Should show them the Heb. 9:27 thread on Topix (JW Forum). Discussing the idea of men dying once and facing the judgment.

An important message from a PRACTICING Jehovah's witness
by Sparks inhi, i am also a practicing jehovah's witness and very proud of it,to say the very-very least..!
i am a middle-aged man with many decades of being a witness of jehovah god in england.. this important letter is personally to you, just as many of the bible's 88 letters are to be taken personal by you the reader.
i am writing to you to urge you to take stock of your life, think what your future holds for you.

That marathon letter must have taken ages to TYPE, let alone compose. I think he is just taking the rest of the month off.

Stephen Lett (Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses) Publicly Counsels Politicians During Convention Keynote Address In Africa
by jwleaks inzambia: fulfill promises ... jehovah's witnesses counsel politicianstimes of zambia.
august 23, 2014. by chatula kampo.
a top jehovah's witnesses' world leader has bemoaned politicians' failure to fulfill campaign promises.. stephen lett, who gave a keynote speech at the on-going convention held at levy mwanawasa stadium in ndola, said politicians needed to meet the aspirations of people who vote them into public offices.. meanwhile, conversion overseer john mashilipa has urged fellow witnesses to respect the government of the day, obedient and continue remaining non-partisan.. in the keynote address streamed live from solwezi district in the north-western province, mr lett, one of the seven members of the world governing body said electorates expected much from the people they vote for.. "there is need for politicians to fulfill their promises to their voters once they assumed power," he said.. he observed that most politicians failed to fulfill promises to their voters who had high expectations.. "politicians usually promise a moon and not deliver to their promises, this is disappointing to the voters who have high expectations," he said.. mr mashilipa said believers needed to seek god's kingdom which he said never fails, unlike human governance.. this year's conversion attracted a historic attendance of more than 40,000 people from across the five districts in the province namely; ndola, kitwe, luanshya, mufulira, kalushi and chambishi.. gathered under the theme 'keep seeking first god's kingdom', witnesses filled the stadium and those who could not find seats monitored proceedings from outside.

As soon as JWs have the all clear to vote, then they can complain about politicians not doing what they were voted in to do!

Turns out it was true - "the truth" was the only reason my marriage lasted so long
by Shattered Reality ini haven't really been on here in like, a year.
my stbx introduced me to this site and then a whole buch of life happened and i just sort of never had time for forums.
but here i am at 3am, another sleepless night, and i feel like i am simply lost.

My half assed opinion-let him go, take your kids and set him free to be happy and learn to support himself. You may not think he is a total loser-he may have redeeming qualities, but the marriage is over, he just wants the fringe benefit of a sugar momma, without having to give up any sugar. Lose him.

The only paradise mentioned in the NT is in heaven. Not earth.
The WT teaches a that folks get a fresh start at the resurrection to live for 1000 years. The Bible does not teach that. It's only playing at being bible believing. It puts a lot of words in God's mouth via the organization and you are supposed to swallow them.
Not playing that game.
Nice letter, but you are in the wrong place. You are serving men, not God with your plea.

Ripple Effect
by Yondaime inon tuesday i was dragged out on service with my mom since shes a permanent pioneer, and once we arrived at the hall i realized there were no brothers, but an abundance of sisters.
i conducted the service meeting with ease, since my dad gave me a formation on how to do it.. then on thursday at my meeting nearly half of the congregation surrounded me and gave me hugs and kisses.
i know about love bombing, its happened to me before, but this was the most insane amount of it ever since i had a demonstration at the district convention.

I left when I was almost 16. Immediately I was persona non grata. I did not exist. Fortunately, I had made other friends and my dad was never a JW. I later went to college,Ihave taught, I have traveled the world and seen amazing things. To think I missed out on a magazine route!!!
Of course, as a female I would never of the glory of conducting a meeting, much less rising to the glorified position of ministerial servant or (gasp) elder. Those FT pioneer ladies get pretty much nothing out of it but a stinky small four door car and a coffee with the girls on a regular basis.

Skip the meeting. Reconsider. What do you hope to accomplish? could it be accomplished better by simply quittingthe meetings and not playing their games anymore? What do you have to lose.
If you really want to vent, wait, consider what you are trying to get out of it and then reschedule or forget it and vent here. There is not a lot to accomplish by talking to the elders. You could just go and say you are stumbled by brother flirt and his wife and so you will be staying home for the time being. That'll at least accomplish SOMETHING. If only making flirt elder stop coming on to women and mortifying his wife.

There are some nice JWs, but just because your life is going in a bad direction does not mean that being a JW is right. Did you leave because someone pissed you off or did you leave because you could see the teachings were not even biblical? I am not a Christian, but just on the Bible side of things, I can show you how their critical drawing point is totally off. The "fresh start" semi resurrection of 1000 years of not really being alive until judgement as offered in the WT literature is totally unbiblical. The scriptures they cite to support it are not only NOT supporting it, but they don't even seem to try to apply (even if you accept the out of context bit-even out of context, they don't apply!)
If you want truth-it isn't a place to find it. If you want to be popular and love bombed after leaving for a few years and coming back as a returning prodigal-well, you might get married to a pretty JW, you might get offered a marginal job, you might eventually get to passthe mics around and go door to door telling people pretty lies to tickle their ears. Is that how you want to spend your life?
As to your quality of life-I don'tknow what you had or what you expected, but education matters. Attitude matters. Think about the things you are doing to sabotage yourself and remember that there are successful and unsuccessful people in the org. Usually fewer of them are successful (your neighborhood may vary).
If you left the JWs and played the game as they expect that you will-with a dissolute lifestyle-that won't help your career any. That's not usually the problem (though they would love for it to be) If you are just having bad luck with jobs-we live in a sucky economy and few seem to be getting keeper jobs without a professional background of somekind. You may need therapy generally, you may need career counseling, a better work ethic or a different part of the country to live in.
I hope you find what you looking for, but if you honestly believe in God, do you think he will be championing your telling people lies at the door because you think it will improve your economic and social life?

Thanks for the update! We try not to pester you cause we know you will come to us when you are ready. :)
I'm glad your family is putting kindness ahead of popularity in the congregation. Kind of cold for the sisters to give a bad time about that!

Do you know your neighbors? Is it just me?
by neverendingjourney ini'm a single hispanic guy in my mid 30s living by myself in suburban america.
i own a home in the kind of neighborhood where you have to get hoa permission to do just about anything, including chopping down a tree.
i'm a white collar worker and lead a pretty boring life.

I am the only 'white' person I have seen in my neighborhood. My husband is brown and our neighbors are hispanic, black and vietnamese. My husband delivered some homemade muffins to the neighbors a few days ago for me, and introduced himself. Most were pretty nice, onetook one look at him and slammed the door and another asked how much he wanted for the muffins-even after his spiel about howdy, just getting to know our neighbors. . . . No one seems unfriendly, but we are on the inside of a culdesac and the house on the outside corner has a rottweiler/pitbull mix and I am afraid to even walk by there, especially when they are home-since they let the dog out w/o a leash. My husband makes friends with all the neighborhood dogs, but I have my limits!
Our hispanic neighbors usually have parties or family gatherings on the weekends, but while they don't invite the neighbors, they aren't too loud, too late or in any way obnoxious (except for someone parking in our driveway once, but there was room for us to park so we just stayed silent on the matter)
I guess it is kind of middling as to friendliness. If anyone is up for stereotyping, one of the Vietnamese family is the friendliest. Theother one is theone who slammed the door in hubby's face. So, stereotyping is probably not a great idea!
