I'm in the US and I am married. I have 3 kids and I am a very unpopular person-on this board and IRL (see post above). I sometimes wish I could go in a witness protection program and I am not referring to the JWs. -

Just be aware of all of the consequences to both you and her-and evaluate if they are something you can live with. If you have kids, go to the worst case scenario there-can you live with that? Divorce is one thing-losing birth family and every friend since infancy might be harder. Jobs, whatever else will be affected
If being true to yourself is the most important and critical thing, you REALLY need to ask yourself why and how that has practical value to you emotionally and in practical terms. What will you do with your freedom that will truly change your life? Cause you are going to live with it. There is no easy or perfect answer. Every solution has its own challenges and heartaches. You have to think for yourself about what will hurt you more.
I wish you well. I left the WT and later Christianity. I honestly lost a lot more when I left Christianity. Family, society, work-our country is NOT tolerant to folks rejecting (in their view) Jesus. You are basically doing both at once, so double whammy for you, I think. Be careful. Everything in your heart doesn't need to leave your mouth. I am speaking from my own hurt and my own regrets, but I hope that they give you a little extra discenment and more to think about, friend.
Maybe I think being true to yourself is a little overrated sometimes. My American heart and soul rejects this heartily, but my reality is that my kids rejected me. My ex has tried to make me an unindicted co-conspirator and accused me of unspeakable things in court filings then just leaves me hanging without being able to answer because of his delays. My teenage child in the meantime has been told that I am out to harm him, his dad and America.

No small irony that they were country dancing to "footloose", huh? Remember the movie?
Footloose
By Kenny LogginsI've been working so hard
I'm punching my card
Eight hours for what?
Oh, tell me what I got
I've got this feeling
That time's just holding me down
I'll hit the ceiling or else
I'll tear up this townNow I gotta cut loose
Footloose, kick off the Sunday shoes
Please, Louise, pull me off of my knees
Jack, get back, come on before we crack
Lose your blues, everybody cut footlooseYou're playing so cool, obeying every rule
Dig a way down in your heart
You're burning yearning for some
Somebody to tell you that life ain't passing you by
I'm trying to tell you
It will if you don't even try
You'll get by if you'd onlyCut loose, footloose, kick off the Sunday shoes
Ooh-wee Marie shake it, shake it for me
Woah, Milo come on, come on let's go
Lose your blues, everybody cut footlooseYou got to turn me around and put your
Feet on the ground, now take the hold of all
Ah ah ah ah ah
I'm turning you looseFootloose, kick off the Sunday shoes
Please, Louise, pull me off of my knees
Jack, get back, come on before we crack
Lose your blues, everybody cut footloose (footloose) -

He's such a joke that whatever he says is going to be glossed over by the fact that people were distracted by the odd delivery. He can say anything and JWs will forget it consciously. Which is just as well for the most part. How many JWs give a crap about the may broadcast? They tuned out consciously as they had to. He is unwatchable in the extreme. So, the stuff he was saying never hit them directly, it is just going to get in as osmosis and they wont even know why they are giving more. -

Caleb's Logic - Do the math
by Esse quam videri inthe scene is the kitchen table where we find calebs dad and mom in conversation.
dad - a letter?
mom so we are going to write a letter to everyone we know and ask them to give us some of their money, so that we have as much money coming in as is going out.

Yeah, I heard that little talk and I thought of all the preaching I had gotten about planning and being sensible, yada yada. Wise stewards. . . ALL that. And didn't they just pat themselves on the back a lot about that, too?
I hope that the money dries up like the grass in Western Washington has during the recent heat wave. And I hope that the WT never gets another "rainy" day to refresh them.
Honestly, I wish all the JWs of the world would just stop donating entirely in protest of stupidity, if nothing else!!

Convention Before Op
by disillusioned 2 inmy mum today was told that she urgently needs a pacemaker.
the doctor said he would push this through as quickly as possible.. my mum was more concerned about it clashing with her convention!
she told me she would rather leave the op till after the convention even though the doctor said it was urgent.

The convention is only 3 days. The problem is that scheduling is a bugger and just moving it back 3 days isn't so likely a scenario. SHe is better off telling dr.(or nurse) right now that she needs it to be on/before/after such and such a day if she is going to stubbornly wait til after the convention. My ex had a pacemaker and it doesn't keep you out of total commission for too long. If she gets it beforehand and gets a wheelchair and help, she might be able to manage soon after the surgery. Not ideal, but your mom doesn't seem to be open to practical. Depending on the venue, it might work or not, but we all know that JWs are nutty about conventions. What are you gonna do? Remind her to make sure her will is updated? -

Comparing JWs to Jews
by CalebInFloroda insome have asked how my views and convictions have changed over the past 15 years or so after leaving the watchtower behind to return to my familys roots and embrace judaism.
the best way to explain things is to allow both the religion of the watchtower and my life as a jew today to stand side-by-side for comparison.
while i cant guarantee this will help prove to others that the jehovahs witnesses are truly a crazy religious group, i am sure it will prove to most that jews probably are, and are quite aware of it.

LOL, so what you are saying is that Jews have a sense of humor.
