You are already well into fading and your parents have clued in. It will really only become a problem if you get married in a church or get born again or something(things they can't really ignore)-they are likely more aware of what you are up to than you think. Start missing more meetings. When the elders or magazines say something really controlling, illogical or stupid(so obvious that they can't deny it)-mention that point. Mention that 'doesn't that paragraph seem really manipulative?' "Do you ever wonder about . . . ?"
If you are asked point blank, think about this. You could tell them that you respect them and never want to hurt them, so you would rather be thought to be weak than to open your mouth and be an embarrassment to them (we mean DFd and they know it, but some things are better left unsaid-they don't want to go there!) The only reason I say this-you don't owe the org anything, but your parents can be made to understand that you don't really buy into it, but you aren't going to embarrass them publicly out of respect for their feelings. That is a huge concern for most. They love you and will worry. If mom pushes you into a study or elder meeting-don't do it. Just say no.
WELCOME. Your English usage is better than most of ours. No worries. Sorry for being bossy.
The meetings are a pain in the butt-literally and metaphorically. They are redundant, boring and a waste of time. And you don't need to hate the WT or JWs to think that or say it.

Governing Body Worship in the WT: July 15th, 2014 issue
by Oubliette inthe july 15th, 2014 issue of the watchtower has the "life story" of gb member gerrit losch on pages 17-22.. think about it.
this losch love-fest is 6 pages of the current wt!.
that's nearly 20% of the ragazine.. is this the beginning of a series of idolatrous articles indoctrinating jws with gb worship?

If a guy like HIM could be on the GB, who knows what your own high school graduate could become in the organization!

Jack The Ripper Unmasked?
by metatron inhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2746321/jack-ripper-unmasked-how-amateur-sleuth-used-dna-breakthrough-identify-britains-notorious-criminal-126-years-string-terrible-murders.html.
to be accepted as fact, these claims will have to be replicated.

Vivianne, I read the article and while the shawl provenance is unproven, they did mention how it was extracted and that mitochondrial dNA from descendants of both parties was used to compare.
It's a long time later-proving it is kind of a intellectual game in any case, but they actually did make a fairly good surface case for it. I don't remember why they settled on checking the dna descendant of the alleged Ripper. It will be interesting to see if it has any further substantiation. Maybe it is like one of the fake mermaids that keep popping up, maybe it is like Troy. You never know.
I have read Cornwells work on Sickert and while it was compelling, I was not convinced of it. There wasn't enough circumstantial evidence for me. DNA evidence, if proven with some degree of credibility, would be pretty compelling. At this point, it is interesting but not yet enough for ME to say 'case closed' and you know, my opinion matters to so many people:)

PART TWO of AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE BY A PRACTICING JEHOVAH'S WITNESS
by Sparks inwhile you are sitting there reading this, there are literally hundreds of thousands of young males and females all over the world [ mostly in america / canada and england] sitting in their grotty little smelly bedrooms or flats, designing computer viruses that they will up-load onto web-sites to cause anonymous innocent peoples computers to malfunction.
these creeps spend literally weeks, months or even years hoping to make a computer viruses that will get into peoples computer bios to completely destroy their computers.
they never see the peoples anger, frustration and distress.... the damage can cost each person about 1,000 [ $1,660.74 ] or more to replace a basic new laptop or tower.

These are the same people that go door to door presenting as "good news" a false hope that isn't even from the Bible that they pretend to believe.
They are followers of men and having experienced the WT brand of "love", well, if I was still among them, I'd be on the same antidepressents my active JW mom takes (prozak chased with way too much alcohol).
One need only glance at the home page to know that they have not come to a WT approved site (though seriously, there is only ONE WT approved site and discussion sites are not allowed, last I knew)
So, get off hour high horse and go leave whatever WT filth is required this month. This gets you no points in this world or the next.

Anyone else notice the new Terms of Use on jw.org?
by leaving_quietly ini first noticed it today... slides up at the bottom.
i wonder why they felt the need to do this?
this is just silly for a religious website..

Can they assign themselves the right to not allow us (statutory) fair use of the materials from the site that are written and disseminated in other places and formats?
What am I missing?

Copy of my DA Letter
by airborne inthis is my first time posting here, although i have been a visitor to it for around a year.
after doing a simple google search under "jehovah'switnesses" over a year ago, i found ttat.
i was deeply unhappy with the congregation and decided to educate myself, and boy what an education i have gotten so far.

I'm a great editor(less skilled writer and can't edit myself to save myself) and I would not change a thing. As an experienced former JW (over 30 years now), I think you said the exact right thing. Wish I could be so succinct! I know you are unburdened now because you kept your class, your dignity and actually maintained a respectful (as towards other human beings) vibe to the elders. Wow.

Is new light coming again?
by justme67 ini just turned in my resignation letter to my congregation a few weeks ago.
last week, 2 elders called me to say they received my letter and would like to meet with me to discuss my concerns.
in my letter, i said i had found out about all the child abuse cases that were going on and that i didnt agree with their policy of disfellowshipping.

I'd say, "I don't want to be part of an organization where certain men have critically important information that they think could be life saving and they won't tell that person what it is when they are standing right there in front of them." Exit right.
