It's my birthday today
by Bruja-del-Sol in... but most of my new (post jw) friends either don't know my birth date (if people don't specifically ask i won't tell them), or they are 2500 kilometers away in the netherlands... so all that's left to celebrate with me are my hubby, the two doggies, cat and my two rabbits... mixed feelings, i miss my friends and family around and haven't found friends in spain yet.
luckily our daughter will visit us the end of the month... and yesterday we've found a new rental house and we're moving into it next month already!
i'm thrilled and really looking forward to it, then we will finally be able to let all the rest of our belongings come to spain (2/3 of our stuff is stored in the netherlands).. so with this in mind, i'll just say 'happy birthday to me' and will enjoy my third birthday in espana .

A rose by any other name..............
by sparrowdown ini'm curious, why and how did you choose your username?.
does it hold any special significance for you, is there a share-able back story?.
for me sparrowdown is a playful reference to matt 10:29 and the title of the movie black hawk down.. matt 10:29 was my go-to scrip to "prove" that god cares about us as individuals.

I am worried. What I saw was EXACTLY what I thought I would see. What does that say about me? I know them too well? So. Korea seems to love kitchy things? I am really old? I am psychic? I'm just paying attention? Hmmm. SHOULD I worry? I am 48. I was only in for the first 16 years of my life

My JW mom is now willing to "listen" to our side...Need advice pls
by 2pink inmy husband and i (both born in jws with extended family all "in" except for one of my sisters who left when we did) left the church 5 years ago.
we did not fade, we just didn't believe it anymore, told our families so and left.
obviously, big drama in our family after this, messy feelings, etc.

Relate your conversation to the issues that brought her to this point and then see where they grow naturally. She already had issues. This current thing is making her pay attention. So, work with the situation at hand and ASK your mom what has concerned her over the years. Then address those things.

For 46 years Jehovah's Witnesses compromised their worship in Mexico to retain ownership of material property

I knew of this when it was still going on. I still can't understand how JWs excuse this. It started in 1917 to control the CATHOLIC church. Yet, it was still the Catholic CHURCH for the entire century. The Catholic church itself was actively persecuted for decades. It was the Catholic church itself that fought for the rights of all churches in Mexico to worship freely as the harshness of the laws began to soften and times changed, it was the church that pushed the reforms for religion in Mexico. It wasn't JWs who were fighting for their rights or who gave up anything for it. They just played the persecution card-you know, OTHER churches could worship and pray. . . right? UGH.

You are already well into fading and your parents have clued in. It will really only become a problem if you get married in a church or get born again or something(things they can't really ignore)-they are likely more aware of what you are up to than you think. Start missing more meetings. When the elders or magazines say something really controlling, illogical or stupid(so obvious that they can't deny it)-mention that point. Mention that 'doesn't that paragraph seem really manipulative?' "Do you ever wonder about . . . ?"
If you are asked point blank, think about this. You could tell them that you respect them and never want to hurt them, so you would rather be thought to be weak than to open your mouth and be an embarrassment to them (we mean DFd and they know it, but some things are better left unsaid-they don't want to go there!) The only reason I say this-you don't owe the org anything, but your parents can be made to understand that you don't really buy into it, but you aren't going to embarrass them publicly out of respect for their feelings. That is a huge concern for most. They love you and will worry. If mom pushes you into a study or elder meeting-don't do it. Just say no.
WELCOME. Your English usage is better than most of ours. No worries. Sorry for being bossy.
The meetings are a pain in the butt-literally and metaphorically. They are redundant, boring and a waste of time. And you don't need to hate the WT or JWs to think that or say it.

Governing Body Worship in the WT: July 15th, 2014 issue
by Oubliette inthe july 15th, 2014 issue of the watchtower has the "life story" of gb member gerrit losch on pages 17-22.. think about it.
this losch love-fest is 6 pages of the current wt!.
that's nearly 20% of the ragazine.. is this the beginning of a series of idolatrous articles indoctrinating jws with gb worship?

If a guy like HIM could be on the GB, who knows what your own high school graduate could become in the organization!
