have to go to one of those events that test ones will to live. They were excruciating and we were supposed to be so thrilled to be there. The only fun we ever had was the year Michael Jackson showed up with his entourage and frankly, that only lasted a few moments until the limo left and they were swept up by security and whisked away to whereever they keep celebrity JWs who are about to be DF'd.

as the title says, please list what you find annoying with the organization..

They train JWs in the art of attack and paranoia. Rather than really examining their own religion, they deflect by finding something "worse" in Christendom or other religion. JWs don't even see how they have been twisted in this way.

Oh, and their finely developed moral superiority that is based on NOTHING actually different than any other religions teach or practice. In any case, they don't actually practice it any better, they just brag about it. Its annoying to listen to their cloying self praise.

I am glad that I am so far away from involvment that I don't know the diff between a district and a circuit or what those guys actually are supposed to do.

I remember some kind of visits from my youth. They usually involved a invitation only lunch (never got the invite) and meetings being rearranged. We had big assemblies and little ones.

still missing the semi frozen pudding. . . I'm getting old. Vaguely recall sunstroke in Phil. assembly/convention, but that day is a little fuzzy.

how do you go about trying to find to an agency that hires out equipment?

Not sure if it matters to you, but I'd hate to give them any actual ammo against you.

is the gb deciding to go back to pre-1971 times with perhaps the cobe as the man in charge and the rest just ministerial servants.

so for this reason they want younger men in those postitions?

soon it will be like "Logans Run" and all JWs over the age of 30 will be required to immolate themselves on a pile of old literature:) They know too much about the "ancient history" (over 3 years of stuff) and might go rogue.

islam /muslims today are what christianity was centuries ago , the two beleif systems are like oil and water , not to be mixed .

christians are not tolerated spreading their infectious disease amongst muslims, in islamic countrys , and harsh penalties apply for them doing so in muslim countries , including the death penalty.

stonings , whippings etc.. on the other hand christian nations are very tolerant of muslim extremists who incite hatred and violence on their own territory , and they get a slap on the wrist and say dont do it again .

Having just gotten back from Pakistan, I can say that the women I saw were treated beautifully. Few womn covered their hair in Sindh/Karachi (major city). It is a totally different life, but those who are provincial can never appreciate that not everyone lives like the people in their zip code.

I like them, but I don't know that I have finished many(one for sure). There is a lot of stuff to do out there and they can get a bit time consuming. OTOH, I like the folks doing it. They take a long time to get where they are going and I'm only semi-retired now. Maybe in 20 years when I get SS (hah).

If you think being a merchant required one to be literate, you are naive. They didn't have spreadsheets. And EVEN if he could read, you think he had access to a whole bunch of scriptures that mmost Jews and Christians had never seen? Books that most people could not afford, and many had never so much as seen? How naive are you? Think he went to the local drugstore and picked up the NIV scrolls or something?

Look up successful illiterate businessmen on google. Get a grip. If you can do it in the 21st century, you think literacy was required in 7th cntury desert Arabia where the main form of transportation was FEET and camels?

Last night, I was just lectured by my ex husbands Catholic live in GF that I was not practicing Islam right since I wasn't wearing a headcovering. It seems can't please any Christians. I guess I should just cover so I don't upset any of your beliefs.

I am pretty dang sick of non Muslims who read hate sites telling me what my religion is. I can read the Quran in context as apparently some here are not capable of. I have lived and worked in Muslim nations. I have visited them. So, don't tell me what it is as if you have a clue. You simply don't. Ignorance is forgivable, but if you are judging others based on it, then you have to examine your own conscience.

As JWs we learned to search out proof texts to serve our purposes of propaganda. Far right/left extremists (of both Muslim and Christian and Jewish and Buddhist persuasions) do the same thing to prove whatever point they are trying to make. I see you following the pattern

You fault me for choosing Islam as a vehicle of my repression resulting from my association with JWs (which I left at 15, unbaptised and with only my mom in the religion). I see that you have chosen Islam as the new focus of your oppression just as JWs focus on "christendom" or Catholics. You had to find someone to pick on.

Maybe you all ought to get a new hobby?
